I cannot commend the management and staff enough regarding the high level of care, attention to detail and support shown to my mother over the period of months that she was looked after at Marchfield House.
The care and respect shown by the staff in general was greatly appreciated. Thank you all.

We would like to say an individual thank you to every member of the Marchfield team, who without exception have done an amazing job of looking after Mum for the last six & a half years.
I would also like to say thank you for all the teams' support & care for me and my sister for the 5 & a half days
we stayed with Mum to see her on her journey. They were really lovely.

My father has been a resident for over three years and in all that time I have felt he has been treated with care, dignity and love. All the carers are exceptionally hard-working and I get the impression that for all of them this is not just a job for them, they genuinely care for all of the residents.
As for most relatives, the decision for a loved one to go into a care home is not an easy one to accept, however with Marchfield House they have made the experience an easier one for all of the family. Knowing how well looked after my dad is really helps the situation for all.

All the staff are very professional, dedicated, caring, friendly and helpful. The managemant are brilliant and take on duties over and above their rolls. I am extremely confident regarding the care my husband is getting.

I always come away feeling that my partner is well cared for and treated with dignity. All the staff are amazing. They are always calm and ready to help him or me when I am there. My only complaint is that his things go missing but that I am sure is mainly down to him.

I found the overall standard and support given to my mother- in- law excellent. The staff couldn't do enough for her. The food was lovely as well as the facilities. She had a great room with an en suite and it was clean and tidy. Each day there were activities for her to take part in if she wanted to
but it was always her choice. The manager was very nice and was always there to explain things to us and kept us informed about everything to do with mums care.

Our family have always greatly appreciated the wonderful care that Marchfield House has given to my grandmother. She was extremely well looked after and we know she enjoyed her time there. Granny recently passed away but the family have fond memories of her at Marchfield House and we feel she was in
safe hands and that her needs were being met. Staff often going above and beyond their call of duty to assist her in daily care activities. I know she enjoyed the food as she was a lover of all things home made and I must admit I always timed my visits for afternoon tea and cakes as they were especially good. Our family has nothing but the highest praise for all at Marchfield House.

My father has lived here for the last six months, he settled well due to the time and reassurance given to him by the staff and management. The home is always welcoming and extremely clean. Everyone treats my father as if he is theirs as well. I have seen his confidence and well being increase ten-fold.

The staff at the home were always very warm and welcoming, discussing issues relating to my mother at all times. They treated her with kindness and dignity at all times, and provided her with the care that suited her needs at all times. Because of her dementia she could be quiet difficult to deal with
but they always managed to achieve everything with kindness and humour that left her smiling.

My aunt went into Marchfield house for respite, enjoyed it so much she decided to stay, since her memory and cognition has deteriorated it is nice to know she is being cared for in a respectful and dignified manner by staff who appear to know the true meaning of person centred. My family and I are always
made to feel welcome and tea/coffee is always flowing.

Current Review Score: 8.5 (8.492)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 8.5 (8.492) out of 10 for Marchfield House is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 4.7 out of 5 from 3 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 3.8 out of 5 from 3 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.706 for Marchfield House is calculated as follows: ( (24 Excellents x 5) + (10 Goods x 4) ) ÷ 34 Ratings = 4.706
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 3.786 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Marchfield House is based on 3 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 10 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, and then 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews and then 0.1 Points for the next five Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.100, 7th = 0.100, 8th = 0.100, 9th = 0.100, 10th = 0.100) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 = 3.25
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 28 registered maximum number of service users is 5.6. 3 Positive Reviews ÷ 5.6 = 0.536
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
