Now, mum has been at Somerforde for 7 years. She always seems very happy. In that time we have seen a few changes. At the moment there are a lot of changes for the better. Somerforde is now greatly improved on all aspects as well as the modernisation and redecoration of the home. Very welcoming and
lovely caring staff and management.

Somerforde is a reasonable care home that seems to care for its residents in the best way. Communication sometimes is not easy to achieve but the manager and team seek to do the best they can. My mum's room needs some updating and maintenance which seems to take a while to get done, but generally, the
home is satisfactory.

Overall, very good. My father is treated with care and respect. His health needs are met with dignity and as he is getting more illnesses, nothing is left to chance. He has had his medical needs addressed as soon as there is a problem.

I am thrilled that we found this place for Mum. It stands head and shoulders above many I have seen. The staff are welcoming and caring and the management dedicated, open and approachable. Well maintained and nicely furnished, the home has the ambience of a boutique hotel. Parkland views are a bonus.
Had Mum visited Somerforde earlier, she might not have struggled to stay in her own home for as long as she did.

I came to this residential home just as the new owner was about to purchase the home (this was 2 years ago). Upon my visit now this place has had a major turnaround for the better. Starting with the owner, he has invested a lot of time and money. The staff are very professional. I have found the manager
very helpful and really care about the residents. They are all so obliging and I am happy that my mother is there.

A beautiful home with very pleasant staff. My brother-in-law came on in leaps and bounds after breaking a hip. He was very well looked after and loved his stay in Somerforde and I think he was sorry to go home. Excellent care across the board. Thank you to all concerned.

I did appreciate your kindness

and dedication in getting him up and walking. At one point it seemed impossible for him to do anything, but you managed it. Thank you again.

Having visited this care home some four times a week, over the past six years, to visit my 102-year-old mum I feel that I know what goes on in this establishment.
Without any doubt, the care and compassion shown by the staff, to me and my mother is second to none. Her meals have been consistently
to a high standard, and her room is kept clean and tidy whenever I have visited.
Sadly, my mum is no longer able to engage in the afternoon activities, which she enjoyed when she could. Her lovely room which looks out over the beautiful Ford Park is now her garden. I have no hesitation in recommending Somerforde should you need or know someone who needs to be looked after.
Thank you to you all.

Current Review Score: 9.8 (9.831)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.8 (9.831) out of 10 for Somerforde is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 4.9 out of 5 from 9 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 4.9 out of 5 from 9 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.931 for Somerforde is calculated as follows: ( (95 Excellents x 5) + (7 Goods x 4) ) ÷ 102 Ratings = 4.931
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 4.9 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Somerforde is based on 9 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 10 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, and then 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews and then 0.1 Points for the next five Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.100, 7th = 0.100, 8th = 0.100, 9th = 0.100, 10th = 0.100) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.1 + 0.1 + 0.1 + 0.1 = 3.9
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 32 registered maximum number of service users is 6.4, which has been reached with 9 Positive reviews. Points = 1
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
