Overview

The Review Score of 9.8 (maximum of 10) for The Old Rectory is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  • a) The Average Rating is 4.8 out of 5 from 13 Reviews over all time. This Average Rating is also the rating value for The Old Rectory in Google's Search Results - more info

  • b) The score for the number of positive Reviews is 5 out of 5 from 7 positive Reviews in the last 12 months.

Detailed Breakdown

  • a) 5 Points are available for the Average Rating of all Reviews over all time. For each review the Care Home / service is rated Excellent, Good, Satisfactory, Poor or Very Poor on a number of areas eg Staff, Management etc. The Care Home receives points for each rating as follows: Excellent = 5. Good = 4. Satisfactory = 3. Poor = 2. Very Poor = 1. These points are added up and then divided by the total number of completed ratings to generate the average rating.

    The Average Rating of 4.797 for The Old Rectory is calculated as follows: ( (125 Excellents x 5) + (25 Goods x 4) + (3 Satisfactorys x 3) ) ÷ 153 Ratings = 4.797

  • b) 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 12 months. If there are no Positive Reviews in the last 12 months, then 2.5 points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 2 years. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with 'Extremely Likely' or 'Likely' in answer to the question 'How likely are you to recommend this Care Home to friends and family if they needed similar care or treatment?'

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 5 Positive Reviews, 3 points for the first Positive Review and then 0.25 Points for each of the next 4 Positive Reviews.

    2. 1 point is available for reaching a target number of Positive Reviews based on 20% of the number of registered maximum number of service users. If the target is partially reached then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home with 50 registered maximum number of service users has a target of 10 Positive Reviews, if it has 10 or more Positive Reviews it will receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews will receive 0.7 points.

    3. If there are no Positive Reviews in the last 12 months, then 2.5 points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 2 years. The calculation is the same as above, except the points are divided by 2.

The 5 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for The Old Rectory is based on 7 positive Reviews in the last 12 months and is calculated as follows:

    1. 3 + 0.25 + 0.25 + 0.25 + 0.25 = 4

    2. Target of 5 positive Reviews (25 registered maximum number of service users ÷ 5). 7 Reviews ÷ 5 Target Reached = 1

  • When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.

9.8 The Old Rectory has a Review Score of 9.8 (9.797) from 13 Reviews

I visited my Grandad a few days ago and was very impressed at the standards in The Old Rectory and, most importantly, my Grandad is very happy there. I am a care worker who used to do agency work so I can be very critical of some care homes but this home seems to be one of the best homes that I have visited.

The Old Rectory Care Home has excellent staff, very caring, helpful and brilliant with both patients and visitors.

Food and the way that it is served is excellent, the whole house is beautifully clean and tidy.

Management very professional and helpful, a pleasure to talk to. Entertainment everybody is happy with the music that they can all sing a long, visiting entertainers very good. Can't fault the home in anyway. Top marks.

The Old Rectory provides fantastic care. Its best asset is the staff who are unfailingly caring and alert to all the resident's needs. The rooms are lovely, light and nicely furnished. Food is tasty and varied, great cake!
But best of all, it just feels like home. (I'm in love with the chickens!)

In the 16 months since my mother-in-law arrived at the home, we have been so pleased with the care she has received. It has the atmosphere of proper home, not a hotel or hospital. The staff are warm and friendly both to her and to the family. The home is small enough for all staff to know every resident well and to be aware of any changes which may be concerning. Every resident is given the opportunity and encouragement to take part in any of the varied and imaginative activities organised by the lovely entertainment team. We have been to several events organised for families to come and take part in but we also have access at any time to visit Mum. The food is of a very high standard, the birthday cakes delicious! We arranged for a small family gathering at the home to celebrate again our son's wedding which Mum was not able to attend. The staff were so kind, set aside the dining room and laid on food. Some of the residents came and joined us. We couldn't have asked for more.

The Old Rectory provides a friendly and intimate environment which really suits my step-mother. She enjoys a certain amount of freedom and is allowed to be herself which is important to her. The extra care in-house plus the minibus outings are an additional bonus. I am delighted that my decision to move my step-mother here was the right one for her and she seems very happy and content.

The Old Rectory has a lovely, homely atmosphere and my father settled in more quickly than we expected. It is wonderful to see him beaming at his carers obviously enjoying their company. One of the most impressive features of The Old Rectory is that whenever we visit, usually unannounced, whoever opens the door to us almost, without exception, knows not only where my father is but what he is doing.

My mother moved here from another care home. She has moderate dementia. The care she is receiving is excellent and they have already resolved some of the more difficult issues in her behaviour.
The atmosphere is one of a calm, managed, cosy environment. The management work well and proactively with the supporting medical services in the area. She has a beautiful large and recently refurbished room, which is en suite. There is a beautiful garden which is sheltered and very accessible. There is a mini bus for trips.
I am delighted that I moved my mother there. I feel she is safe and cared for.

My mother was welcomed to the care home having zealously defended her wish to stay on her own in her home. She has vascular dementia and other mild psychotic issues. She was unsettled and disruptive in the first few weeks but the manager and her staff were determined to help her relax and settle.
With the support, care and incredible professionalism combined with appropriate humour and compassion my mother is now as happy and relaxed as she has ever been in her entire life. I cannot convey how exceptionally brilliant The Old Rectory is. The whole family are delighted and relieved.
