I am very impressed by the staff friendliness and the fact that they can't do enough for the residents to ensure they are happy and looked after really well.
The residents all seem happy and chat to us when we visit.
The home is always clean and has a lovely smell of cooking when we visit in the morning.
My father-in-law cannot praise the food enough and he has a large appetite so he must be happy.
He enjoys joining in activities that he likes and also sitting out in the garden on nice days.
Whenever we turn up, my father-in-law always looks clean and tidy and shaved which means so much.
We have always been told to turn up whenever we want to and it is always the same.
I would happily recommend this home to anyone. We are all very happy with it and say it is like home from home.

My father moved from another care home to this one in December 2018. The staff here were instantly friendly and helpful. We were given lots of information about the home and told to ask if we had any problems. Nothing is ever too much trouble for the staff and I would say they actually go above and
beyond what is normally expected.
My father says he loves the food and he cannot praise the staff highly enough for everything they do for him. He is happy with his room and in fact, got offered another one and said he was more than happy where he was as he loves the view.
He also says it is very peaceful here and he is allowed to make all of his own choices which means a lot to him. His happiness is what matters and he is very happy. I am at ease knowing that he is being so well cared for.
I would highly recommend this home to my friends.

The Homestead cared for my neighbour up until June of this year. There wasn't anything that was too much trouble and she had everything she needed and was happy and looked after. It's a quiet stunning setting and my friend was very happy to spend her time there.
I was made to feel welcome and looked
forward to my visits, the staff were always friendly and looked after me as well.

My mother stayed at the Homestead for just over a fortnight's respite care. The home was pleasant, thoughtfully laid out with two sitting rooms and a spacious dining area. My mother was allocated a light, bright ground floor room overlooking the garden, with an en suite wet room. The staff were friendly
and cheerful. My mother was given the rest and care she needed and was able to return home. She expressed regret about missing the lovely cooked breakfasts she had enjoyed there.

I was very upset at my husband going into a home with dementia, but the care he is getting is more than I could wish for, he is very happy there, which was the main thing. For me, the staff and manager are very kind and look after him well. I could not ask for more and they are kind to me too.

My mother lived on her own for years getting more and more depressed and seeing no-one other than the gardener once a week. Since she moved to The Homestead she has perked up a lot and I consider the staff are the key to this place have a homely feel. All considered I would recommend it 100%.

My father spent over 6 years at The Homestead. During this time, he received excellent care and attention and nothing was too much trouble. The staff treated him with great dignity and affection and he was very happy there. His room was first rate and he loved the views from the window. There were also
plenty of activities to help occupy him and he was able to go for walks as Elwyn Road is quiet and flat. All in all, a very fine care home that is highly recommended.

Having looked at 20+ online establishments this was one of only 5 we eventually looked at. Having a very creditable CQC score. Our first visit and impressions were excellent. The staff being cheerful, helpful, compassionate and informative. The residents being treated with dignity and respect. Whilst
not the nearest establishment to us, this was the place that my wife and I felt would give my mother her last few months/years in a place she could still call home.

Current Review Score: 9.9 (9.895)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.9 (9.895) out of 10 for The Homestead is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 5.0 out of 5 from 17 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 4.9 out of 5 from 17 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.970 for The Homestead is calculated as follows: ( (198 Excellents x 5) + (4 Goods x 4) + (1 Satisfactorys x 3) ) ÷ 203 Ratings = 4.97
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 4.925 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for The Homestead is based on 17 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 20 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews, 0.05 Points for the next five Positive Reviews, and finally 0.025 Points for the next ten Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.050, 7th = 0.050, 8th = 0.050, 9th = 0.050, 10th = 0.050, 11th = 0.025, 12th = 0.025, 13th = 0.025, 14th = 0.025, 15th = 0.025, 16th = 0.025, 17th = 0.025, 18th = 0.025, 19th = 0.025, 20th = 0.025) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 = 3.925
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 24 registered maximum number of service users is 4.8, which has been reached with 17 Positive reviews. Points = 1
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
