Koinonia Christian Care Home

from Rob V (Son of Resident) published on 17 June 2026
Submitted via Website • Report
Overall Experience 5.0 out of 5
My mother lived at Koinonia for four years and during that time she was cared for with such love, kindness and dignity by the wonderful team. She especially enjoyed the food, particularly the puddings! Whenever I visited, I always found Koinonia to be a peaceful, warm and genuinely caring environment,
with a Christian ethos. The values of kindness, compassion and respect were clearly reflected in the way everyone was cared for. Being offered a drink during my visits was such a thoughtful touch. Communication with relatives was excellent and I was always kept informed about everything that was happening regarding my mum's care. My mum lived with dementia during her final years and recently went to be with the Lord. The compassion and support shown to our family during such a difficult time was a real blessing and deeply appreciated. I can wholeheartedly recommend Koinonia; John and the whole team do an exceptional job and I will always be grateful for the care my mum received there.
Reply from John Manea, Manager at Koinonia Christian Care HomeDear Rob,
Thank you so much for your kind words and appreciation.
It was a joy, a privilege and a blessing to support and be part of your mother's final years. Her prayers and kindness has been a blessing to us all.
It was good to have you around and thank you for all encouragement to the team.
Thank you!

My mum has been in the home just over two years and has been well cared for as she has declined. She is treated as an individual and her care is personalised accordingly. Care is of a high standard and the carers are all well trained. The carers are all fantastic with mum, despite the fact she can be
challenging on some days.

Wonderful, caring friendly home. Always welcoming whenever we as a family visit. Mum has been in here for seventeen months and is very well cared for by the amazing staff. The meals are very appetising with plenty of choice. There are daily activities for the residents to participate in, also day trips
to Lytham and the illuminations to mention a few. Her room is lovely and clean as is all the home. We could not ask for anymore so glad they had availability when we needed it at short notice. Definitely home from home, thank you Susan and all the girls.

Milward House

from D B (Next of Kin) published on 4 June 2026
Submitted via Website • Report
Overall Experience 5.0 out of 5
Milward House has looked after my relative with exemplary care. She has always been a strong willed lady, and had enjoyed independence until her mid-nineties. However, after a fall and then a stroke, we chose Milward because of the very friendly atmosphere, and it's Christian ethos, which chimed with
her deeply-held faith. Failing sight, hearing, speech and comprehension meant that she became increasingly difficult. The staff were extraordinary in their love, patience, tolerance and care, particularly over the last year. This was especially important to her family since we all live a considerable distance from Milward, making visits less frequent than we would have liked. We, therefore, had to rely completely on the home to be her day to day family. Thank you, Sid, and all your staff.
Reply from Sid Martin, Business Manager at Milward HouseThank you so much for the appreciation of the staff team here at Milward and the loving, person-centred care we endeavour to offer.
She was indeed a formidable lady and a real character, and this only made caring for her through her challenges more rewarding as we got to know her so well. As you say, part of the family here.

We acted as professional attorneys for a lady who had the pleasure of spending her last few years at Milward House. The home was absolutely perfect for her allowing her to live in a kind and friendly atmosphere whilst providing her with the fellowship and opportunity to worship which was of great importance
to her. The staff were always on hand to deal with requests quickly and communicated with us well and clearly. We felt that the staff were very attuned to the lady's needs (even when she was less able to communicate them herself) which was very reassuring for us (not being family ourselves). All the staff treat the residents with such a level of care and respect and it was a pleasure working with them.
Reply from Sid Martin, Business Manager at Milward HouseMany thanks for your kind words recognising the person-centred care we offer through a dedicated and passionate staff team.

My aunt has been a resident at Milward House for 5 years. Her health has gradually deteriorated over time, but the care she receives here has always been excellent.
There is a calm and caring atmosphere in the home and a very good ratio of carers to residents which means everyone always receives the
attention they need.
I am always made to feel welcome when I visit and encouraged to join in any activities which are going on.
My aunt has a very good relationship with the carers and knows them by name.
Reply from Sid Martin, Business Manager at Milward HouseIt is a joy and a pleasure to have your aunt with us: she is a real character and the genuine affection is a two-way street.

I found Koinonia for my dad with Alzheimer's after living a year at home with a live in carer after the passing of my mum. What a wonderful difference in the type of care and support! Dad has been in Koinonia since January 2026. This home has the most warmest, friendliest feel to it, the support
from the staff for my dad and myself is wonderful! The food is amazing and my dad does like to eat! A real family atmosphere and a home from home with the added advantage of the Christian atmosphere and spiritual guidance.

My mother moved in to Emmaus House Residential Home in January 2026 and has settled in so well.
Prior to living at Emmaus House she had struggled at home with carers going in 3 times a day for several years. She had lost weight due to an ongoing illness and was often confused.
Since moving in to Emmaus
House, all her friends and family have remarked on how well and happy she looks. Mum enjoys joining in with the organised activities and bible study, is eating healthy meals and has got to know other residents and the lovely staff.
My mother is well cared for and respected. She has a lovely room with her familiar things around her and visitors are always made to feel welcome.
We are so pleased that she chose to move to Emmaus House and hope she has many happy years living there.

My dad has been a resident at Bridgemead Nursing Home for around 8 years, and more recently my mum has just spent three weeks there recuperating after a brief spell in hospital. Bridgemead has been abler to offer both my parents a fantastic amount of care, support and help in their later lives, and
I would recommend the home very highly indeed. I'm not sure there's ever been a single complaint in the eight years my dad has lived there, the staff have supported him, kept him very jolly, and treated him with dignity and respect. All the staff, in my experience, seem caring, friendly and very professional. You couldn't ask for a better home really. It's also worth noting that it's set on the river bank, and as such has lovely views of all the nature and wildlife that the river has to offer.
Reply from Elizabeth Goodsman, Business Manager at Bridgemead Nursing HomeThank you for your very kind and encouraging review.
