My brother has been a resident at Westfield House for 6 years and I visit regularly, often unannounced. I have nothing negative to stay. The staff are professional, caring and friendly. Management are efficient and approachable. Activities are varied and plenty.
The lack of a downstairs shower room
is a downside for some.
'Well done' and 'thank you' to the amazing staff. You are fantastic!

Our son has been a resident at Westfield House since 2018. During that time he has settled down and matured into a young adult. The staff are always very sensitive to his needs and disability and treat him with great respect. The atmosphere at the home is always warm and welcoming when we visit. Everyone
seems very happy there!

All the staff are welcoming when I enter, always offering me a chair when I come visit my grandmother and always making sure we are offered a drink and making sure she's okay at all times by ensuring she's got a drink and she's comfortable in her chair.

My husband and I are delighted with the care and support that my brother receives from the manager and his staff. He recently had a stay in hospital where the staff stayed with him 24 hours because he is non-verbal and was very frightened. We cannot thank them enough.

I’m so thankful for Charlotte and valentine for bringing my brother down to London. It was amazing to see him after quite a few years. He came with his friend and both of them seemed to have had a great day. I can’t believe how healthy and happy he is. He seems to have a great connection with the staff
Also thank you to Paul who allowed it. We were all tired by the end of the day. So thanks again guys

My brother moved into Westfield House in June 2022. He had already chosen how he wanted his room to be decorated and this was all done ready for him to move in. Since he moved in, he has seemed very happy and settled in quickly. Whenever we take him out he is always welcomed back by the staff and is
always happy to return.

It's been a very unusual year, but I feel in the circumstances, you have kept everyone safe even when Covid did hit the home in January. You have kept the residents occupied; the only thing I feel would have helped is maybe investing in an Ipad or tablet so residents can do face-to-face with family.
Keep up the good work. You can get through this; the light at the end of the tunnel is getting bigger!

Friendly staff. Management are extremely efficient and on the ball. Lots of great communication between us all. My son seems happy. I believe the home to be clean and safe. Waiting for Covid restrictions to lift, so my son can engage in all the activities in the local community.

I have some recent experience of two residential care homes for elderly people in north London and while Westfield House caters for a different sector, I have been very impressed with the staff, the care that everyone I have met has displayed and particularly the efforts made to provide meaningful and
interesting activities for the residents. The staff seem well trained and motivated and Westfield compares very favourably indeed with my previous experience of residential care.

I have lived at Westfield House for nearly two years now. It has been great thanks to the manager and all of the staff. They are always there when you need them, whether you are in trouble or just need a chat, they are there. You can have a laugh and a joke with them all at Westfield House. This is
a great home, and most of all this is my home and my family.

I like it at Westfield House. All staff on days and the night staff. I like talking to people who understand and take the time to listen to me. I have made some good friendships with other residents who live at Westfield. I am in a relationship with another resident at Westfield and I am pleased that

We would like to express how pleased we are with Westfield House Toftwood Dereham. The manager, key workers and all support workers are fantastic. The work they do with our son is brilliant. The food they provide, as he is a fussy eater, they will prepare. If he doesn't like what is on the menu they
will cook something which he likes. The personal care he receives again can't fault it and always smartly dressed, He is offered art, watching DVDs, going out and doing lots of activities. Every member of staff knows him and what we like about Westfield. There aren't many agency staff, yet the three they use are always the same which he likes as with autism he hates change. Westfield House in Toftwood Dereham is a residential home for people with autism which works so well for him. Westfield works so closely with us as parents and tells us if he is not well or feeling anxious and explain what are they doing and involve us as parents. Well done everyone a Westfield House.

My son has recently moved into Westfield within the last month. Right from the start, it was easy to see the passion that the staff have to help, their communication with myself has been second to none, and it is very clear their desire to make a difference to my son in his everyday life. His happiness
and health are first and foremost in everyone's thought's, so any praise given is not enough.

The staff are friendly and help the clients with what they need doing. The staff help me with preparing the meals, at tea times. Everyone gets taken out in the community with a member of staff. They encourage our hobbies, make sure the place is nice and tidy. The staff help me with my banking, as well
as sorting out a weekly activity list.

Current Review Score: 9.3 (9.331)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.3 (9.331) out of 10 for Westfield House is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 4.8 out of 5 from 5 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 4.5 out of 5 from 5 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.831 for Westfield House is calculated as follows: ( (50 Excellents x 5) + (8 Goods x 4) + (1 Satisfactorys x 3) ) ÷ 59 Ratings = 4.831
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 4.5 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Westfield House is based on 5 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 10 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, and then 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews and then 0.1 Points for the next five Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.100, 7th = 0.100, 8th = 0.100, 9th = 0.100, 10th = 0.100) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 = 3.5
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 12 registered maximum number of service users is 2.4, which has been reached with 5 Positive reviews. Points = 1
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.

Paul Stearman

Job Title: Registered Manager Joined: 2020

In 1996, Paul began working as a carer for Autism Anglia after choosing to move on from a successful career in engineering. Paul has since taken on multiple roles within the care sector and has a wealth of specialised knowledge, having worked as a carer, support worker, manager of autism day services, and registered home manager since May 2020.
One of Paul's dearest memories is being able to make a resident's wish of going to Butlins come true. Paul personally accompanied our resident on a getaway and took part in the entertainment, visited local attractions, attended shows and the funfair. Paul says these are memories that will stay with him forever.
What makes Westfield House different from other homes in Paul's opinion, is the fact that each resident's needs are met on an individual basis to ensure the highest quality care.
Staff are provided with the necessary tools to perform their jobs to the highest standards thanks to specialised training, enabling them to meet each of our resident's needs.
