My Dad is having short term respite care after needing to have some extra support to eat properly and put on some weight.
Staff have been very welcoming and informative. The home is kept very clean and tidy. My Dad has settled really well and looked so much better just after a week. He wants to stay!

My aunt was only here for a short stay, but I cannot praise the staff and management enough for their exceptional care and attention. The home had a lovely atmosphere and the staff were always smiling. I would highly recommend this home to others.

My mother spent a year and a half at Saffrons and I have only good things to say about it. I spent a lot of time visiting care homes in the area and I knew Saffrons was the right place from the moment I walked through the door. This beautiful old house has been designed so that each room has privacy
and comfort and there are activities for those who want them, and privacy for those who don't.
My experience with the staff was exceptional as the care and respect they provided to my mother was heart-warming. Everyone I met was focused on taking care of the residents, and the wonderful manager bent over backwards trying to meet my mother's needs before she needed to move to a nursing home.
The fact that Saffrons is privately owned is a great advantage as the owner is very hands-on and makes regular visits to the home, as well as including residents and their families in meetings and updates. Saffrons was a wonderful home for my mother and I will always be grateful.

I thought it was best for my mum to be in respite care while I was away for a week. When I brought her home, she said she had enjoyed her stay. The staff were lovely and friendly, and the food and care was excellent. It was so good to know that my mum was in safe hands while I was away. Thanks very
much.

Due to a health crisis in late December, it became very urgent to find respite care for my 85-year-old mam, who has Parkinson's. As Saffrons is only a five-minute walk from my home and had excellent scores, I contacted them first, and from the moment I spoke with the manager, I felt immensely reassured.
Following a long chat, I was invited to visit the same day, even though it was December 27th. I was immediately impressed with how exceptionally friendly, professional and welcoming all the staff were on my first visit and the subsequent visit with Mam, who felt the same. We immediately decided to book Mam for two weeks of respite care, and it was a wonderful decision. The care has been first rate with all staff going above and beyond to make Mam feel safe and welcome; her health has improved with each day in such a caring and supportive environment, and she is now heading home to sell her house and make the move to Saffrons permanent.
I cannot thank the Saffrons staff enough.
Highly recommended.

My friend was not happy where she was living and asked me to find her somewhere not on a building site where she was living before moving to Saffrons. My own mother spent time in this care home before she died 10-years ago, and we can still think of all the happy times she had there. My dear friend
was my mothers best friend, and I rang them up, and I was very lucky to find a room in Saffrons. It's a very big room with very nice views, and she has made a sitting area in the window and at the back is her bedroom. She has her own toilet and sink, and next door is her bathroom with a shower. The food is as great as it was when my dear old mum was there 10-years ago. All the carers are so helpful, and nothing is too much trouble for them. When she moved in, it was all hands to the deck, even the chef was helping, and we said that the banoffee pie locked extremely scrumptious, so the manager surprised us with a piece each - yummy. Not brought in stuff here, all cooked on the premises.

Our Grandmother moved into Saffrons in August 2019. When we visiting care homes, we both felt instantly a good feeling when we went to Saffrons. It was clean, the staff we met were friendly, and all the residents we saw seemed happy. The staff and management did everything they could to ensure that
Granny settled in well. She seemed to get a new lease of life when she moved in, and we both knew that she was being looked after well, which meant we could relax a little knowing she was cared for. In her last few days, we were kept informed of her condition, and after she passed, the staff again did everything they could for us.
I know Granny enjoyed being looked after at Saffrons, we could not have picked a better care home for her. Thank you from both of us for looking after her in her last years.

From the word go, from initial assessment to the welcome and friendliness of manager and staff, I cannot praise highly enough this care home. My friend was extremely happy and although sadly has had to go into nursing care, she will miss the staff and residents of Saffrons.

The Saffrons staff have completely turned my dad around. In the short time he has been here he has got all of his life back. From going in for respite for self-neglect, he is now a fulltime resident who is full of life. The staff have sorted his medication and manage his diabetes he's eating properly
and getting all the help he needs.

On arrival at Saffrons, I was delighted with my room. Having been reluctant to leave the flat I had shared with my friend and companion, very happily for nearly 5 years. Sadly on his death at 95 at the end of March, I was not in a good state of mind. Coming to Saffrons, I'm afraid I was very anti-social
for the first 2 months, did not want to leave my room, lost interest in life in general and had loss of appetite. Thanks to the very caring friendly staff and wonderful help given by all the staff, life is once again enjoyable. Thanks to all.

I think Saffron’s care home is a very good home where people are treated with dignity, and may l add, sometimes in very difficult circumstances.
The management and the staff are very obliging, and kindly to my Mother.
The room is very comfy and with her own furniture around her, makes her feel very
much at home. lt is very safe and clean and if required, plenty of activities for the old people.
Overall opinion is excellent!

My mother has been at the care home for a few months now and I have found all staff to be caring and attentive to my Mother's needs. Her room is bright well decorated and clean.
They are taken on regular trips and have a varied menu of activities which my mother has been encouraged to go on. I know
that she is comfortable and happy with her care.
I would recommend Saffrons.

Current Review Score: 8.9 (8.914)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 8.9 (8.914) out of 10 for Saffrons Care Home is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 4.9 out of 5 from 3 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 4.0 out of 5 from 3 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.914 for Saffrons Care Home is calculated as follows: ( (32 Excellents x 5) + (3 Goods x 4) ) ÷ 35 Ratings = 4.914
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 4 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Saffrons Care Home is based on 3 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 10 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, and then 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews and then 0.1 Points for the next five Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.100, 7th = 0.100, 8th = 0.100, 9th = 0.100, 10th = 0.100) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 = 3.25
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 20 registered maximum number of service users is 4. 3 Positive Reviews ÷ 4 = 0.75
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
