My mother has been a resident at Emmaus House for a couple of years now. She continues to thrive here, and says that she feels blessed to have been able to come to this truly compassionate and caring place in which Christian faith is celebrated , empowered and lived out by the staff members who serve and look after her needs from day to day . Mum's complex visual needs are met with compassion and attention to detail , and thus she is enabled to fully participate in the range of activities on offer- including bowls and skittles - and to be active in the discussions and special events . She feels respected , listened to , and has had new opportunities of 'life ' rather than just 'living out' her later years :being able to give a talk to others about her interest in Ioana , and to develop her knowledge whilst participating in the themed food days from around the world, and varied music events . Welcoming, inclusive, to afford life affirming days , and well being - thank you Emmaus .

My mother moved in to Emmaus House Residential Home in January 2026 and has settled in so well.
Prior to living at Emmaus House she had struggled at home with carers going in 3 times a day for several years. She had lost weight due to an ongoing illness and was often confused.
Since moving in to Emmaus House, all her friends and family have remarked on how well and happy she looks. Mum enjoys joining in with the organised activities and bible study, is eating healthy meals and has got to know other residents and the lovely staff.
My mother is well cared for and respected. She has a lovely room with her familiar things around her and visitors are always made to feel welcome.

We are so pleased that she chose to move to Emmaus House and hope she has many happy years living there.

This care home genuinely feels like a home, especially as it is not too big, and it felt like the right choice immediately. The staff are wonderful and my family enjoys talking to them and catching up as much as my mother does, who resides there. We have strong peace of mind that our mother is in good hands, being cared for, and is being fed quality meals. Every staff member is kind and caring and patient with the residents. The location of the home is also a plus, being so close to Valley gardens for walks with mum when the weather improves! My mother finds comfort in knowing that the home is a Christian home and regular prayers are a daily part of her routine.

Mum has been in Emmaus House for just over a year now, she settled straight away, mainly due to the gentle care and support of the staff.
She enjoys the activities and especially the services on a Sunday afternoon.
All the staff are very approachable if we have any questions.

There is always a lovely caring, family atmosphere when we visit.

The staff were very caring and gentle with mum who was just in for 7 days recovery care following a hip replacement operation. The room was lovely and quiet with food facilities. The room was on the ground floor which meant easy access.

Following a decline in Mum's health the family and GP agreed it was best to look into care options for her safety and wellbeing. As next of kin I was overwhelmed with information and after some resource discovered Emmaus House as a possible option. Emmaus House is in a beautiful location opposite Valley Gardens, a park Mum loves and as a family we grew up in the local area.

I visited Emmaus House and was welcomed by the team and quickly felt at ease and all my questions were answered, the Christian ethos is evident without being overbearing and the team clearly are passionate about the care they provide.

Mum has now lived at Emmaus house on respite care for 6 weeks, her health has improved significantly and she has engaged well with the fantastic routine of great food, company and care. The transition from living at home was always going to be emotional and difficult for Mum and the family, Emmaus House team have been incredible at every step of the journey.

There is a most wonderful atmosphere at Emmaus House that my husband and I were aware of from our very first visit. It is obviously run on the Christian ethos of do unto others as you would have them do unto you. Everyone is so happy, caring, skilled, knowledgeable and goes the extra mile. We are really happy and thankful that my husband has a wonderful home here. The care is outstanding. Thank you so much you give to everyone. PS. Plus, the food is superb.

My auntie is a long term resident of Emmaus House. She has enjoyed a very happy, contented and safe life in the home. As the years have passed by, she has received the increased care and support appropriate to her health needs. Enthusiastic staff provide numerous and varied activities, giving vital stimulation and lots of laughter! Emmaus is a very welcoming home maintained to a very high standard, a true community for which we are very grateful.

My Godmother was a resident at Emmaus House for over two years up to her death in November, and I was always happy with the care that she received, and the family atmosphere of the home. When visiting, we often took part in organised activities, which was most enjoyable. The staff were always friendly and helpful and I would certainly recommend Emmaus House based on my Godmother's experience there.

My aunt lived at Emmaus House for several years. She died there a year ago after she and all her family received excellent care and support throughout her time at Emmaus House.
The ongoing care shown to our family is wonderful. They are always there for support to us, and we still feel part of the Emmaus Family. I am taking a friend, (whose mother also was cared for and died in Emmaus House) with me to visit Emmaus House as we have been invited to join the residents and team before Christmas.

Thank you for this follow-up care Emmaus House.

Prior to my in-law moving into Emmaus House its reputation had preceded it. On moving in and over the time she has been there, their reputation has been confirmed.
The quality of accommodation and services are excellent. The staff and care provided is of a high quality. It is a very personable environment for very needy people.

As a regular visitor I am treated with kindness and respect and see firsthand the love and care extended to service users, visitors and staff alike.

There is no better place than Emmaus House for its family-centred approach that actively involves the residents in every aspect of their care. It is a truly amazing place where everyone on the staff goes above and beyond in their care for the residents and makes visitors so welcome.

It is a great comfort to know my mother-in-law receives such care and is so happy to be at Emmaus House, but their whole approach to care has reached new heights because my wife and I both commented after a recent visit that she looks so vibrant and confident. The approach to care really is enabling my mother-in-law to flourish at Emmaus.
