Doneraile Residential Care Home

Overall Experience 5.0 out of 5
My mum went to Doneraile for emergancy restbite and has now become a permanent resident. As it was an emergancy we hadn't viewed before hand but it was meant to be.
There is a VERY welcoming, happy, lively and inclusive atmosphere, and it's like a little community. The staff are so caring, friendly,
tactile when needed, full of fun and life and they all have a fantastic sense of humor, which the residents respond to.
Doneraile is not a 'god's waiting room' type of care home, everyone is loved, cared for and treated with respect and there is so much fun and laughter.
My mum has dementia and at first she was really quiet, wanting to be on her own but now she has lots of friends that she chats and laughs with and joins in with the activities, l would say that she is starting to thrive and l don't think that she would be if she wasn't in THIS care home.
Reply from Claire McMahon McMahon, Area Manager at Doneraile Residential Care HomeThank you so much for taking the time to share such a lovely review. We are delighted that your mum has found a happy and supportive home at Doneraile. It means so much to hear that she has gone from wanting to be on her own to building friendships, enjoying activities and beginning to thrive.

Creating a warm, lively and inclusive community where residents are treated with love, dignity and respect is exactly what we strive for, and your kind words about our team and the atmosphere within the home are truly appreciated. We are privileged to be part of your mum's journey and are grateful for the trust you have placed in us.

Thank you again for your wonderful feedback and for allowing us to care for your mum. Seeing her happiness and hearing that Doneraile feels like the place she was meant to be means the world to us.

Mum has alzheimer's and can be a very difficult woman but I can't praise the staff and Doneraile enough. The are highly professional and very caring. The house is spotless and even Mum has said that she enjoys living there. Communication from Doneraile has been excellent especially when Mum has felt
under the weather.
I visited many homes before deciding on Doneraile, it stood out as being the best fit for Mum and so far it has exceeded expectations.

My dear sister passed away at St Benet's on 11 May. It was all very peaceful. She enjoyed her lunch and then was sitting in the lounge having her usual nap but this time she didn't wake up again. She had been suffering from Alzheimer's for just over six years, her last year at St Benet's. I could not
fault the care she had at the home. The staff are all very kind and caring, and I knew my sister was being well looked after. . Her passing was dealt with in a very dignified way and I would like to thank Michelle, the manager, for her kindness to me at this sad time.
Reply from Claire McMahon McMahon, Area Manager at St Benet's CourtThank you for taking the time to share such kind words at what we know is a very difficult time. We are deeply sorry for the loss of your dear sister and send our sincere condolences to you and your family.

We are honoured to have been part of her journey and are grateful that you felt reassured knowing she was well looked after during her time at St Benet's.

Your appreciation for the team, and especially for Michelle, means a great deal and will be shared with them. Supporting families through such emotional times is a privilege, and we are pleased that we were able to provide comfort and kindness when it was needed most.

Thank you again for your thoughtful words and for entrusting us with your sister's care. She will be remembered with great fondness by all who knew her.

My father became a resident after a long stay in hospital, and it became unsafe for him to return home. My father received the very best of care and support for his medical needs, as a family we were always welcomed and supported with compassion, invited to join all the wonderful events and activities

Mother in law has lived at Alphington Lodge for 12 years, is very happy there, enjoys living there & is a bit of a matriarch of the home after being there so long. We visit other care homes visiting relatives & older friends & whenever we leave anywhere else after visiting we appreciate even more the
very high standards on every level for everything at Alphington Lodge . We are so glad she has a home that is so clean, never smells, has outstanding caring staff who are by far the home's greatest asset & who just display such care, dignity & so much else to all the residents. Even if someone is doing the laundry or cleaning they will stop to chat to a resident as they pass by. The food is all home cooked, varied, plentiful & there are so many nice touches that appear to keep the food interesting & varied. This week one afternoon they had icecreams, cake & iced coffee mid afternoon as it was so hot. Martine and Harry are both great, so approachable & do a great job & lead a great team.
Reply from Claire McMahon McMahon, Area Manager at Alphington LodgeThank you for your wonderful feedback and for entrusting Alphington Lodge with your mother-in-law's care over the past 12 years. Your kind words about the cleanliness of the home, the quality of the food and, most importantly, our caring team mean so much to us. We believe that every interaction matters, and it is lovely to hear that the warmth, dignity and compassion shown by all our staff make such a difference.

We are especially grateful for your recognition of Martine, Harry and the whole team. Creating a welcoming home with thoughtful touches and high standards is something we are very proud of. Thank you again for your continued support and for sharing your experience.

My wife has now been at Wolborough Court for four weeks and both she and us, the family, have found it to be an excellent choice. The staff have shown an amazing level of kindness, patience, professionalism and good humour, a good team. Excellent food comes from a varied menu with good portions and
is eaten in a pleasant dining room. Teas, coffees and cake seem to be readily available at all times, even for visiting family!
All rooms throughout are kept nicely decorated and my wife's in particular is a good size with en suite and views out to surrounding Hills. This is our Family's first experience of a care home and we feel it gives my wife a light, airy, pleasant and safe environment in which she is well cared for.

Our relative sadly died a month ago at St Benets. During her brief stay(5-6 weeks) she received outstanding care by caring competent staff who on all occasions went above and beyond the call of duty to ensure our relative and ourselves got the best of care and support. Sadly Frances passed away in
my presence but we were comforted by the fact she had been given loving outstanding care in her final weeks of life. We witnessed this on a daily basis. As this was not our first experience of Frances and nursing homes I can say with authority St Benets is the best care Frances and we received. Good leadership, effective communication, personal care, residents at the centre of care. All in all outstanding care home. Well done Michelle, Lisa and staff.

My Mum has been at Bishopsteignton House for 6 months & the care has been amazing. Donna, Amy & the staff are wonderful. Mum feels safe & cared for. She has severe aphasia & they take the time to listen to her and understand her. I would highly recommend Bishopsteignton House for anbody's loved one
