All staff were welcoming Home was clean and not 'smelly'. Residents being entertained by musician in main lounge. Visited a resident in lounge and also one in her room.

My mother in law is receiving the best care possible she has been here for a little over three years and her health and overall well being have improved tremendously.

I feel that the total team at Shottermill works together in caring for their residents in a compassionate way. They ensure my mother is well cared for and happy and her whole being has improved since she left her home nearly 3 years ago. This allows me to be confident she is being well looked after as I live a long way from the home.

Soon afterwards my friend moved into Shottermill House. She walked around for ages saying I can't believe I now live here. I see my friend's happy face, well cared for, meeting all her needs. She has made friends. She can now voice her own needs which she could not do before. She has fitted into Shottermill life like a glove. My friend loves the daily devotions, she enjoys the food and the choices she is offered. The daily activities and outings are so meaningful for her. She loves walking around the garden. Both my parents have received care at Shottermill House for several years. My father has recently passed away, and the care he received was outstanding. As, his daughter, I was informed of his various ailments and general well-being very frequently. The dignified way the home treats all its residents is incredibly special. My mom suffers from Alzheimer's and is included in as many activities as she can manage. The home is filled with love and compassion from all staff members, which reflects the Christian values it's based on. In addition, the food... especially the homemade cakes are delicious. I'm forever thankful my parents chose here to spend their later years.

Rooms on the small side but perfectly adequate. Lovely small lounge for private family gatherings.

My wife suffers from Alzheimer's and has been at the Shottermill House for 16 months. During that time I have been impressed by how both she and I have been treated. Leaders are visible and exemplify the values of the home. There is a clear team dynamic with mutual respect and humour a feature. Despite the daily challenges spiritual and welfare standards are maintained and I particularly like the openness of the quarterly review. The 'medical' team deals well with the pressure of ailing fairly members and has always dealt politely and responsively to my questions. The use of hummingbirds provided is an excellent innovation.

My mother benefitted hugely from the kindness and attention to detail that Shottermill House staff showed her throughout her 9 months with them. Nothing was too much for them and they did their very best for her. So much so that she felt confident to face death and life beyond with confidence and peace. Her final two weeks couldn't have been better and we are so thankful to all the staff for all they did for her.

Shottermill is an extraordinary place. I sensed the presence of God as soon as I walked through the door. It had been strongly recommended by a friend whose Dad was a resident so we were so grateful when a room became available for my mum. She had no desire to move into a care home but finding round-the-clock care in her own home to meet her physical needs had become impossible and she lived too far away from her family. Mum quickly realised that the standard of care at Shottermill was exceptional: her emotional, physical and spiritual needs were all being met by an exceptional team of carers within the context of a loving Christian community and she was incredibly grateful. Nothing was too much trouble. Having her hair done weekly; enjoying daily devotions and engaging in the exceptional breadth of daily activities offered - e.g. playing games with school children, were all highlights. The carers, management and fellow residents became family and her end-of-life care was outstanding.

We moved my father into Shottermill House after he had become bed-bound following a fall and could no longer be cared for at home. He had been terribly lonely after my mother's death 14 months before so the warmth of the community at Shottermill was a wonderful gift to him. He loved his room and thoroughly enjoyed getting to know all the staff and becoming well-known to each of them. He had real conversations with them. What is so strong at Shottermill is the relationship between the residents and the care staff. There is a genuine sense of family and safety within the Body of Christ. Real love and real care. Care staff went above and beyond to take care of Dad and we all so appreciated it. Shottermill was a game changer for Dad and for us as a family in the last 13 months of his life. He loved the activities especially the hymn singing on Mondays with a particular staff member. We cannot recommend Shottermill highly enough.

She participated in those events that appealed and enjoyed the privacy of the garden at other times. It was a good time in the circumstances.

All of the staff at Shottermill were caring and compassionate towards my father during his two years there. They would go out of their way to ensure my father was happy and comfortable and treated him with dignity and respect at all times.

Dad chose to live at Shottermill House and we visited soon after he moved in. As soon as we entered, the lounge was bright and airy and the residents were enjoying a cup of tea. The staff serving them smiled and welcomed us warmly. This impression of a warm, friendly environment continued even when the staff were busy and the weather miserable! If we visited at a tea time we were offered a cuppa and a homemade piece of cake! The care given to Dad was loving and considerate and he was treated with respect. He was very much a 'family member' and we were counted as such when we were with him. He was enabled to make his room his own personal space. There were no restrictions on him or us as to when we could visit him or take him out. It was lovely to know that as he became more frail he would not have to leave the place that was his home and indeed as the end of his life approached the care provided was excellent.

He was fed well, was always clean and enjoyed the Christian fellowship.

The staff are exceptional, always kind, caring and loving. They gave my mother time and became more than just carers, they became her friends. I have found all aspects of my mother's time with Shottermill House to be excellent.

Our dad was treated with love and care during his stay at Shottermill House. The staff engaged with him in a respectful but also touchingly friendly way, and he was well-integrated into the social life of the home. We were very grateful that the staff were very accommodating and kind to our family as his health declined and when he passed away. Visiting him was always easy. Communication with the home was always good, and the home's engagement with local healthcare was good too. I would strongly recommend Shottermill House for its quality of care. Our dad was valued and well looked after when he was most frail at the end of his life.

My dad stayed at Shottermill House for more than nine years, initially as assisted living following a stroke that he never fully recovered from, until last October 2023 when he died from cancer when he was receiving palliative care. Dad was always happy there and greatly appreciated the daily devotions, some of which he led, some from regular visitors to the home. He always kept a simple diary of activities and things that they did. On a number of times when I was visiting him, I was really impressed by the visitors who came to lead them in activities, drawing out things they loved, songs, poems, films, artwork and other talks. The care team loved him and helped him adjust as he got older to accept more help, which he didn't initially find easy. In his last months, Dad was so glad to be in Shottermill, to be cared for by his friends when he needed it most. As his family, this also helped us a lot to know how well he was looked after.

Mum found friends and companionship at Shottermill. She enjoyed the community and fellowship so lovingly given. Her favourite place was the summer house in the garden, and her biggest bugbear was the food. She always had someone to talk to and listen to her and often surprisingly found herself a source of blessing.

The staff at Shottermill were so very caring for my mother throughout her stay. From the gentle way they welcomed her in March, to the reassurance they gave her when she wandered, to the being with her and praying with her at the end, they never failed to be kind and loving. But they didn't just care for my mum but for the whole family. They made time to see us when we visited and phoned us whenever there was anything that they thought we should know. They included us in decision-making without abdicating responsibility for her care. The Christian ethos and practice shone through beautifully.

My mother entered this care home in March 2023 until her death in September 2023. From the beginning, Mum was welcomed and treated as a member of the family. She was well looked after and always dressed well. The staff knew her by name and the monitored her health and weight regularly and kept us informed of developments. The home always looked and felt fresh and welcoming.
