My dad has been here for one year now. He is happy, clean and well cared for by all of the team here at highgrove. I also am made very welcome on my visits, along with my little dog, who the residents adore. The staff all seem happy and work lovely together. It's lovely not just for my dad and myself
to hear laughter but it's good for everyone. Makes for a good environment.

I want to thank everyone at Highgrove, Stapehill for looking after my mum, Mary, during the last year of her life. The quality of care she received was exceptional and beyond our expectations. The individual attention she received enabled her to build friendships which were valuable in keeping her happy
with a sense of 'belonging'. Highgrove became her home and the team became her family. Many of the team impressed me with their ability and willingness to engage with Mary and make her feel special. A special thank you goes to the team members directly involved during her last few days, rescuing her from hospital when her health failed despite the doctors strike and their reluctance to move her, her carers were determined not to take no for an answer and got her home. At the end the Highgrove team were so compassionate giving me the support I needed and memories of peace and tranquility that will always remain.
Reply from Caroline Bleach, Director at Highgrove Care HomeThank you so much for taking the time to share such a moving and heartfelt review. It truly means a great deal to everyone at Highgrove, Stapehill.
We are deeply honoured that your mum, Mary, was part of our Highgrove family during the last year of her life. Your words about the care she received, the friendships she formed, and the sense of belonging she felt are incredibly meaningful to us. Creating a true home where residents feel valued, connected, and cared for as individuals is at the heart of what we strive to do.
Your special mention of the team's determination to bring Mary back home, and the compassion shown to both her and you during her final days, will be shared with the staff involved. They will be profoundly touched to know that their commitment and support provided you with comfort, peace, and lasting memories at such a difficult time.

All the staff are very friendly and helpful. A lovely environment for residents and staff. The activities board has a good variety of things to do. My husband has a good communication with the staff and is happy when he sees them.

My nan stayed at Highgrove Care Home a couple of times for a couple of weeks' rest bite. She is very food-fussy and nothing was too much trouble for the chefs. The staff was great and she made some great bonds with them. We were allowed to visit as many times as we liked, any time of day.
Highly recommend.

My lovely grandad was at this care home in his final days and the care he was provided was excellent, I sadly was not able to visit often but was kept informed swiftly and could see pictures of him and could tell that he was well cared for. Thank you everyone for everything you have done to make his
last day's so comfortable.
Reply from Caroline Bleach, Director at Highgrove Care HomeWe wish to thank you for your kind words and extend our sympathies to you and your family. We got to know your grandad quite well and he was a huge character in Highgrove Care Home, he will be sadly missed by all of us.

Current Review Score: 9.1 (9.131)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.1 (9.131) out of 10 for Highgrove Care Home is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 4.8 out of 5 from 4 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 4.3 out of 5 from 4 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.804 for Highgrove Care Home is calculated as follows: ( (38 Excellents x 5) + (7 Goods x 4) + (1 Satisfactorys x 3) ) ÷ 46 Ratings = 4.804
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 4.327 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Highgrove Care Home is based on 4 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 20 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews, 0.05 Points for the next five Positive Reviews, and finally 0.025 Points for the next ten Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.050, 7th = 0.050, 8th = 0.050, 9th = 0.050, 10th = 0.050, 11th = 0.025, 12th = 0.025, 13th = 0.025, 14th = 0.025, 15th = 0.025, 16th = 0.025, 17th = 0.025, 18th = 0.025, 19th = 0.025, 20th = 0.025) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 = 3.375
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 21 registered maximum number of service users is 4.2. 4 Positive Reviews ÷ 4.2 = 0.952
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
