We are so pleased we selected Tracey House as our Dad's home. He is well cared for by kind, caring staff that helped Dad to make the huge leap from living on his own to settling better than we could ever have imagined in a community setting. The home is beautifully kept with stunning gardens which are hugely important for Dad who loves watching the birds, wildlife and plants from his bedroom window and the lovely communal lounges. The home organises a variety of activities from games, sing-alongs, walks in the garden, resident chats and family events. We never thought Dad would join in as well as he has - his social interaction with other residents and staff and overall engagement is lovely to see. Communication from staff is excellent, open, honest and much valued. The only thing Dad says needs improvement is the food, although he really appreciates the care and effort made to meet his individual dietary requirements. We would highly recommend Tracey House - it is a beautiful home.
Thank you for your lovely feedback, It's so great to see your dad enjoying living at Tracey House so much. He is a great member of the community here. Thank You.
From our first meeting with Yvette and Steph they have always meet mum's needs and the care team overall really know mum as a person and help to make sure she makes the most of what's on offer.
Mum has been able to have access to hairdresser, chiropodist, dentist and doctor all the time.
As a family we would recommend Tracey House unreservedly. We are very grateful for everything.
We do have a lot of fun at Tracey House, so it is great that your mum feels it too and is part of it. Thank you again.
Tracey House is lovely and feels like a 'home from home' and is set in beautiful grounds. The communal and residents rooms are comfortable and welcoming. It's a joy to visit mum there.
The staff are welcoming, friendly and efficient. Mum says they're lovely and it's so nice to know that there's always someone there if she needs them. Especially during the night.
I would highly recommend Tracey House.
Thank you for your kind review and recommendation. We really appreciate it.
We chose Tracey House for our mum when her home became too challenging. From the moment we walked in on our initial visit we could feel it's comfort , warmth and homely style which made mum feel immediately at ease. Mum initially visited on a respite basis for three weeks but after a few days she decided that she was staying put! She loved it there as it felt very much like home to her. The standard of care she has received has been second to none, nothing is too much trouble for Yvette and her team. The food is varied and delicious, relatives and friends can eat there too. The carers who work at Tracey House are amazing , they really care for the residents wellbeing at all times. A special mention to the events coordinator Bex. Her extensive activities schedule is fabulous and caters for all interests and needs. They even have a house dog, Minnie ,who helps out in exchange for cuddles. An excellent place which we highly recommend.
Thank you for your lovely comments, and I will certainly pass on your special mention to our activities coordinator - thank you!
Dad knew of the home and therfore was happy with the decision for him to become a resident.
The team are wonderful and caring not just to the residents but to their families and friends.
Nothing is too much for the team and are willing to listen and change if needed.
They are open and transparent, and are sensitive to each residents needs.
The residents are encouraged to take part in interesting and fun activities to keep them active both physically and mentally.
The team are quick to inform us of any changes with our father's health through a private family instant message.
I feel Dad is in the best place for his needs with a wonderfully kind and caring team that have quickly become friends.
I feel so fortunate to have been in the right place at the right time for Dad when Tracey House reopened.
Thank you for your review, it's been lovely to be able to provide a local home for your father, and i know his connections here span back many years so it is extra special.
My mum has now been at Tracey house for nearly 6 months. The experience for her has been fantastic. She settled in so well due to the lovely staff beautiful surroundings and great activities provided. She has a beautiful room with a view and really comfy bed as my mum says. Very clean homely place. Highly recommend.
Thank you for your lovely review. It's great to hear that she is so happy with us.
My mother has been a resident of Tracey House since it reopened in January 2026. She is happy and well looked after. The staff are wonderful. They are kind, patient and thoughtful. There are plenty of activities but participation is voluntary. Residents are able to relax in their rooms instead if they wish. My mum was reluctant to go into a residential home but now tells me she is pleased that she did and that she is content. She has a lovely double room with patio doors onto the attractive, large gardens. We have been able to bring in furniture and ornaments to make her feel at home. Staff regularly communicate with me and I know that she is safe and well looked after. It feels like a home not an institution.
Thank you Susan, We're so glad that she is happy with her decision to come to Tracey House. Her room is a lovely reflection of her life adventures. Thank you for your kind review.
We were incredibly worried about how she would settle and how her various needs and routines would be managed as she has been very set in her ways for many years.
The whole staff team are really lovely. Without exception they have been very caring, welcoming and patient. They have spent plenty of time understanding Mum and her needs, and providing plenty of reassurance and encouragement.
The home is well led and a very positive , caring , relaxed but professional ethos is evident in all TH staff .
Communication with is as her closest family members has been frequent and clear.
In addition, the house and grounds are really beautiful and well maintained. Standards of cleanliness san catering are high.
We are delighted that Mum has found such a fantastic residential home for the next phase of her life!
Thank you so much for your trust, and thank you for your lovely review.
My dad was a shell of himself in Feb but due to the kindness and professionalism of all the staff and management and the kindness and welcome of the residents I have my old dad back.
It is such a pleasure to have your dad at Tracey House, he brings a lot of joy and laughter to the home and he is a really valued part of the community here. We are thrilled to hear that he is so happy here, Thank you!
We feel so fortunate to have found a room here for our Mum. The location, facilities, food etc are excellent. However it's the people that make it exceptional. They've really helped Mum settle & very quickly feel at home. She doesn't cope well with change, but she's already happier & safer thanks to the care she's receiving. Nothing is too much trouble & the communications with the rest of the family has really helped us play our part. I think Mum's health will also improve because she's eating better, finding it easier to accept help & to listen to good advice.
Mum is enjoying her food and also the activities which are being arranged and organised with attention to what people enjoy. Mum is getting on well with the other residents. Mum also particularly enjoys visits from dogs belonging to members of staff!
We are always given a warm welcome when we visit. When friends visited her recently, we were welcomed and enjoyed sitting together in the sun lounge, which has lovely views onto open fields and across the valley.

We have good communication with the manager, who contacts us if she has any concerns or questions about Mum's care needs and wellbeing.
Minnie the dog has certainly been a highlight for her, which is fantastic, as has the sherry in the drawing room in the evening. I think this is becoming a lovely tradition with some of the other residents as well.
My mother has been a resident in Tracey House since September 2020. She eventually died at Tracey House on 8th September 2021. Throughout her stay, she was treated with dignity, respect and consideration and was extremely well cared for. My mother spoke very highly of the home and the staff. For the past several weeks prior to her death, she was receiving palliative care. How she was treated during this period was exemplary and a great comfort to the family. The compassion she was shown was wonderful.
Exemplary care and a warm, friendly environment. At Tracey House, I feel the care extends through the whole home, including the grounds and the staff, not just the residents. The residents benefit from this, as if the staff are happy, they will be better able to care for them.
When independent living became a bit of a struggle, my mother moved into Tracey House and lived there for almost four years. With friendly and attentive staff, a clean and homely environment and a beautiful garden, Tracey House has never disappointed. I cannot speak highly enough of the care and attention delivered by the Tracey House team, from the most junior to the most senior and across all skill sets. So many of the staff went the extra mile to make her life as comfortable and interesting as possible and they always treated her with respect as an individual. I was regularly consulted on decisions regarding her care and it was a huge relief for me to know that she was safe and well looked after. I was also reassured by how Tracey House called on external medical practitioners to ensure she received the best possible treatment for any medical needs. My mother passed away peacefully at Tracey House and I’m thankful she was kept comfortable with kind and tender care right to the end.
My aunt has recently moved into Tracey House for a months trial. I cannot believe the change in her in a short space of time. She is so much happier with the company, care and support around her. The food is excellent, and she is eating regular meals again, which is such a comfort to us, her family knowing she is safe and well. Thank goodness we were able to move her to Tracey House!
My mother went to Tracey House for respite care in June 2021. Because of the warm welcome, she settled immediately. When it became clear that her fragility would not enable her to return home, we knew she could not be in better hands. She received affection and attention from all staff, and the carers always took time to talk to her about her family and her life. Any concerns were passed swiftly to the local surgery. I was able to be with her each day, and until the end, spent many hours talking of our life together and making her smile. She passed away in August, calm and comfortable.
Tracey House is a lovely home set in beautiful grounds close to Dartmoor. The staff are very friendly and helpful and there is always a warm welcome. My mother lived there for the last three years of her life. She was dubious at first but within a week she had been won over. She particularly liked the activities held in the sun lounge, a light and warm room overlooking the back gardens. At dinner, she told me she was at the top table with a major and a wartime spy. All true except the top table bit. She enjoyed the food and told me that now and again the residents were asked if they had any requests. Her choice of steak and kidney pudding duly appeared on the menu one day. Her room was small but had a wonderful view across to Newton Abbot so even when a bigger one became available she refused to move. Sadly she died in the home just before Christmas. Everyone was wonderful and she had the most peaceful passing you could imagine. I can't speak too highly of this care home.
My father lived here for over six years. From the day he arrived to the day he died, he received a professional and truly caring approach from all the staff. His mental, emotional and physical needs were all considered and catered for, adjustments made as his needs changed. He enjoyed the meals, activities and entertainments offered. He made suggestions - there are always opportunities for this. Appropriate outside help was brought in as needed. There was excellent communication between the home and family. We felt the owners, manager and all the staff became an extension of our family. I received support when distressed. I would be happy to be a resident.
Tracey House provides genuine care which treats people as individuals. Staff always appeared sensitive to my father's needs which varied over a six-year period. At first, he was encouraged to engage in activities which ranged from using his own woodcarving equipment to going out on local trips. Much later staff would take him into the garden in a wheelchair. He was treated with appropriate tenderness and respect when ill and subsequently at end of life. Staff also engaged with family in a supportive manner which was much appreciated.
Food is excellent.
Lovely garden to walk around in.
I would like more activities such as singing, discussions and more trips out if possible.
