As a senior carer in a home myself, i had to come in open minded to the fact that it was my family member who needed to be in a care home to be looked after. Since the new management took over, i can not fault the improvement of the facilities of the home, the warmness and friendliness you receive from
staff when coming to visit my family member, so thank you to you all such a hard working team! The food on our last visit has massively improved from quality to presentation! The care is brilliant when we need something the staff are always seem to be there to help. My family member who is in the care of this home always seems quite happy and content whilst being here! Any concerns or recommendations i feel he needs we express to the manager who is very efficient and deals with these promptly! So thank you to all staff and management of alban house

Mum loves it here, she feels at home and regularly tells me how lovely all the staff are.
Since the new management, cleanliness has improved tremendously and the occupational lady is very much appreciated. Overall, very happy with how Mum has settled in.

My Mum was admitted in Nov 25 as my Father and I weren't able to cope she initially had 3 wks Respite and stayed.
Alban House have been welcoming and open in all aspects of Mums care and kept us up to date with any changes. I also feel extremely guilty not seeing her everyday but Alban House have
supported My Dad and I through all this.
Mum is safe and well cared for in a caring environment we couldn't ask for more

Mum always says 'everyone is so kind' normally every time I visit. Since her arrival at Alban house approx 18 months ago she is happy and well looked after, which gives the family total peace of mind. The staff are friendly, caring and approachable.

On one of my visits in December mum was in her

room knitting with the activities lady. This was so lovely to see as mum had always been a keen knitter and taught my sister and I when we were young. Nowadays this isn't something mum would do but with encouragement from the activities lady she was knitting away and chatting. A one to one session like this is just what mum needs from time to time.

Having recently visited to see my father - I feel very comfortable and confident that he is with excellent carers and with those that care about his needs and wellbeing. It's a difficult time of year when loved ones can't be together - I know his needs are being met, that his welfare is adhered to,
and all in all, peace of mind is given to us, his family. Many thanks to all.

My wife is quite happy in the home. Her only complaint is that she has no one to talk as most residents are in various stages of dementia whereas she can converse with most people. She is reasonably happy on her own.

Alban House is a friendly home. The staff and owners really care for my father. I would recommend them without a doubt. My father was in a home prior to this one and I wish I found this one first. They do so many activities which Alzheimer's patients need. Keep up the amazing work to all at Alban House
and thank you so much.

The thing that strikes you about Alban House is how happy and inviting the staff are, hartley engage and relate to the residents. with respect, enthusiasm, patience and genuine warmth. There are much humour and laughter within the home and everyone's needs are catered for to the best of the homes sources
and abilities. You are encouraged to visit family members whenever and as frequently as you desire, day or night. It is a very open and relaxed home with residents enjoying the company of staff members pets, who frequently spend time in the home. The managers/owners do an amazing job of welcoming new residents and supporting their families with the painful transition of moving a loved one into care. The home itself is beautifully appointed at the top of the hill with far reaching views out over the sea.

My cousin continues to be happy at Alban House. They know their residents so well and know exactly how to deal with each one. As I said last year I don't know how he would have managed without their care and understanding. He can be quite an up and down personality but they can quickly turn him around.

Cannot recommend 'Alban House' highly enough. The care of my wife over the last 5 years has been extremely high. All the carers and management at the home really do go the extra mile in ensuring that all their residents are treated with dignity and respect. They also do individual care and activities
dependent on the resident's needs and personality. 'Alban House' is very much home from home. Thank you so much to you all.

Alban House is an incredible place. It has such a happy family atmosphere. The staff are so patient, kind and caring. Each resident is valued and treated with kindness and respect, even the difficult ones!! The care given to my father who has severe dementia has been amazing. We just can't thank the
staff and owners enough for all that they do.

I think the food is very good. Everything I need doing is done. Including looking after my pet tortoise who lives here with me as we are a pair. The staff are very nice - all regardless of age. From the owner who is specially kind, good and knowledgeable. Everyone is very helpful.

Current Review Score: 8.7 (8.700)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 8.7 (8.700) out of 10 for Alban House is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 4.5 out of 5 from 4 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 4.2 out of 5 from 4 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.455 for Alban House is calculated as follows: ( (21 Excellents x 5) + (22 Goods x 4) + (1 Satisfactorys x 3) ) ÷ 44 Ratings = 4.455
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 4.245 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Alban House is based on 4 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 20 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews, 0.05 Points for the next five Positive Reviews, and finally 0.025 Points for the next ten Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.050, 7th = 0.050, 8th = 0.050, 9th = 0.050, 10th = 0.050, 11th = 0.025, 12th = 0.025, 13th = 0.025, 14th = 0.025, 15th = 0.025, 16th = 0.025, 17th = 0.025, 18th = 0.025, 19th = 0.025, 20th = 0.025) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 = 3.375
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 23 registered maximum number of service users is 4.6. 4 Positive Reviews ÷ 4.6 = 0.87
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
