We moved my Mum , at the age of 101 , from a care home in Yorkshire to Finborough Court in January 2026.We had looked around several care homes when we came across Finborough Court . We were so impressed with what we saw that we immediately said ' yes ' when offered a place. It felt as though it was
meant to be .
It's one of the best decisions I've ever made , moving my Mum there.I wish I'd moved her before !
Sadly , she only spent 9 weeks there but what a wonderful ,caring place to spend your last days.
We cannot recommend Finborough Court more highly. The whole TEAM there were exemplary ,

My mother moved in to Emmaus House Residential Home in January 2026 and has settled in so well.
Prior to living at Emmaus House she had struggled at home with carers going in 3 times a day for several years. She had lost weight due to an ongoing illness and was often confused.
Since moving in to Emmaus
House, all her friends and family have remarked on how well and happy she looks. Mum enjoys joining in with the organised activities and bible study, is eating healthy meals and has got to know other residents and the lovely staff.
My mother is well cared for and respected. She has a lovely room with her familiar things around her and visitors are always made to feel welcome.
We are so pleased that she chose to move to Emmaus House and hope she has many happy years living there.
Reply from CHRISSIE Medway Steel, Manager at Emmaus HouseGrateful thanks for taking the time to leave this review which I shall share and celebrate with the team, I am so pleased that your mother has settled well here at Emmaus House. Your mum is a wonderful lady and it is a pleasure to know her.

Bridgemead Nursing Home

Overall Experience 5.0 out of 5
My dad has been a resident at Bridgemead Nursing Home for around 8 years, and more recently my mum has just spent three weeks there recuperating after a brief spell in hospital. Bridgemead has been abler to offer both my parents a fantastic amount of care, support and help in their later lives, and
I would recommend the home very highly indeed. I'm not sure there's ever been a single complaint in the eight years my dad has lived there, the staff have supported him, kept him very jolly, and treated him with dignity and respect. All the staff, in my experience, seem caring, friendly and very professional. You couldn't ask for a better home really. It's also worth noting that it's set on the river bank, and as such has lovely views of all the nature and wildlife that the river has to offer.
Reply from Elizabeth Goodsman, Business Manager at Bridgemead Nursing HomeThank you for your very kind and encouraging review. We have a great team at Bridgemead and are delighted to be caring for your Dad and having mum join us recently for respite was very lovely for them as a couple and also for us.

I needed urgent respite for my 90 year old Mother and contacted Finborough Court for help. They could not have been more responsive and arranged an initial 2 week stay at sort notice. Particular mention goes to Rachel the Care Home Manager, and Karen the Business Manager ,for their help at a very stressful
time.
The Home and all the staff have been top quality since the moment we walked through the doors, and the care my mother has received is exemplary.
I am now arranging to make my mother a permanent resident at the end of her initial respite period.
Thank you to all at Finborough Court.

This care home genuinely feels like a home, especially as it is not too big, and it felt like the right choice immediately. The staff are wonderful and my family enjoys talking to them and catching up as much as my mother does, who resides there. We have strong peace of mind that our mother is in good
hands, being cared for, and is being fed quality meals. Every staff member is kind and caring and patient with the residents. The location of the home is also a plus, being so close to Valley gardens for walks with mum when the weather improves! My mother finds comfort in knowing that the home is a Christian home and regular prayers are a daily part of her routine.

Finborough Court is a wonderful place. When my Mum was leaving after two months respite care she said to everyone 'I've been happy here'. The team are dedicated and kind. I often thanked the senior carers for things they'd done and one of them always replied, 'It's what we're here for' as if giving
such excellent care is the most normal thing in the world.
One week I phoned the GP practice to be sure Finborough had informed them of an important new medication prescribed by the hospital. The GP dispensary said to me 'I wouldn't worry about Finborough Court, they're generally spot on'. I increasingly felt Mum was in very safe hands.
People living at Finborough are called Family Members and that's how they're treated. I had lunch there several times and saw the carers patiently helping the one or two people struggling to eat, focusing on them as if they were the most important person in the room.
This is how care should be done. The food is also very good:)

We were very impressed by the standard of care provision, going beyond very good basic care, extending to pastoral care and daily activities to suit an elderly Christian. Support is also provided to resident's families through meetings provided by management and 'The way we care' team, and reception
staff are very friendly.
Cleanliness was excellent and the building facilities are fantastic being newly purpose-built, with wonderful shared activity spaces for activities including church services.
We liked the layout of the four households, each with its own lounge/dining area, with a homely arrangement of furniture, rather than a care home feel.
Care itself was of a very good standard, we were never once concerned that it was lacking, and when our aunt became immobile, extra provision of special chair and mattress etc was provided, and we always felt the care team were approachable. In her last weeks, both care and pastoral support were excellent. It was everything we wished for.
Reply from Sarah Stockinger, Business Manager at Middlefields HouseThank you so much for taking the time to give such detailed and encouraging feedback. We have the most fantastic teams who all give their very best to ensure all our family members are loved and well cared for - along with providing and maintaining a beautiful home to live in. There is always so much going on with a variety of appropriate activities and sincere pastoral care that makes for a wonderful environment, with community at its core. It is such an honour and privilege for us to care for those living with us until they step into glory and share with loved ones the goodness of God.

I am delighted to have found this very caring care home for my mum. From the first day of moving in, the management and carers have always taken the time to make mum feel happy, active and safe in her world that has become more and more confusing with her increasing dementia. As a religiously based
care home, I have come to realise through her time at Milward House, how important mum's faith is to her. It is clear that ethos engenders fellowship and a wonderful sense of community spirit and mutual respect between the residents which is matched and complemented by the management and staff. Milward House has become mum's home and thank you so much for the care you provide and how you have made that happen.
Reply from Sid Martin, Business Manager at Milward HouseThank you so much for your kind words and recognition of the person-centred care we offer, and the value of the Christian support that is so important to our residents. My mother has been at Emmaus for over two years now and really values the individual care, and genuine 'home from home ' feel - this is typified by the use of 'our Emmaus family' rather than being a 'resident.' This wonderful place offers the opportunities for the development of new and significant
friendships in later life, and at the heart of this is the firm, compassionate and inclusive commitment to faith - modelled by the carers and management, in all they provide for this family. My mother said recently,' Nothing is too much trouble ' both in terms of her physical, intellectual, and emotional needs, and that she feels respected, and listened to.
From our family's perspective, we always receive a genuine and warm welcome, and love being able to join with the Emmaus family for special events and meals taken with our loved one. I can see just what a positive effect the overall experience of Emmaus has had on my mother's life .I thoroughly recommend this loving and unique place.

A fantastic care home. The home is modern and clean, and the staff are brilliant. The recently refurbished lounge is a lovely homely room, with comfortable seating and different flexible areas for watching TV, chatting in small groups or with visiting family and friends, but is easily transformed for
taking part or watching any of the events, games, quizzes and visits from outside guests and entertainers that are regularly organised.
There is a real family feel to Emmaus House, many of the staff have worked there for decades, and are really devoted to the home and the residents. The food is excellent, with choices at each meal. Once a month they have an "armchair travel" day, visiting a different country, with crafts, videos and quizzes about the chosen destination, and the menu for that day has food from the region too. Very entertaining!
I would highly recommend Emmaus House to anyone looking for a care home for a family member.
Reply from Kelly Hurton, Business Manager at Emmaus HouseThank you so much for your kind review.
