The Old Rectory

Having visited numerous care homes, we decided The Old Rectory was the best choice for mum, it is smaller than most and feels like a big family. The management team were very welcoming, informative and spent time chatting and getting to know Mum and us. The carers are friendly, helpful and professional. Visiting residents is encouraged and we are welcome to join in with activities. Mum is eating and drinking well and menus are nutritious. Mum seems to be getting used to the home and new routine as the weeks go by :)

My wife has been in The Old Rectory for two years. It was my choice initially because it gained high reviews for care and support. They have used the space within the home carefully. Rooms are spacious, and they have sensory areas and other rooms for the use of residents. It is a home from home. The level of care is exceptional. The staff are well trained and provide a high level of care which is delivered compassionately. I have never seen an agency care worker filling in for an absent member of staff. The food is of a high standard and is varied and adapted to suit the needs of the residents. Exercises and entertainment are offered on a regular basis. A very high standard of cleanliness is always maintained and the management is approachable and receptive to the needs of the residents and family members. Medical issues are dealt with quickly and efficiently and the furnishing and decor are maintained to a high standard. It is a safe environment and the staff have provided me with peace of mind knowing that my wife is always treated with the highest level of care, dignity and support.

This is a very nice residence which has the ambience of a country house hotel. The staff are friendly and caring and treat the residents as members of an extended family. They are equally welcoming to visitors and keen to help with any issues. They go out of their way to provide entertainment and make special occasions eg birthdays extra special. I am delighted with the care that my mother is receiving

First and most important: my mother is very happy, she feels cared for and we know she is safe. Though mums medical situation is tragic, this home makes the situation stress-free. There is no corner of the Old Rectory which is not well maintained to the highest standard, no corner smells like many other homes do. The care is consistent cheerful and friendly - meaning that my mother feels at home. Visitors are always welcome and there is always space to visit. The gardens too are perfect enriching the outbuildings. "Even better" points: more attention to fitness, fewer biscuits and as with all current cost of care - I wish it was less. In summary - the best home I know.

Management Jo and Rosemary were very helpful and efficient. Happy to show me around and look at rooms including first unannounced visit. Mums room was lovely looking over the garden a recliner chair was provided for her to use. The care team were amazing and looked after her very well, chatty, friendly and supportive. Special shout out to Sue who went above and beyond.

At the heart of everything is the care, comfort and dignity of the resident as they navigate , in my mother in laws case, the frightening progression of dementia. My family always felt welcome when visiting. I cannot recommend this home enough.

I highly recommend the Old Rectory as from the moment I first visited I knew it was the right home for my Mum. The staff impressed me immediately with their warmth and professionalism and this has been consistently held true for my Mum's care over the last four years. They treat my Mum with dignity and respect, and I genuinely feel that they deeply care for her - this peace of mind is priceless for me. The food is varied and excellent - especially the cakes! My Mum enjoys the wide range of activities and particularly relishes the singing and dancing. There is a mix of social areas and quiet spaces, which provides a nice choice, depending on how she is feeling. The building itself is beautifully maintained, very clean, bright and welcoming. The garden is always accessible, and when it's warm Mum enjoys sitting and listening to the birds. The bedrooms are well-appointed, and Mum took her most treasured photos and ornaments with her, which made it feel homely. A really lovely home.

the old rectory is an amazing care home ,all the staff ,managers ,cooks and housekeepers are all kind and thoughtful and treat the residents with the upmost respect , i would not hesitate to recommend this care home , its such a friendly , welcoming place .
