Tynwald Residential Home is a warm and welcoming home which provides residential care for older people, respite care and day care. Many bedrooms have lovely views and each one has been tastefully furnished and decorated to a high standard.

The communal areas provide calm spaces to relax in and spend time with enjoying the beautiful view. The gardens are available for residents to spend time in all year round.

The care home is accessible for all, with a lift fitted to ensure residents can move safely and comfortably around the home.

Nutritional food is prepared and served to residents, and the on-site chefs take any dietary requirement into consideration when designing the menu of food.

Tynwald has a full and varied activity programme within the home, supported by an activity co-ordinator. While the home has strong links to the local community, volunteers also work within the home and gardens to enhance the opportunities for residents during the day and evening.

Residents living at Tynwald have an active role in how the home supports their needs, families are also an integral part of the home, often volunteering their time during events and social occasions.

Families are supportive of new residents and will often be available to discuss the care at Tynwald and resolve any questions or worries people have when making what will be a life changing decision.

Staff at the home are trained to CQF or NVQ standards and participate in in house training on a regular basis, they home also has access to occupational therapy services and have good links with local GPs and community health teams.

Tynwald is a charity which is supported by a board of trustee volunteers, many of the trustees and staff have been dedicated to the home for a number of years ensuring continuity of care.

The best facility that I cold have wished for my aunt to spend the later part of her life in. A very relaxed and stimulating atmosphere for the residents to be surrounded by and part of.

From day one, Mum has been cared for with compassion and dignity. The first few months were hard for Mum to adjust to life at Tynwald but the staff have all been amazing, thoughtful and kind at all times.

An amazing home which enables residents to have personal care that meets all their needs and that of their families. Welcoming to all and encouraged to maintain independence in what they can. Food and entertainment are excellent. All staff are kind and caring with superb interaction with residents.

I would like to thank all the staff at Tynwald, who over the last 11-months has done the most incredible job keeping all the residents safe, happy, stimulated and cared for. During this period when only they could be in the home, they have not only done their day job, but they have been the entertainment
committee as well! I can't thank everyone enough. If my dear mother wasn't in Tynwald during this time, I'm really not sure how we would have survived.

The entire staff are dedicated to making each resident feel loved and cared for. No request is too much for them. My mum is given (in general) anything she fancies to eat, so if she does not like the choices on the menu, she can request and alternative.
It is like home - the staff are happy, cheerful
and always willing to go the extra mile for the residents.
Christmas decorations have been put up in the home as well as in the beautiful garden. She couldn't be ina better place (other than in her own home of course).

My mum has always been treated kindly and in a dignified manner. The staff have been excellent in understanding her personality/likes/dislikes and acted accordingly. I have been contacted immediately should there be any health issues or misunderstandings. MY mum sometimes struggles with food choices
but is always offered an alternative. I would definitely recommend and thank you during Covid-19.

My mother has been a resident at Tynwald since March 2016. Mum struggles to walk but is perfectly alert, so finding a care home with the right atmosphere was crucial to her daily wellbeing. Tynwald is a friendly, warm caring place staffed and run by people with the same qualities. They have gone out
of their way to make mum happy, altering her bed and room layout to suit her. Her room is filled with her craftwork, books and all the things she enjoys. Her main carer is an empathic, generous, kind and funny person who has become a good friend. If you could clone her the staffing problem in care work would be solved!


Tynwald management and staff really know their residents. The CQC checks and measures cannot measure an atmosphere, or a warm feeling, or a kind word in the night. They don’t give points for empathy. I am a former Ambulancewoman who has seen bad homes. Tynwald is at the opposite end of the spectrum. It is mum’s home and she (and we) are so happy we found it.

My aunt resides in Tynwald and is the 2nd relative to do so, my father being the other. I have found the care to be of the highest quality, nothing is too much trouble for the staff, from the cleaners through the kitchen staff to the carers right through to the manager. They are friendly but very efficient
and the residents are extremely well looked after. If there is a problem with my aunt, maybe with her being unwell, we are notified by phone straight away.


The care home itself is what I would consider as homely, which is exactly what we were looking for. If the time should come, I wouldn't mind residing there myself. The residents have some form of entertainment nearly every afternoon and are encouraged to join in. All in all, I don't think we could have found a better care home for my aunt to reside in. We have peace of mind and can rest assured that she is well looked after in her 99th year.

It is Friday 10th February 2017 and my third visit to my Auntie this week.
On entering the spacious reception area, the door is opened by staff. Roomy and bright with easy chairs. I am signed in and in the TV lounge give a greeting to residents who I have got to know.
Onto the conservatory which is
spacious and also roomy and bright.
My Auntie is knitting - a new venture - which is excellent to my mind.
10.30 am is a tea or coffee break with biscuits which are taken around.
The staff take orders for tea, breakfast and lunch the following day.
It is then the crossword before lunch.
Everyone is encouraged to participate but no pressure. There's much more.

I was very pleasantly surprised how clean, friendly and homely Yynwald Residential Home was, nothing was to much trouble for them. If myself or anybody I know had to go into care I would definitely recommend this home. I would definitely give it 10 out of 10 for quality and excellence.

My old next door neighbour came into the home for 3 years and loved it, so I put my mother and step-father in here. Very pleased with everything. It is a lovely home, nice atmosphere and the staff are friendly and helpful.
