Mum has been in the home for 2 years now. She has settled in well ( although in the beginning she didn't want to go into a home). She know says thank you for finding me this home, i feel safe. We have found all the staff to be friendly, polite and attentive to all the residents. All the area's that we
have seen are clean, tidy and well kept. We are always made to feel welcome when, and offered refreshments.
Mum always looks clean and well presented on our visits. She enjoys having her hair done by the hairdresser, and her nails painted. As her dementia is getting worse she struggles to remember what activities she has been doing. The staff have shown us pictures of the activities that she has been doing. She did remember going a farm and feeding the lambs. Mum's room has recently been painted, mum saying how happy she was with the colour. Mum enjoys looking out of the bedroom window over the neighbouring gardens.
All in all we are very happy with the care and support we receive.

Staff are always attentive and polite. The social aspect of interaction is fantastic. Everyday there is something different going on and staff encourage all residents to participate. Mums room is kept clean and tidy just how she likes it.

Food choices are good.

Garden area is beautiful in the

warmer months.

Communication between family and home is valued and we are always kept up to date.

My mum's been in High Pines for 2 years now. All her needs are met to a high standard. They know Mum well, understand her ways, and support her calmly if she feels anxious. She always feels well supported. Mum always says she likes her carers and I do too. They are so calm and friendly, have such a
kind, calm approach to all residents. I attended a couple of parties in the summer and Christmas; was lovely to get videos of Mum enjoying herself with the carers and other residents. Mum sadly forgets activities she does but I know she does them as carers have shown me photos. They are offered a variety of activities. Mum loves any of the music/singing sessions and anything involving animals. Particularly liked hearing Mum was taken to have a pub lunch with another resident and carers, all feels so normal and appreciated. Communication from Bo and Holly is very good, always know what's going on with Mum quite soon. Was a big decision to put Mum in a home but High Pines was the right home.

My mother had to be moved to High Pines due to her previous home shutting down.
She immediately settled and displayed signs of being happy.
Sadly her dementia has declined rapidly and her needs have increased.
High Pines provide a high standard of person centred care. They ensure that all my
mums needs are met.
All falls that occur are reported to me and any other updates that are necessary.
She has recently been unwell and Management update me via email.
I am always made to feel welcome when I visit and drinks are always offered.
The home appears clean and staff are polite. They have a professional but relaxed approach and this includes a sense of humour.
The food that is provided appears to me to be a good standard and includes fresh fruit and vegetables.
I have worked in health and social care for over 30 years and would deal with any concerns that I had within the home.
I would recommend this home to anyone that was looking for good all round care for their loved ones.

My dad has been in High Pines for just over a year now and is doing really well, always clean and well presented. Having Vascular Dementia he can be quite up and down. The staff are amazing always showing kindness care and empathy at all times. The communication regarding dads care is always shared
and the managers are visable and always happy to have a conversation about any concerns I may have. I can just be daughter knowing dad is in safe hands and really well looked after. Thank you all at High Pines.

I cannot express strongly enough how grateful my family is to all the staff at High Pines (Herne). My father has been resident for 3 years, and my mother was cared for there March to May 2020 when she died in hospital. Throughout this difficult time for our family, made more difficult by Covid-19, the
staff have been extraordinarily kind, caring and so hard working. Covid has been a huge challenge for them all, particularly Christmas 2020 when they had significant losses at the home, yet despite everything, they continue to give excellent care to our loved ones. We are truly blessed.

My brother passed away in High Pines Residential Home on the 11th January this year after being a resident there for 3 1/2 years.

The owner of the home who acts as if you are his best friend when he sees you there didn't even bother with a phone call.

No one from the home attended the funeral.

When I returned home from the funeral there were 2 missed calls. I phoned them expecting them to apologise and with some excuse for not attending but no. It was to tell me the death certificate was there. I told them it was the funeral today and was told they didn't know. Even though I had phoned up 2 days previously. Then I was told they were short staffed. Sorry.!!!!! After telling them it was disgusting and I wouldn't recommend them to anyone. .Guess what? Today 5 weeks after he died we received a deepest sympathy card from the home. IT MEANT NOTHING. TO LITTLE. TO LATE.!!!!

Current Review Score: 9.4 (9.405)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.4 (9.405) out of 10 for High Pines Residential Home Ltd is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 4.8 out of 5 from 8 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 4.7 out of 5 from 8 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.755 for High Pines Residential Home Ltd is calculated as follows: ( (74 Excellents x 5) + (17 Goods x 4) + (3 Satisfactorys x 3) ) ÷ 94 Ratings = 4.755
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 4.65 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for High Pines Residential Home Ltd is based on 8 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 20 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews, 0.05 Points for the next five Positive Reviews, and finally 0.025 Points for the next ten Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.050, 7th = 0.050, 8th = 0.050, 9th = 0.050, 10th = 0.050, 11th = 0.025, 12th = 0.025, 13th = 0.025, 14th = 0.025, 15th = 0.025, 16th = 0.025, 17th = 0.025, 18th = 0.025, 19th = 0.025, 20th = 0.025) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 = 3.65
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 27 registered maximum number of service users is 5.4, which has been reached with 8 Positive reviews. Points = 1
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
