I had looked at Emmaus House previously a few years ago which unfortunately was too late at that point, so to actual get my father into the home was fantastic.
I was impressed not only with the premises which are clean, tidy and well set out, with a small number of residents (compared to other homes - a big plus that one) but also impressed with the staff - and i mean "all the staff", always pleasant with a smile and genuinely helpful with queries of any type.

My father has taken, and totally unexpected being very very independent, to being in the home like a duck to water, i think its the attention he receives and the company he gets from both the other residents and all the staff.

I can only thank the people that I made initial
contact with at Emmaus House to find a place for my mum, which is not a nice feeling that myself & brother had to do. Thanks to Julie, Kelly and Gill for their understanding during this stressful time.
Mum is in the best place for her needs and thanks to all the care team, sorry for no names as All are special to me, for their care and understanding during this time.

All at Emmaus house do not realise how much pressure has been taken away from the family during this major change for our Mum

Overall Experience
My dad moved into Emmaus House a few months ago. It was a difficult decision especially after experiencing a different carehome with mum a couple of years ago.

The staff have been absolutely brilliant from day one. They obviously care so much for their residents. They have taken time to really get to know them and go above and beyond to make dad feel at home. I was super sensitive to any indication dad wasn't doing well but I've had nothing but reassurance that dad is very well cared for. He is contented and looks really well. He loves sitting in the conservatory which looks out across the fields and in to the fells. There are loads of activities for residents, trips out, and there's a real sense of community. The atmosphere there is always very relaxed. The bible studies and services are especially important to dad. I wouldn't consider any other home for dad.

Thank you for your lovely review. We are here to make our residents feel like they are in a "home from home" and it sounds like your dad is enjoying his new surroundings. We try and make each day as varied as possible so that everyone can participate if they wish to.

A fantastic care home. The home is modern and clean, and the staff are brilliant. The recently refurbished lounge is a lovely homely room, with comfortable seating and different flexible areas for watching TV, chatting in small groups or with visiting family and friends, but is easily transformed for taking part or watching any of the events, games, quizzes and visits from outside guests and entertainers that are regularly organised.
There is a real family feel to Emmaus House, many of the staff have worked there for decades, and are really devoted to the home and the residents. The food is excellent, with choices at each meal. Once a month they have an "armchair travel" day, visiting a different country, with crafts, videos and quizzes about the chosen destination, and the menu for that day has food from the region too. Very entertaining!

I would highly recommend Emmaus House to anyone looking for a care home for a family member.

Reply from Kelly Hurton, Business Manager at Emmaus House

Thank you so much for your kind review. We are also over the moon with our new lounge/dining area - our family members have had lots of positive things to say about it. We also love our armchair travel days! Everyone loves to have their "passport" stamped and are always excited to see where we are going next!

Julie and her team are amazing. The care and compassion shown to residents is second to none. Our Aunt is thriving in the home and the food is delicious! We have even had Sunday lunch in the home with our Aunt and it was exceptional. The activities over the festive period have been lovely and very well thought out. From the moment you walk through the door you experience a warm welcoming buzz. The team work very well together and all really are amazing individuals . Thank you so much for looking after our Aunt and giving her the dignity that our older generation deserve.
