My aunt had 2 weeks respite at Orchard house following a stay in hospital. She was in a very weak and fragile state on entering and 2 weeks later was able to return home to live by herself with a care package. I would like to thank all the staff for helping her recover. Myself and other members of the family were always made welcome whatever time we chose to visit. Thank you

My husband is well cared for by very competent, caring and friendly staff providing a homely atmosphere with personal items allowed in their room if wanted. Any complaints are promptly dealt with and resolved. The care home serves fresh home-cooked food which is much appreciated by residents.

The lovely, homely feel of Orchard House is evident, from the minute you enter staff smile and are friendly.
Management are always present and know their residents by name, nothing is too much trouble for any of the staff.

The extra time and care needed with new residents sets this care home above the rest.

I highly recommend Orchard House.
A fine building with open-plan living and dining areas, a large conservatory overlooking the beautiful garden and comfortable en-suite bedrooms.
The home-cooked food is tasty and nutritional and there are plenty of options.
The home is always fresh and clean.
There are interesting activities daily and special events to look forward to.
Most importantly the management and staff are amazing, being kind, compassionate, warm and friendly.
They combine efficiency and professionalism with a gentle sensitivity.
Residents have told me that they feel happy, secure and content.
As for my mum, who was adamant that she would not enter a care home...well, she is so happy.

She loves her room and has made many friends.

The care staff seemed very caring.
My wife was there for two weeks (respite care).
My wife has Dementia and the first room she was allocated was not suitable.
No en-suite only a commode (confusing).
The new room 4 days later was much better.

Never met any management, was never asked what my wife liked or needed, just handed this card as we were leaving.

I am pleased to note that you felt the staff were caring. Unfortunately, at the time your wife was with us the home manager was on annual leave and I understand you interacted with a couple of the senior carers in charge at the time. I am sorry you felt that no one made an effort to understand...

My wife was welcomed at Orchard House for a short stay holiday (4 nights) from her normal residence. Her comment on everything relating to Orchard House was "home from home". My wife has no sight whatsoever but this did not seem to matter as she was made to feel immediately comfortable in her new surroundings. She very much enjoyed the food and slept well every night. Wheelchair access was no problem and she looks forward to a further visit.

This is such a lovely home, the staff are always friendly and welcoming, nothing is too much trouble and the atmosphere in the home is very positive. It feels so homely. Mum has settled in so well and is very happy. She has received such great care and support from the manager and all the team at Orchard House. We are very pleased with everything and it is a real relief to know she is being so well looked after.

I have been very relieved to see that my wife has been very settled and happy during her stay. She has shown no signs of anxiety which she does suffer from.
It has been a great comfort to see how well she has been looked after and how relaxed she has been whilst staying at Orchard House.

My family and I would have no hesitation in recommending Orchard House and would be very happy and grateful for her to come for another stay in the future should the need arise.

Orchard House has become a proper home for my mother. She was very resistant to going there (or anywhere else) but needed care both night and day. Walking in you find a large open plan space, the dining room, sunroom and lounge are all separate areas of the same space, my mother does not get lost here. The staff are kind and caring. There are activities to join in with (or not). Friends have been made. Throughout the seasons there are celebrations and special activities, bonfire night etc. It is her home.

Orchard House is a very friendly and homely home.
The clients and visitors are all treated with respect.
Nothing is too much trouble.
The home is very clean and tidy.
The clients are well catered for using their own clothes which are washed and changed each day.
The food is all homemade and is excellent and plenty of it.

My husband went there for respite but is now going to be a resident.

No-one wants to put their loved onto in a home - it's a horrible, frightening thought - handing over the care of your mum to strangers. But from our first visit, our shoulders dropped with relief knowing that mum would be loved, cared for and happy here to the end.

The Orchard House manager and staff are so loving and caring that it feels like mum is with an extended family and the other residents are friends who all support each other when they can. The kindness of the manager and all her staff is exceptional and their expert, professional, capable handling of all personal care is just wonderful. Every day there are supervised activities available to stimulate the mind and body which are fun and inclusive or your own room can be your sanctuary, decorated as you choose if you prefer.

Entertainment such as a pianist playing all the old songs, other musicians and quizzes, animal therapists bring their furry friends to be stroked, craft making and painting afternoons, gentle therapeutic exercise sessions and a hairdresser all come weekly, fortnightly or monthly.. Once a month there is a church service with communion followed in the afternoon by a church choir to lead hymn singing.

Seasonal favourites include; easter bonnets to make; fireworks on bonfire night; pantomimes and cards at Christmas. A beautiful garden to walk in or sit and enjoy the sunshine when summer comes or enjoy it from the warm, bright conservatory instead.

When that day comes for your relative to have twenty-four-hour care they will soon think of Orchard House as home with some surprising benefits. Your shoulders will drop with relief like ours did when you realise the quality of care is second to none.

I am writing to say how pleased I have been with all the staff at Orchard House for the care and respect they have given my mother over the last seven years. I live in Australia and it was very important for me to know my mother was "in good hands" as I couldn't be there with her on a daily basis. Whenever I visited from abroad, the staff couldn't have been more helpful or friendly. The home was always bright and welcoming and smelled fresh and clean and mum was always clean and well fed and very comfortable in her bed. She passed away on 20/12/17 and the staff were with her at the end, caring as always.

My relative was resident at Orchard House for four years up to her death in December 2017. This home was selected due to a recommendation from someone who had previously had a relative cared for there and had felt that the staff always provided excellent care whilst often going above and beyond.
I would like to now echo those comments based on my own experiences and interactions with the home in the care of my relative over the last four years.
At all times we felt that all the staff were actively involved and concerned for the wellbeing of my relative. They maintained excellent communication with myself. Any areas of concern with regards to my relatives health were raised and dealt with promptly by them and I was kept informed.
Going to visit there was always a pleasure. The staff made you very welcome no matter when you visited. There was a very low turnover of staff in those four years which I think reflects good leadership at the home.

I am happy to recommend Orchard House to others.

My brother arrived at Orchard house in March 2016. He is blind, unable to walk and his memory is fading. I visit every afternoon and we do crosswords and talk and listen to music. He is very settled at the care home and content. The home has many activities such as painting and my brother would love to have joined in. He has a very nice room where we can talk about his life, laugh and sing without interfering with the other residents. The staff are very kind, busy and approachable.

My mother is 94 years old and suffers from dementia and other health issues. She moved into Orchard House in February 2017. The care she receives from all the staff is fantastic. They are so kind, loving, thoughtful and always professional. The home is always clean and homely. There are activities to join in every day if the residents like to. The food is fresh, home cooked and delicious. I cannot recommend Orchard House highly enough!

My mother in law has been in Orchard House since February 2017. She has dementia and cancer. All of the staff are wonderful. They are so caring and kind, always on hand to help in all circumstances. The standards of cleanliness is first class - as is the home cooked food!

The manager is very professional and very kind, she plays a key role in the home every day. The home is well staffed and I couldn't praise it highly enough.
