Harpwood is set in four acres of grounds and is especially designed for those less able and offers wide corridors, an easy to use lift, gentle stairways and plenty of room to wander freely betwen lounges and sitting areas.

The aim at Harpwood is to create a relaxed, happy atmosphere that is both homely and secure - each resident is assisted and encouraged to develop and maintain a lifestyle that affords them the maximum level of independence. Staff are gently supportive of specific needs but still mindful of independence and the need for privacy.

My mother has some dementia and mobility problems, and after several falls resulting in regular hospital stays, moved to Harpwood Residential Home in the spring of 2022. She spent the first year in the old building and has now moved into the new facility, which is so much more spacious, with wide corridors,
open lounges and dining areas, and spacious, well-appointed ensuite private rooms. The staff have always been welcoming, engaging and clearly keen to provide a caring and enjoyable atmosphere for the residents. Although Mum does get a little confused at times, she genuinely seems happy at Harpwood, and she is not an easy lady to please! Mum even says she enjoys the food, and having received some samples during my visits, I can confirm they do make some excellent cakes! I do feel Mum is in safe hands. When she had a fall recently, a rare occurrence now due to diligent care and precautions provided, paramedics and hospital care were arranged much more quickly than we could achieve ourselves.

The family would like to thank all of the staff at Harpwood, who welcomed my mother into their home and cared for her with such love and kindness over the years she was with them. In the last week of her life, they went above and beyond in keeping her at Harpwood which had become her home.
The staff
at Harpwood our outstanding and my mother felt very much at home, happy and safe

On behalf of my mother, I started looking at suitable care homes for her. I was not happy with the first homes we (my wife and I) looked at. Then, just by chance I was told of Harpwood and rang up the home. From the moment I rang something felt right and when we visited we both felt at ease and was
pleased with everything we saw. Our first impression has not changed, and it is down mainly to the good team you have working there. You may have a slightly weather-beaten ship but the important thing is you appear to have a good captain and crew so well done. I hope you can keep up the same standard when the new facility is built and wish you every success for the future.

My Mother lived at Harpwood for over two years, going there when she was 102 years old. The care she has received there has been outstanding, the staff became friends of our family and Mum just loved living there. She was always taking part in activities, enjoying the tasty food (and so much of it)
and really living her life to the full.
Mum passed away at the beginning of January, and the care and support the staff gave to us during her last day was just amazing. They truly cared for her and for us and made sure that Mum's last hours were peaceful and comfortable.
I cannot praise the staff at Harpwood highly enough, it is a wonderful place full of genuine love, care and support.

My relatives, who both have dementia, have been at Harpwood for over 1 year. I am particularly impressed that the dementia bus was recently at Harpwood for staff to experience how someone with dementia perceives the world. Therefore enabling better support. They also took part in the Nameste project,
lead by a hospice charity to explore the use of well-being techniques, especially sensory touch to reduce medication. The visiting acts are many and varied, singers and musicians, interactive talks. Dogs to stroke and cuddle, plus many regular activities.

During the time my father stayed at Harpwood Care Home he was treated exceptionally well. He was treated with dignity as an individual. He wasn't always easy to care for (due to his Dementia) yet the staff were an amazing team and always cared for him with heaps of patience.
As a relative visiting
regularly, I was always made welcome by the friendly staff (including the admin staff) and kept up to date with my fathers well being. One of the best things about this care home is that it is small enough for the staff to know every resident personally. There was always plenty going on with regards to activities.
I thoroughly recommend this care home.

My husband has been in this home since August and I thought then they were very attentive to his needs especially as he kept trying to get out. He has settled now and with the new management, it has gone from strength to strength.

I appreciate its an old building so rooms are OK but very clean which

is the important thing.

I am very happy my husband is here, they look after him well.
