Millbrook House is a residential care home second to none. Having visited four or five care homes in the area with a view to my Mother going into respite care for a couple of weeks following a long stay in hospital, there is NO comparison to the very excellent care, attention and support demonstrated
at Millbrook House.

Everyone is so attentive and has time to listen and make residents feel inclusive and welcomed, it's like a family, headed by a wonderful Manager and supportive team, who provide 5 ***** care day and night.

A monthly schedule is sent to relatives showcasing a wide variety of events run by enthusiastic staff, including excursions, stimulating cognitive activities and creative pursuits, to name but a few.

The residents' communal rooms such as the lobby, dining room, lounge and drawing room resemble a 5 ***** hotel and the grounds are palatial. The bedrooms are equally well-furnished, warm and comfortable.

The people and place make Millbrook House special.

The family is fortunate to have discovered The Old Rectory for our elderly mother in the spring of this year. It is a homely care home, where the staff are unfailingly cheerful and helpful. The residents have the run of the whole care home, are encouraged to eat meals together and to take part in
communal activities. These range from craft activities, through armchair yoga, to singing, visits from external animal lovers and even local school choirs. The ratio of carers to residents is excellent and mother is met with first class care, attention and kindness from all quarters. Management is equally caring, is on first name terms with all the residents and leads by example. Communications with the care home are timely and responsive, and there are no restrictions on when visits can take place. There is a delightful outside terrace leading into a mature walled garden, a safe space for all to enjoy when the weather permits.

Mum has been a resident at Millbrook House Residential Care Home for 5 years. Throughout her stay, the care she has received has always been excellent, the meals are prepared to suit her dietary requirements and her room is clean and well presented. The Manager and Head of Care are always available
if I have any concerns and they have excellent links with the local GP. MBH run a full and varied activities program, and encourage residents to joint in. Whenever visiting, I am always greeted with a friendly face and a lovely smile, a quick update on what mum has done that day and how she is generally, I'm made to feel very welcome. Millbrook House is a beautiful house in a quiet village, the gardens are stunning and have views of Hambledon Hill.

My mother moved into Bramley House recently and we have been delighted with the high level of care which she has received. We were allowed to decorate her bedroom with pictures and furniture to make it feel like home and the staff and managers have all been very warm in welcoming her. She requires
extra assistance with manoeuvring and dressing and the staff are highly trained in using the appropriate hoists. The food and activities have been great and generally there is a very friendly team spirit amongst the staff and managers. We feel very relieved with her move to Bramley House.

My mother-in-law has been resident at The Old Rectory for the past few months as she has dementia and we needed to keep her safe, which she wasn't any more in her own home.

We moved her from the other side of the country and she settled here far more quickly than expected and generally seems very

content. What is particularly nice is that the staff also appear to be very fond of her. They are caring and, if they have any concerns, get in touch immediately with us. The Old Rectory is homely and welcoming and the food has proved a big hit too with my mother-in-law, a notoriously fussy eater. Overall we are very happy with the care she is receiving and are very grateful to the staff who look after her.
Reply from Amanda woon, Manager at The Old Rectory

Thank you for you positive comments, there was always great communication between the whole family and the home, this made the transitioning go really well and Mother in law settled quite quickly, she has a lovely personality and all the staff are very fond of her. We have all worked well on making sure that she enjoys her food, as we knew this would be a positive experience for her and the family. From the initial enquiry to moving Gran in has, thankfully, been a pleasant and smooth process. We had a few issues with Grans release from hospital and transfer to The Old Rectory but throughout this very stressful process, I felt very supported by the team. We arrived on admission day to friendly
welcoming staff and this was the point we knew we had made the right decision. I am sure I was very annoying during the first few weeks by calling most days with questions but not once did I feel anything was too much trouble for the team. I'm so pleased we found The Old Rectory as Gran appears settled (as much as she can with dementia) she is extremely well looked after. The staff are always happy, attentive and patient. I would 100% recommend this home.
Reply from Amanda woon, Manager at The Old Rectory

Thank you, Stephanie, for such kind words. We appreciate positive feedback. Our staff try to make any transfers as smooth as possible. It was positive from the moment you called to enquire about Gran coming into our care. Gran has settled well into The Old Rectory and makes us all smile daily. We pride ourselves in making everyone feel welcome and part of a family. We offer support not only to the resident but also to their families. We encourage family members to contact us as much as they need to, which gives reassurance to families and the residents.

We have used The Old Rectory twice in the last few years. On both occasions our parents received excellent care and attention from the team.
When our dad was transferred to the home, he only had a few weeks of his life left. At all times he was treated with the utmost respect and dignity. The staff
are patient, caring, amazing at what they do. Not only did they care for dad but they looked after us too, guided us every step of the way. Despite dad wanting to pass at home, we couldn't get him there. He passed away in the next best place. We'll never forget the kindness of the staff.
On the second occasion, we used the respite services for mum when she broke her arm. Again, the service, care and attention was excellent. The staff did a great job of keeping mum comfortable and we truly believe this resulted in a pretty fast recovery for a woman of her age.
We want to thank all of the staff for their dedication to both our parents. We wouldn't hesitate to recommend The Old Rectory.
Reply from Amanda woon, Manager at The Old Rectory

Thank you for your kind words. They are very much appreciated. We will always remember your dad; he was a wonderful gentleman and a charming man. It was heart-warming to see a family so close and committed to being with their father until the end. Caring for Mum was a joy, and we understood the urgency of her needing to return home. She also worked diligently on her recovery, which made it a true delight to assist her. Our staff take great pride in providing the best possible care, and we have some excellent team members here. I am proud to manage both the team and the home.

My mother has been there for over 10 years. She has been looked after mostly but she had a bad fall unnecessarily, leaving a bad scar on her face. Recently I visited with my sister, her hair had not been washed and her shoes had holes in their soles. We were not alerted. The carpet in her room, which
is tiny (same price) is completely worn out and rucked so it is a trip hazard. I am not impressed by this home.
Reply from Sarah Wagner, Director at Bramley House

Thank you for your feedback. We are truly sorry to hear about your concerns and appreciate the opportunity to respond and provide clarity. Your mother's care and comfort are our highest priorities. Personal care is provided daily, and our records confirm this is consistently upheld. Regarding her shoes, we promptly identified the need for replacement and called your sister on 6 December to advise. The issue was resolved very quickly thereafter. Following your feedback, we have asked our maintenance team to review the carpet in her room to ensure it remains safe. The fall you mentioned occurred six years ago in the garden and, while unfortunate, was an accidental incident that we addressed at the time. Our records indicate that it left no ongoing issues or concerning scars. We greatly value the relationship we have with your family and encourage you to contact us directly to discuss this further. Your input helps us continue to provide the high-quality care we are committed to.

Very professional right from the start. At 95 years old my mother suddenly took a turn for the worse and the home-based care was unable to cope with the demands. I set up a respite stay period to get everything in place and the level of support during the whole process was superb. After a difficult
initial settling-in period, Mother now refers to the care home as 'the hotel', and is very happy there in a way that we never thought would be the case. A big thank you for all the help along the way.
Reply from Amanda Woon, Manager at The Old Rectory

Thank you so much for your kind and thoughtful review. We are deeply touched to hear your thoughts. It's wonderful to know that she refers to our care home as 'the hotel' and enjoys the environment. I'm glad that our team could provide the support you needed during the transition and that the respite stay helped set everything in place. We understand how challenging it can be to make such a significant change, and we strive to ensure that each resident feels welcomed and cared for. My father has been a resident for three months now (Alzheimer's), he is settled, thanks to the care and consideration of all the staff. We are made very welcome when visiting Dad, great humour and cups of tea! All are easy to talk to and nothing is too much trouble. If we have any health queries ie
Doctor's visits, chiropodist etc. records are checked and dates given plus all follow-up information. Dad needs a vegetarian diet so extra thought has to be given. The Manager was and is most welcoming which helped the transition. Very happy with his care... a gem.
