Southlands Residential Care Home

My mum spent her last two and half years at Southlands and received the most wonderful care. She was becoming ill and immobile when she had to go into care and her health was declining rapidly. The staff were amazing and incredibly caring, always kept the family informed, and we were so lucky to find
Southlands. Mum became bedbound in the last months of her life and needed intensive nursing for several months before she died. The staff were incredible. I cannot speak highly enough of both the staff and the home in general and thank them with all my heart for making Mums last days as comfortable as possible.

My Mother lived at Southlands for 3 Years. It is the nicest care home I have ever visited.
The home is really friendly and the residents rooms are homely, they can have their own possesions around them.
The staff go above and beyond, they really care about the residents and I always felt that my
Mum was loved
by the way the staff spoke to her and spent time with her. I never had any worries about the care that she was recieving. There are always activities organised for the residents who want to join in. Visitors are made to feel welcome and can visit at most times of the day.
I am very grateful for the care that my Mum recieved. Thank you Southlands.

My Mother was in Southlands for over 2 and a half years. All the carers loved her. Nothing is too much trouble for them and they really care about the residents. They look after the residents so well. The carers are all so lovely that they became friends.
The home is always so clean, fresh, bright
and airy. It has lovely bedrooms, a big bright conservatory to have their many activities in, a spacious dining room and a lovely cosy lounge to watch TV in, or just socialise. They also have a beautiful garden and a lovely decking area for sitting out in the sun.
I never joined them for lunch but the food always looked amazing and smelled divine.
Sadly my Mother passed away not long ago and we will miss her terribly but we will also miss all the staff at Southlands very much too, and I want to thank them all for caring for Mum so well. I can't praise them enough.

My sister came to St Benet's from another care home in July this year. From the outset she was treated with kindness and respect. She settled in at the home very quickly and her care needs were monitored immediately including a review of her medication from her new GP. . My sister has advanced dementia
but she is still treated as one of the family, being included in many activities on her own terms . She has also spent some time in the garden enjoying the fresh air. I cannot speak highly enough about the care my sister is receiving . It's lovely to see her smiling again.

Our mum received excellent personalised care over 18 month period , despite the challenges she presented with behaviour relating to Alzheimer's Disease . She was afforded privacy and treated with dignity, including at the end of her life. Nursing care was responsive when her needs changed suddenly
and communication was good, especially when she started to deteriorate. Thank you St Benets.

My mum moved to St Benets in August of this year when she could no longer be safe at home my mum is recovering from a hip fracture and she has mixed dementia, I would just like to say on behalf of myself my brother and the entire family how pleased we are that we moved her to this care home she has
been shown great respect and dignity and nothing seems to be too much trouble for the carers that work there. Mum now seems to have settled in nicely, we are relived that she is now safe and content with her surroundings, thanks again to Michelle, Lisa and the entire team for all you do.

Our mother moved to St Benet's from another care home locally as we believed that she would benefit from a smaller, more hands on approach to care. She is not one for joining in with activities but is happy to observe at least and we were keen for her not to withdraw and be ignored. St Benet's staff
are all, without question, the most attentive and caring staff we have encountered. The enthusiasm for their roles is clearly delivered from the top, with superb leadership. There is always someone on hand to talk to and get updates from with regards to how our mother is doing and being far away, this is incredibly important to us. In a very sad and complicated situation, we are incredibly grateful for the care and support of the home in making our mother's end of life care as comfortable as it could be. Thank you

Mum has been going to Greycliffe for respite since New Year of 2025. She tends to go in for a week at a time and while at first, she was reluctant, now she goes straight into the lounge to see what's going on and leaves me to unpack her belongings etc. She is always telling me how lovely the staff
are to her, and how much she loves the food. I witness for myself that everyone is very engaged with the residents and very quick to help if they need anything....from a cup of tea, or trip to the toilet, or any other questions. The manager and and the entire team are always very welcoming and I feel very relaxed about leaving mum in their care as I take a break.

Overall Experience 5.0 out of 5
The care and support which the team at Greycliffe provided to my aunt, and to all our family, during a difficult time was exceptional. We were able to visit at any time and were always met with a friendly face and a kind word. We were kept up to date with all that we needed to know, and given all the
time to talk through how my aunt's needs were being met, and how she was doing. As things progressed, everyone was so generous of their time and found ways of letting us know little things which helped us prepare for the end.
The building itself is very light and airy and the views into the landscaped gardens were lovely. I always found it to be clean and bright; the atmosphere was welcoming and homely. The team engage the residents with physical activities and mental challenges, as well as having visits from a therapy dog, cooking, and having 'country days'- e.g. Italy with a special menu and suitable bunting etc.
Highly recommended for wonderful care, kindness and personal approach.

The care home has looked after my mother exceptionally well since October 2023. The staff are friendly, respectful and go out of their way to engage with my mum and our family. There is a varied and healthy meal provision, which mum enjoys. The team is well led by the home manager, who is always visible,
approachable and so engaged with everyone . The home is always clean and tidy. Mum enjoys the various activities that are provided each week, supervised by a fantastic "enabler", where mum is encouraged to participate.

Mum came to stay at St Benets following a long period of hospital treatment. It was no longer safe for her to live at home. From the outset Mum was treated with dignity and respect and as one of the 'family'. Mum had vascular dementia and many other chronic health conditions. She was given an 'MOT'
by her new GP including her meds. Health conditions and weight were monitored and I was kept up to date with her care plan.Visiting hairdresser and podiatrist were immediately booked. The home cooked meals from scratch were a great improvement for Mum who was kept well supplied with coffee and home made cake too. Mum was not too keen on joining in, she was encouraged to do so but on her own terms. Going out in the garden, fresh air, the birds were lovely. The inclusion of the private FB group was fantastic as we live far away. I can't speak highly enough of the staff at St Benets, nothing was too much trouble. The care and kindness shown to Mum and to us has been exemplary. Thanks x
