A beautiful and very well-kept garden and grounds. Food a bit mixed.
Thank you so much for your lovely review of Millbrook. We really appreciate your kind words about the beautiful, well-kept garden and grounds. It was a pleasure looking after your parents.
Millbrook House is a residential care home second to none. Having visited four or five care homes in the area with a view to my Mother going into respite care for a couple of weeks following a long stay in hospital, there is NO comparison to the very excellent care, attention and support demonstrated at Millbrook House.
Everyone is so attentive and has time to listen and make residents feel inclusive and welcomed, it's like a family, headed by a wonderful Manager and supportive team, who provide 5 ***** care day and night.
A monthly schedule is sent to relatives showcasing a wide variety of events run by enthusiastic staff, including excursions, stimulating cognitive activities and creative pursuits, to name but a few.
The residents' communal rooms such as the lobby, dining room, lounge and drawing room resemble a 5 ***** hotel and the grounds are palatial. The bedrooms are equally well-furnished, warm and comfortable.
The people and place make Millbrook House special.
Thank you so much for your kind words. We're delighted to hear that your experience of Millbrook House reflects the dedication of our team and the welcoming environment we strive to provide. Your feedback means a great deal to us, and we're so pleased your mother felt supported and included during her stay.
The family is fortunate to have discovered The Old Rectory for our elderly mother in the spring of this year. It is a homely care home, where the staff are unfailingly cheerful and helpful. The residents have the run of the whole care home, are encouraged to eat meals together and to take part in communal activities. These range from craft activities, through armchair yoga, to singing, visits from external animal lovers and even local school choirs. The ratio of carers to residents is excellent and mother is met with first class care, attention and kindness from all quarters. Management is equally caring, is on first name terms with all the residents and leads by example. Communications with the care home are timely and responsive, and there are no restrictions on when visits can take place. There is a delightful outside terrace leading into a mature walled garden, a safe space for all to enjoy when the weather permits.
Dear M, Thank you for your wonderful review of The Old Rectory. We are delighted to hear that your mother and your family have had such a positive experience since spring. It's great to know that your mother has settled into a "homely care home" with cheerful and helpful staff. Our residents enjoy...
Mum has been a resident at Millbrook House Residential Care Home for 5 years. Throughout her stay, the care she has received has always been excellent, the meals are prepared to suit her dietary requirements and her room is clean and well presented. The Manager and Head of Care are always available if I have any concerns and they have excellent links with the local GP. MBH run a full and varied activities program, and encourage residents to joint in. Whenever visiting, I am always greeted with a friendly face and a lovely smile, a quick update on what mum has done that day and how she is generally, I'm made to feel very welcome. Millbrook House is a beautiful house in a quiet village, the gardens are stunning and have views of Hambledon Hill.
Thank you for your kind review and for your continued trust in Millbrook House over the past five years. We're so pleased to hear that you've been happy with the care your mum receives, and that you feel supported and welcomed when you visit. Your mum is an absolute joy to care for - she always has...
best of care at all times
I'm so glad to hear that your mother is enjoying her time here at The Old Rectory and that the staff have created such a welcoming environment for her. It's comforting to know that you feel she is in a family atmosphere. We strive to make our residents feel at home from the moment they arrive. Thank you!
My mother-in-law has been resident at The Old Rectory for the past few months as she has dementia and we needed to keep her safe, which she wasn't any more in her own home.
We moved her from the other side of the country and she settled here far more quickly than expected and generally seems very content. What is particularly nice is that the staff also appear to be very fond of her. They are caring and, if they have any concerns, get in touch immediately with us. The Old Rectory is homely and welcoming and the food has proved a big hit too with my mother-in-law, a notoriously fussy eater. Overall we are very happy with the care she is receiving and are very grateful to the staff who look after her.
Thank you for you positive comments, there was always great communication between the whole family and the home, this made the transitioning go really well and Mother in law settled quite quickly, she has a lovely personality and all the staff are very fond of her. We have all worked well on...
A truly home form home setting with ,excellent care and staff, facilities and food. Mother although not sociable seems very happy. I cannot recommend it highly enough. Staff are always on hand and always willing to go the extra mile.
Thank you Nicky for you kind words, we are so pleased to be able to look after your mother, she seems to be happy in her own space and loves chatting to all the staff.
From the initial enquiry to moving Gran in has, thankfully, been a pleasant and smooth process. We had a few issues with Grans release from hospital and transfer to The Old Rectory but throughout this very stressful process, I felt very supported by the team. We arrived on admission day to friendly welcoming staff and this was the point we knew we had made the right decision. I am sure I was very annoying during the first few weeks by calling most days with questions but not once did I feel anything was too much trouble for the team. I'm so pleased we found The Old Rectory as Gran appears settled (as much as she can with dementia) she is extremely well looked after. The staff are always happy, attentive and patient. I would 100% recommend this home.
Thank you, Stephanie, for such kind words. We appreciate positive feedback. Our staff try to make any transfers as smooth as possible. It was positive from the moment you called to enquire about Gran coming into our care. Gran has settled well into The Old Rectory and makes us all smile daily. We...
We want to thank all of the staff for their dedication to both our parents. We wouldn't hesitate to recommend The Old Rectory.
Thank you for your kind words. They are very much appreciated. We will always remember your dad; he was a wonderful gentleman and a charming man. It was heart-warming to see a family so close and committed to being with their father until the end. Caring for Mum was a joy, and we understood the...
My dad stayed at The Old Rectory for a month after leaving hospital. They have helped him with his rehabilitation both mentally and physically. Everyone has been so kind when we have visited and nothing has been too much trouble.
Thank you, Kirstie, for your review. We truly enjoyed caring for your father. I agree that it was a journey for him, and he really embraced his time at The Old Rectory, welcoming the support from all the staff. We are pleased that he was able to return home rehabilitated, and to be back home with his wife and family.
Very professional right from the start. At 95 years old my mother suddenly took a turn for the worse and the home-based care was unable to cope with the demands. I set up a respite stay period to get everything in place and the level of support during the whole process was superb. After a difficult initial settling-in period, Mother now refers to the care home as 'the hotel', and is very happy there in a way that we never thought would be the case. A big thank you for all the help along the way.
Thank you so much for your kind and thoughtful review. We are deeply touched to hear your thoughts. It's wonderful to know that she refers to our care home as 'the hotel' and enjoys the environment. I'm glad that our team could provide the support you needed during the transition and that the...
My two week stay at Millbrook House Residential Care Home came as a huge blessing following all the hard work and stress entailed in moving house from Poole to nearby Shaftesbury. The care there was perfect - unobtrusive, gentle and sensitive to one's needs. It was an absolute pleasure to be there, and in such wonderful surroundings. Thank you very, very much!
Thank you so much for your review. We are so pleased that your stay was a positive experience and that the care was 'perfect'. We are very grateful for your review and feedback. Thank you.
My father has been a resident for three months now (Alzheimer's), he is settled, thanks to the care and consideration of all the staff. We are made very welcome when visiting Dad, great humour and cups of tea! All are easy to talk to and nothing is too much trouble. If we have any health queries ie Doctor's visits, chiropodist etc. records are checked and dates given plus all follow-up information. Dad needs a vegetarian diet so extra thought has to be given. The Manager was and is most welcoming which helped the transition. Very happy with his care... a gem.
Thank you so much for your kind words and feedback. We are delighted to hear that your father has settled in well and receives the care and attention he needs. It's wonderful to know that our staff's dedication and consideration have positively impacted both your father's well-being and your...
The Old Rectory staff took great care of my father when he visited for two weeks respite following a stay in hospital. Nothing was too much trouble for the staff, they were very kind and thoughtful. The accommodation was always clean and well-maintained and my father was very comfortable during his stay. There was a daily programme of activities and beautiful gardens for my father to exercise in and rebuild his strength. It was a very positive experience.
Thank you, Janice. It was an absolute pleasure looking after your father a true gentleman, it was great to see him progress and gain his strength back so that he would be able to go back home. A happy ending for you all.
My mum has been a full time resident for 6 months. She is well care for, happy and is kept busy with lots of activities. I visit regularly and always have a nice reception and the care for my mum is second to none.
Thank you for such a kind words. Our staff enjoy making our residents happy and fulfilled with great care and lots of fun activities to make each day special but also interesting for them. It's a pleasure looking after all our residents.
Our friend has been at Millbrook for 5 years now and when we first viewed the home we needed to ensure that this could be his forever home. Our initial impression was wow and in all this time it has not changed. The home is delightful, clean, spacious and welcoming. The staff have always been considerate, courteous, and kind. Our friend is treated with the utmost respect and is allowed to be himself. He is happy and content and we cannot thank the management and staff for all that they do. We are always made welcome and we can leave each time completely assured that our friend is where he needs to be, with people who truly care about him.
Thank you very much for the wonderful review. We're really looking forward to having some nicer weather so that your friend can sit and enjoy the sunshine in our beautiful garden again. Regards.
It's difficult to have to move a loved one into care. After a local search, Millbrook House was chosen to be the right place for our mother, as soon as stepping through the front door. Inside this beautiful property, you will find professional and extremely caring staff who know their charges extremely well. No issue is too small. Mum moved in at the beginning of 2020 and was well protected and cared for during the pandemic when we were unable to visit until a room with a screen was set up, allowing us to be in the same space. We also spent many of our visits in the beautiful garden when rules allowed. We are informed on health issues as necessary, and there appear to be good links with the local GP practice. We have found the management to be excellent and totally approachable. Millbrook is a family, and we are proud to be part of it.
Thank you for such a lovely review. Thank you for choosing Millbrook House. It is totally our pleasure to look after Mum, and we enjoy your visits.
Millbrook House Residential Care Home is a beautiful setting and I enjoyed my short respite stay.
Regards.
I very much enjoyed my stay at Millbrook House. The facilities were very homely and the staff very welcoming. I enjoyed the food and some of the activities., I would be very happy to visit again for a respite stay, as I preferred Millbrook House to other respite visits I have experienced.
Regards.
I am delighted that my mother is very happy and enjoying the programme of activities.
It is a pleasure to have Mum with us for a Christmas respite break.
