Koinonia provides residential care for older people in Worthing, and offers person-centred Christian care.

The home has a warm and welcoming feel and care packages are put together to suit each individual resident, who is kept updated about any care decisions, as are their families.

Weekly Charges per Person

Our fees are charged per person, per week. We do not require a deposit and we do not require a guarantor. This will include the provision of personal care, food and drink, heating, lighting, equipment, laundry, insurance of personal items, and in-house activities.


These fees are valid between 1st April 2025 and 31st March 2026 and are reviewed annually. The Registered Manager will assess you prior to admission to determine the level of care provision required. During a stay at Koinonia, fees can change if the level of care you need increases or if there is a change in the law which significantly impacts the cost of your care. You will be given one month’s notice of any changes in fees.


We have three levels of care provision at Koinonia:
• Basic residential care: this is where the assessed needs are relatively uncomplicated and where mechanical or technical assistance is rarely needed.
• Higher dependency: this is where the assessed needs are complex and where mechanical or technical assistance is intermittently needed.
• Enhanced care: this is where assessed needs are highly complex and where mechanical or technical assistance is frequently needed. We charge for dementia care at this rate.


If you intend to pay your own fees, you are expected to have liquid funds to meet the home's fees for a minimum of two years. If you have any queries about paying for your care feel free to contact the managers to discuss this.

A good relationship with everyone at Koinonia. Nothing is too much trouble. Care is outstanding. Access has been difficult due to covid - they have had no covid situations. Perhaps more routine updates of our resident would be preferred. To our mind - a wonderful home!

My parent receives extremely good care and is happy and relaxed in the Home. The staff are very patient and understanding and his general health and well-being have improved considerably since he moved into the Home and stopped living on his own.

Where Koinonia excel is the Christian ethos and atmosphere. There is a great sense of being God's family, substantiated by the love and care given. The home feels a bit 'old fashioned' but seems to suit the present generation of residents. But with a view to future residents, it would be good to give
the whole place a facelift. This is not a complaint but a suggestion with a view to the future. Koinonia is a great place.

Mum has been a resident at Koinonia for just over 5 years and her care package has been adapted to accommodate her ongoing frailty and ability. She is very happy to be cared for by the team and feels quite at home. The staff have been very careful throughout the pandemic and have not had any cases of
Covid-19. Obviously, my responses are based on history, as I have not visited my Mum in her room since March 2020.

For her stay, we have noted the sensitive care delivered by Koinonia. Staff have been friendly, and helpful and have flexibly accommodated family visits and phone calls. All much appreciated.

Koinonia is a caring environment and has a uniquely Christian ethos. For my mother, who is a life long churchgoer, this brings great comfort and security. The caring approach of the staff is exemplary and all staff know and understand the residents well. Although visiting has been restricted, we had
been confident that Mum has been well cared for during this time.

The care home has worked in such a way to keep Covid19 out and protect their residents. Although the residents have had their ups and downs having been isolated from their relatives and friends the staff have been very upbeat to keep their spirits up for as long as possible. Medial care hs also been
maintained.

When I needed to get my friend into the home, the management were really helpful. My friend seems very content. In the face of COVID, I have been able to visit in a cubicle. I have found other homes who have made visiting difficult. I have found the staff able to show friendship and they seem very caring.
The fact that my friend is content is a blessing to those who care about her.

It is difficult to give very concise views about certain aspects of the home, as, since my mother arrived there in July 2020, I have had very limited involvement and access due to the ongoing pandemic. I am however grateful that I have been allowed to make regular, socially-distanced outside visits
to see Mum.
In terms of getting Mum transferred to Koinonia and managing her through the challenges of settling into the new home at a time when she had just been bereaved of her husband, the management and staff have all been excellent. We are very thankful for the attention and understanding given to Mum's various, often challenging mental and physical health needs.
Our main reason for choosing Koinonia was for its strong Christian ethos. It is a real blessing knowing Mum is well cared for both physically and spiritually.
And as a family, we are grateful for the support given to us by the management and staff too, particularly at the time Dad passed away.

Koinonia is a very caring and efficient home and my mother-in-law has been looked after with great care and attention since her arrival in November 2016. Due to the situation with Covid this past year, our contact with her has been very limited but we are very grateful for the efforts to keep the home
free of infection and for this, they are to be highly commended. W look forward to renewed visits as the situation eases.

I would recommend this home immensely. It is the best I think in the whole of West and East Sussex. The carers are next to none. The senior staff are exemplary. Everything they do is for the residents, helping and thoughtful to the extreme. Anything the people want who stay at this home, they have.
It's amazing that in this day and age you can get the exemplary care people deserve.

John

John Manea

Job Title: Registered Care Manager Joined: 2021

John Manea has been a Registered Care Manager at Koinonia since November 2021, having joined the home in 2016 as Deputy Manager. He has been in the care industry for the last 14 years and is passionate about people living fulfilled lives.


John became a Christian in his teens at the witnessing of one of his best friends who had just given his life to the Lord. He is married and has two young girls. He and his family worship with the Lancing Tabernacle Church, and are involved in the life of the church by supporting different areas of ministry.

Nathan

Nathan Page

Job Title: Business Manager Joined: 2023

Nathan joined Koinonia in June 2023 as our Business Manager. He lives in Yapton with his wife and two children and spent the previous five years working for a domiciliary care provider in Chichester.


He attends Saint Wilfrid Church in Bognor Regis and is part of the leadership team for the men’s ministry. Nathan is also a Trustee for two charities. Outside of work, he enjoys going to the gym, kayaking and cycling.

Sarah

Sarah Whelan-Mcrea

Job Title: Activities and Community Engagement Facilitator Joined: 2022

Sarah joined Koinonia in November 2022 as a Hummingbird and in March 2023 she started her new role as Activities and Community Engagement Facilitator.


Sarah has always been a Christian and has undertaken many different roles in her church life, from junior church to fundraising and organising events.


She enjoys working and spending time with the family members in Koinonia working with local churches and engaging with the local community to enhance the spiritual, mental and physical wellbeing of the Koinonia family.


In her spare time, Sarah enjoys spending time with her family and visiting antiques and vintage fairs.
