We accept those who are paying for their own care (self-funders), those who are being supported by the Local Authority, and those in receipt of Continuing Healthcare (CHC) funding.
Our fees include the provision of:
• Around the clock care from highly-trained staff
• Personal care - such as bathing, dressing, grooming
• Daily living assistance, tailored to individual needs
• Food, drink and snacks
• Heating and lighting
• Specialist equipment
• Personal laundry
• All of our in-house activities
• Spiritual and pastoral support
We have three levels of care provision at Emmaus House:
• Basic residential care: this is where the assessed needs are relatively uncomplicated and where mechanical or technical assistance is rarely needed.
• Higher dependency: this is where the assessed needs are complex and where mechanical or technical assistance is intermittently needed.
• Enhanced care: this is where assessed needs are highly complex and where mechanical or technical assistance is frequently needed. We charge for dementia care at this rate.
The Registered Care Manager will assess you prior to admission to determine the level of care provision required. These fees are valid between 1st April 2026 and 31st March 2027 and are reviewed annually. Our fees are charged per person, per week. We do not require a deposit and we do not require a guarantor.

Julie Crawford is a Registered Care Manager at Emmaus House, Whitehaven.
Kelly has worked in operation management for over 10 years as well as sales management and has overseen teams of over 200 people. She decided that it was time for a change and to find a position that dealt more with helping people. She believes God led her to Pilgrims' Friend Society as she says she has found the perfect balance with work and practicing her Christian faith at the same time.
Kelly has two grown up children and, although she is a Geordie originally from Wallsend, she has been living in Cumbria for 39 years.
