Hendford has a large, privately secured garden situated on a private road within close proximity to public transport. The layout of the Ground Floor is designed specifically for people living with the experience of Dementia, with access to the gardens and communal rooms. The Ground Floor is comprised of 25 rooms. The purpose built Ground Floor layout with plenty of natural lighting and space promotes the wellbeing of residents, with one of the communal rooms with large transparent glass panel walls with a view to the large garden areas, hedges and seasonal flowers.

Nursing care is provided 24 hours a day with first level nurses on site. Hendford residents have access to their own GP on a regular basis and Hendford works closely with MDT practitioners. Hendford broke records by managing COVID effectively by providing a safe and happy environment for residents during the pandemic period. Hendford has also provided care which has rehabilitated residents to lead meaningful lives aiding them to move towards independent living settings.

All meals at Hendford are cooked on site by competent and creative chefs catering for different types of food, according to the residents' choice, assessments and needs. Hendford strives to uphold the social aspect of dining and the residents' wellbeing. Hendford provides activity based living promoting resident participation in meaningful activities and entertainment. Food and activity create friendship between residents, resulting in providing a friendly and homely environment.

My mum was in her nursing home for just over a year. The staff were all very kind to her and looked after her very well. Her room was very comfortable, with an ensuite shower room and a television. She had a lovely view over the very pretty garden. While Mum was there, I got to know all the staff very
well. I was impressed with how long they had all been there and how experienced the staff were. My mum was very happy there. (Mum died on 1st January 2020.)

My mum received nothing but love, care and attention during her 16-month resident at Hendford. All staff cared for the residents, even when things got tough. The food always looked appetising and nutritious. Nothing but praise.

My father was admitted to Hendford Nursing Home at the beginning of the year. It was an extremely anxious time for him and the rest of the family. From the very beginning, the staff have been excellent at keeping us all informed. The attention to detail was excellent. For example, they gave us ideas
of how to make the transition a smooth one, an audio tape of our voices, email messages from his family to be read out to him on his arrival. He is in a lovely light airy room looking out onto the calm and tranquil green gardens, the daffodils are n bloom now. Dad is now putting on weight, he loves the food here. In his lucid moments, he tells us how happy he is at Hendford Nursing Home. It is a relief to see dad calm, happy, warm and loved. Thank you to all the caring staff.

My Grandmother was a resident of Hendford for six years and I wouldn't hesitate to recommend it. She came to consider the staff as her friends and they really couldn't have been kinder to her particularly in the last weeks of her life. The compassion shown at Hendford to family and residents is wonderful,
and it is nice to know that all the staff, from the people in the office to the carers, nurses and cleaners, know and respect all the residents individually. Nothing was ever too much trouble and as a family living a distance from Hendford, we felt that our relative was in very safe hands in our unfortunate absence. My grandmother was bed bound so could not engage with other residents but the staff ensured that she was never left out. We are very grateful for the care given and would recommend Hendford wholeheartedly.

My husband's aunt was in this home for about 7 years. Right from day 1 the staff were very friendly to my husband and I and went out of their way to meet our needs and wishes. Throughout her stay, they treated my husband's aunt with respect and were very caring and sensitive towards her needs. Her behaviour
could be challenging at times but all staff were patient and cleaned up any mess willingly. We would have no problem recommending this care home. We were more than happy with the service we received.

My father was at Hendford for 2 months. He was treated with care and dignity the entire time, even when he was so ill he was unresponsive. Everyone, from the nurses to domestic and kitchen staff were kind to him, referring to him by name when they went into his room, even if he didn't reply. The staff
were also extremely kind to me, my family and my brother when we visited. They made us welcome and explained what was happening with his treatment etc. The home also had music (live and recorded) and one of the carers gave my father aromatherapy hand massages and sang with him. I can't speak highly enough of the care my father received.

My Mother had dementia and was a resident at Hendford House for over a year until she passed away in February 2016. Hendford always had a homely atmosphere and I visited Mum every other day at any time that was convenient to me and the staff were always welcoming and helpful. Mum could be challenging
at times and the staff were always patient, kind and understanding. Always nicely and thoughtfully dressed, clean and comfortable she was as settled as she could be and enjoyed the companionship and humour with all staff members. The environment was clean and tidy and never smelt unpleasant. The meals, particularly dinners were traditional, home cooked and nutritious. During her final days the staff were exceptional in making her comfortable and supporting me. I will never forget their kindness and have very fond memories of my regular visits.

I visit my friend every week. She is always happy and contented. The staff are always kind and professional. They are willing to do anything. Nothing is too much trouble. There is a very homely atmosphere. The only negative, the rooms are small.

Hendford Nursing Home is a happy home and all staff are always friendly. Although mum only speaks Cantonese staff are able to communicate with her by hand gestures, pictures, cards etc. and able to meet her needs.. it requires lots of patience and a caring attitude. Mum is happy at Hendford Nursing
Home. Mum is 99 years old and I am glad to find Hendford Nursing Home as mums second home. I am always able to visit mum at any time and takes mum out on her food days which I am truly grateful!
