Orchard House is a modern fully equipped nursing home which specialises in high-quality dementia care.

As a small home looking after a maximum of 32 residents, the professional, highly experienced and friendly team are able to deliver truly personalised, bespoke care putting residents at the centre of everything they do. With high staffing ratios, residents benefit from all the attention and care they need and become part of the Orchard House family.

Their ethos is to maximise residents' quality of life and independence whilst protecting their privacy and dignity.

The home offers home cooked meals and residents enjoy freshly cooked, nutritious meals using high quality, locally sourced ingredients. Residents with special dietary requirements are catered for and residents are encouraged to contribute to the development of the menus.

Orchard House has a dedicated Activities Co-ordinator who ensures there is a full schedule of activities available to the residents every day to maintain physical and mental wellbeing and keep residents stimulated.

There is hairdressing available on site in the salon as well as visiting chiropodists, physiotherapists and opticians. Residents can choose their GP and Orchard House has links with all local GPs in Bexhill.

Orchard House has become a proper home for my mother. She was very resistant to going there (or anywhere else) but needed care both night and day. Walking in you find a large open plan space, the dining room, sunroom and lounge are all separate areas of the same space, my mother does not get lost here.
The staff are kind and caring. There are activities to join in with (or not). Friends have been made. Throughout the seasons there are celebrations and special activities, bonfire night etc. It is her home.

Orchard House is a very friendly and homely home.
The clients and visitors are all treated with respect.
Nothing is too much trouble.
The home is very clean and tidy.
The clients are well catered for using their own clothes which are washed and changed each day.
The food is all homemade and is
excellent and plenty of it.
My husband went there for respite but is now going to be a resident.

No-one wants to put their loved onto in a home - it's a horrible, frightening thought - handing over the care of your mum to strangers. But from our first visit, our shoulders dropped with relief knowing that mum would be loved, cared for and happy here to the end.
The Orchard House manager and staff
are so loving and caring that it feels like mum is with an extended family and the other residents are friends who all support each other when they can. The kindness of the manager and all her staff is exceptional and their expert, professional, capable handling of all personal care is just wonderful. Every day there are supervised activities available to stimulate the mind and body which are fun and inclusive or your own room can be your sanctuary, decorated as you choose if you prefer.


Entertainment such as a pianist playing all the old songs, other musicians and quizzes, animal therapists bring their furry friends to be stroked, craft making and painting afternoons, gentle therapeutic exercise sessions and a hairdresser all come weekly, fortnightly or monthly.. Once a month there is a church service with communion followed in the afternoon by a church choir to lead hymn singing.
Seasonal favourites include; easter bonnets to make; fireworks on bonfire night; pantomimes and cards at Christmas. A beautiful garden to walk in or sit and enjoy the sunshine when summer comes or enjoy it from the warm, bright conservatory instead.


When that day comes for your relative to have twenty-four-hour care they will soon think of Orchard House as home with some surprising benefits. Your shoulders will drop with relief like ours did when you realise the quality of care is second to none.

I am writing to say how pleased I have been with all the staff at Orchard House for the care and respect they have given my mother over the last seven years. I live in Australia and it was very important for me to know my mother was "in good hands" as I couldn't be there with her on a daily basis. Whenever
I visited from abroad, the staff couldn't have been more helpful or friendly. The home was always bright and welcoming and smelled fresh and clean and mum was always clean and well fed and very comfortable in her bed. She passed away on 20/12/17 and the staff were with her at the end, caring as always.

My relative was resident at Orchard House for four years up to her death in December 2017. This home was selected due to a recommendation from someone who had previously had a relative cared for there and had felt that the staff always provided excellent care whilst often going above and beyond.
I
would like to now echo those comments based on my own experiences and interactions with the home in the care of my relative over the last four years.
At all times we felt that all the staff were actively involved and concerned for the wellbeing of my relative. They maintained excellent communication with myself. Any areas of concern with regards to my relatives health were raised and dealt with promptly by them and I was kept informed.
Going to visit there was always a pleasure. The staff made you very welcome no matter when you visited. There was a very low turnover of staff in those four years which I think reflects good leadership at the home.
I am happy to recommend Orchard House to others.

My brother arrived at Orchard house in March 2016. He is blind, unable to walk and his memory is fading. I visit every afternoon and we do crosswords and talk and listen to music. He is very settled at the care home and content. The home has many activities such as painting and my brother would love
to have joined in. He has a very nice room where we can talk about his life, laugh and sing without interfering with the other residents. The staff are very kind, busy and approachable.

My mother is 94 years old and suffers from dementia and other health issues. She moved into Orchard House in February 2017. The care she receives from all the staff is fantastic. They are so kind, loving, thoughtful and always professional. The home is always clean and homely. There are activities to
join in every day if the residents like to. The food is fresh, home cooked and delicious. I cannot recommend Orchard House highly enough!

My mother in law has been in Orchard House since February 2017. She has dementia and cancer. All of the staff are wonderful. They are so caring and kind, always on hand to help in all circumstances. The standards of cleanliness is first class - as is the home cooked food!
The manager is very professional
and very kind, she plays a key role in the home every day. The home is well staffed and I couldn't praise it highly enough.

The manager and staff provide a caring and welcoming residence. My relative was reluctant and difficult before becoming a resident. She now says that she is very happy and quite content to live there. Family and friends are always welcome anytime and can join residents for a meal or activity. The food
is homemade to a good standard and plentiful, all diets catered for. The staff readily listen to any concerns. We are happy and relieved to have found such a lovely place for our family member.

After some investigation around the area, we found Orchard House for my father who was suffering from Dementia. Although he was only with Orchard House for 2 months we found the management and staff to be very caring, friendly and supportive of Dad's needs.
We would not hesitate to recommend Orchard
House to any potential future clients.

The staff are very friendly and seem really to care for the residents. The home is always odour free. The food - I am usually offered lunch when I visit is wholesome and fresh. With the rapid approach of the IT competent generations I am glad to hear that WiFi will be installed. This will enable visitors
to use iPads to show residents family photos and increasingly allow residents whether or not suffering dementia to link with the outside world using their own devices and/or with the help of the staff.

Mum settled into Orchard House very quickly. I feel reassured that she is being well cared for in a safe environment. Mum is happy with her room and continues to have her own hairdresser visit regularly. The lovely garden is easily accessible through the conservatory. Mum is encouraged to hold on to
her independence with support always there when required. I have always been made to feel welcome when visiting.

My mother moved in to Orchard House in October 2015. She has settled in really well and I feel very happy knowing Mum is safe and being looked after. She praises the home cooked food and joins in the varied activities that are offered each day. The staff have all gone out of their way to make Mum feel
safe, happy and cared for and are invariably so friendly and welcoming to us when we visit. We are always offered tea/coffee and cakes and any problems are discussed with us and then acted upon very quickly. Orchard House feels like a large friendly family home and I do not think I could have found a better care home anywhere in Bexhill. Ollie the resident cat is the icing on the cake!

My mother is 90, has limited mobility and dementia. She has been living at Orchard House for 8 months and enjoys the company of the residents and staff. She does get confused about things sometimes but the staff are very caring and helpful. The atmosphere is like a big family and reassuring for both
residents and their families.
I am happy with the care that my mother receives and would recommend Orchard House to anyone.
