My Mum was in Penmeneth for respite initially, but after an assessment and with Mum agreeing she stayed there. That was around 4 years ago. Over that last few weeks the residents have had colds and most of them were in their rooms as a precaution. Mum seemed happy enough. I asked if she wanted anything
or a radio on, but she said she was ok.
She is always clean and tidy, as is her room.
She has a good appetite and is happy.

My mum is really happy living here, which gives our family great peace of mind. The staff are friendly, kind, and always helpful, and they clearly take the time to get to know the residents. The food is healthy and well prepared, and the home is always clean while still feeling cosy and welcoming. I
also really appreciate the structured days, which help maintain routines and give residents a sense of stability and purpose. Overall, it's a caring, well-run home and I'm very grateful for the support they provide.

Pemeneth is a small home, and that is its charm. For elderly people with dementia, this home from home experience is perfect. But add that to the staff, it is a winning combination. Staff get to know evident really well and their families. They are always monitoring residents needs and act quickly if
things change. They have great expertise and loads of empathy. As a son whose mother resides here, I couldn't be happier with their level of care.

Well, what can we say; what a wonderful environment. The staff are delightful, friendly, reassuring and incredibly kind. My mother was placed in Penmeneth House after the best part of three months in hospital. She went in relatively well, coming out with a colostomy bag and terminal cancer. You can
imagine the heartache. The managers of the home have taken us in, not just our mother, and treated us all with such compassion.
This home is exactly that a home. The staff know the residents and get to know the families that come to visit, greeting us all by name.
My mother's needs are met, and she is as happy as she can be away from my father.
The home is clean and comfortable, and the food smells wonderful and home-cooked daily.
I will forever be grateful to the manager and all the wonderful staff for the care they continue to give my darling mum.

We recently visited a dear, elderly aunt who is resident in Penmeneth House and receiving 24-hour care. Although bed-ridden and entirely dependent on the staff, she is kept in fresh bedding and is cheerful and very well looked after by staff who really care. The staff warmly welcome visitors and generously
offer a hot drink even though they are clearly kept fully occupied with the needs of the elderly residents. From what we have experienced here, my wife and I heartily recommend this home to anyone looking for a loving home for an elderly relative or friend.

An absolute gem of a care home! I feel very happy in the knowledge that my sister is happy and well cared for. The home itself is spotlessly clean, very family-orientated and the staff are wonderful, I can’t rate them high enough. We were very lucky to get in here.
Thank you all.

My mother has been a resident at Penmeneth House for just over two years and in that time the staff have seen mum through some very difficult health issues. They have been unfailingly professional and kind, dealing with not just her physical health but also her mental and emotional needs. Due to their
care and commitment, Mum made a full recovery from what seemed to be a devastating cerebral vascular accident. My mother loves living there and talks highly of the staff. The food is excellent and there always seems to be activities for the residents to do.
We are living in difficult times and I feel I could not have asked for better care for my mother.

My mother has been so happy and healthy since becoming a resident at Penmeneth House. Her health and weight has got so much better and the staff have been second to none. Especially over the COVID-19 lockdown, going above and beyond for the safety and care of extremely fragile residents. Clean, friendly
and 5* care I couldn't recommend them more highly.

Management are easy to approach, helpful and obviously care about resident's welfare.

Current Review Score: 9.3 (9.307)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.3 (9.307) out of 10 for Penmeneth House is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 4.8 out of 5 from 5 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 4.5 out of 5 from 5 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.807 for Penmeneth House is calculated as follows: ( (46 Excellents x 5) + (11 Goods x 4) ) ÷ 57 Ratings = 4.807
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 4.5 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Penmeneth House is based on 5 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 20 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews, 0.05 Points for the next five Positive Reviews, and finally 0.025 Points for the next ten Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.050, 7th = 0.050, 8th = 0.050, 9th = 0.050, 10th = 0.050, 11th = 0.025, 12th = 0.025, 13th = 0.025, 14th = 0.025, 15th = 0.025, 16th = 0.025, 17th = 0.025, 18th = 0.025, 19th = 0.025, 20th = 0.025) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 = 3.5
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 15 registered maximum number of service users is 3, which has been reached with 5 Positive reviews. Points = 1
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
