My wife has been at Donewood for about 12 months and the feelings about the place when visited before she was admitted have been born out. In the whole of her time in residence - warmth caring and friendly and homely. All staff members go above and beyond to make the experience of living here as natural
as possible. As a regular visitor I have been made to feel like part if the community and treated with the same care given to the residents.

My dad has been here for one year now. He is happy, clean and well cared for by all of the team here at highgrove. I also am made very welcome on my visits, along with my little dog, who the residents adore. The staff all seem happy and work lovely together. It's lovely not just for my dad and myself
to hear laughter but it's good for everyone. Makes for a good environment.

I want to thank everyone at Highgrove, Stapehill for looking after my mum, Mary, during the last year of her life. The quality of care she received was exceptional and beyond our expectations. The individual attention she received enabled her to build friendships which were valuable in keeping her happy
with a sense of 'belonging'. Highgrove became her home and the team became her family. Many of the team impressed me with their ability and willingness to engage with Mary and make her feel special. A special thank you goes to the team members directly involved during her last few days, rescuing her from hospital when her health failed despite the doctors strike and their reluctance to move her, her carers were determined not to take no for an answer and got her home. At the end the Highgrove team were so compassionate giving me the support I needed and memories of peace and tranquility that will always remain.
Reply from Caroline Bleach, Director at Highgrove Care HomeThank you so much for taking the time to share such a moving and heartfelt review. It truly means a great deal to everyone at Highgrove, Stapehill.
We are deeply honoured that your mum, Mary, was part of our Highgrove family during the last year of her life. Your words about the care she received, the friendships she formed, and the sense of belonging she felt are incredibly meaningful to us. Creating a true home where residents feel valued, connected, and cared for as individuals is at the heart of what we strive to do.
Your special mention of the team's determination to bring Mary back home, and the compassion shown to both her and you during her final days, will be shared with the staff involved. They will be profoundly touched to know that their commitment and support provided you with comfort, peace, and lasting memories at such a difficult time.

Mum was a resident at Denewood House for eight months until she passed away in December 2024. Staff were always very kind, considerate, caring and treated mum with dignity and respect. Mum was always well dressed and her room always clean. Whenever visiting, I was always made welcome and offered refreshment.
Any concerns raised with staff were always dealt with in an efficient and timely manner. Staff were very good at communicating any concerns they had about mum's health and carrying out her wishes.

My aunt was a resident at Denewood House for nearly 4 years she entered at 94 and I am convinced that she enjoyed another 4 years of life because of the care given to her by all the staff there. I cannot praise them enough, they are so kind, caring and loving nothing was too much trouble. My aunt was
treated with dignity and she was very happy there. She passed away at the home last month and that's where she wanted to be, and I know she was loved and respected by all the staff there.

My nan stayed at Highgrove Care Home a couple of times for a couple of weeks' rest bite. She is very food-fussy and nothing was too much trouble for the chefs. The staff was great and she made some great bonds with them. We were allowed to visit as many times as we liked, any time of day.
Highly recommend.

Following months of hospitalisation, my husband was admitted to Denewood House Care Home for 3 weeks of rehabilitation. I cannot speak highly enough of the care he received at this home. The entire staff showed great kindness, excellent professional care, empathy, understanding and encouragement to
him whilst the chef and catering staff ensured that all their excellent food was presented to him in the most appetising form.
The building itself is a comfortable, safe, spotlessly clean and homely environment with a peaceful, happy atmosphere whilst warmth, kindness and dignity have been encountered at every turn.
I would certainly recommend this to anyone seeking a residential care home for a loved one or, indeed, for themselves!

My mother was resident at Denewood House November 2020 until she contracted pneumonia and died in hospital in December 2021.
My mother, whilst dying at the hospital, suffered an attempt to gain personal information from a person purporting to be a family member. The hospital staff traced the telephone
number to a landline at Denewood House. The hospital officially documented and reported the contact to Dorset Council. I reported the contact to the management of Denewood House & CQC. No resolution/outcome notified.
Whilst at Denewood House a GDPR data release request was made for my mother. The information disclosed documented inconsistencies and inaccurate assumptions recorded by Denewood House staff.
My mother stated she liked the food and staff at Denewood House; however, repeatedly stated to family she wished to move. This was disregarded when raised by family with Denewood House staff.
My mother died in December 2021; personal property returned with two items of sentimental value broken.
Reply from Caroline Bleach, Director at Denewood House Care HomeWe wish to offer our sympathies and condolences as his mother is sadly missed in Denewood House Care Home for her laughter, gentle character with other residents and great staff relationships. She enjoyed her stay with us, especially the activities and social times within the home.
This lady was listened to and her situation was undertaken by our local social services teams and Care Quality Commission and their advice and guidelines were followed by ourselves for her best interest and wishes.
We would like to add that we always endeavour to act for our residents, their wishes and communicated needs at all times with "genuine care for loved ones".
