Hill Ash House

I visited an old friend of mine, currently a resident at Hill Ash House. I was very impressed with the Home ,the Gardens and setting, with its lovely country views.
The Staff were very welcoming and offered refreshments. We sat in the Pavilion which was mainly glass and had beautiful views onto a lake
and across fields and we had tea and home made cake.
I was also told about upcoming events being held and invited to come along. There is a Coffee Shop where Afternoon Tea is served on certain days and other outside sitting areas to enjoy different views.
My friend told me about the various activities she joins in with, such as Gardening Club, Book Club, Baking and Keep Fit.
They also have a variety of visiting entertainment that she can choose to join in with if she wishes.
I felt the Home had a friendly atmosphere and her room and the Communal Areas were beautiful kept and very fresh and clean.
She is extremely happy there and feels at home.

Reply from Michele Harrison, Manager at Hill Ash House

Thank you very much for your review. I'm so glad you enjoyed the refreshments offered. Our homemade cakes are always a big hit and we regularly hold afternoon teas and cream teas which are very popular. The Pavilion is a recent addition to the home being built in 2023 and has proved invaluable by giving us lots more entertaining space, room for a coffee shop, library and also access into a beautiful Mediterranean garden that also hosts the Gardening club. Having a covered terrace around the Pavilion also means we can use the outside space and appreciate the views all year round.

Hill Ash has been a wonderful discovery, from the moment my aunt arrived the entire experience has extraordinary , the care staff are outstanding , my aunts room is absolutely beautiful overlooking the lake and into the countryside beyond, she loves a walk in their stunning gardens and always seems
to have a full day of interesting activities going on, whenever I join her for lunch in the dining room ( where you have a choice of either eating inside or on the panoramic wind proof terrace !) it is always appealing to her wavering appetite and utterly delicious. I cannot recommend the manager and her team highly enough, thank you to everyone at Hill Ash for the outstanding care you are giving and for making my aunt so happy in her new home.

My auntie came here for a while as we were away. Totally amazed by the support, standard of meals and also entertainment. Said it was like going on her own holiday. Would definitely stay again and if she ever requires long term care we wouldn't hesitate to contact them.

My mother was very poorly when she came to Birchams Grange from hospital. The care & attention she has received whilst being there has been first-class. She is now eating & drinking more, has gained weight and is so much happier. She has become more sociable and is returning back to good health. At
90 years old, her cheeky self has returned and it's a huge relief to know she is loved, cared for and thriving. All down to the wonderful team at Birchams Grange.

Care and facilities are excellent. Staff couldn't be more caring and helpful. Father's room is a little small but was made available at short notice.

Mum has been at Birchams Grange for two years and I have always found the care to be of the highest standard. It is refreshing to see the staff encourage residents to get involved in activities, trips and entertainment. The staff always appeared to be committed and motivated towards residents' care
and always have a friendly welcome and smile for families visiting. Birchams Grange have a great team.

Always a welcome from lovely, friendly staff.
It is never a problem to visit at short notice and always find the resident looking clean, tidy and well cared for. Great that I can take my dog to visit too. The resident gains great pleasure from this. The home is very well run and we feel lucky to have
the resident residing here. Thank you.

Birchams Grange Residential Home

from M G (Stepdaughter of Resident) published on 6 March 2024
Overall Experience  Overall Experience 5.0 out of 5

My family member has been a resident at Birchams Grange for several years and has been very well looked after. During my visits, the atmosphere in the home has always been a busy, friendly and caring place. It is always nice and warm in Winter with a high standard of décor, very clean and fresh.
The
meals are tasty, and there is a well-cared-for garden with an enclosed patio including outdoor furniture to sit out, enjoying good weather with coffee and cake or afternoon tea.
I have always been impressed with the standard of healthcare at Birchams Grange, keeping me well informed, and the management of the recent Covid outbreak was excellent. The staff are amazing, very kind, friendly, and happy to chat, although they are always busy! Trips out are arranged, eg. to see the beautiful bluebells flowering on the slopes of the hills in Spring or to a meal out locally. It is also possible to walk to the nearby woodland café for a change of scenery.

An outstanding standard of care. The staff are overwhelmingly kind and genuinely caring. My mother is living a happy and dignified latter stage in her life, and my brother and I have been greatly comforted to know she is so well cared for. We have complete confidence in the management and the standard
of care.

My experience with Birchams Grange has been incredibly positive. It was a hard and emotional decision to put family into care, but the managers and team have made it as smooth as possible. I am very satisfied with the care for Mum, she is settled, looks beautifully presented and I know she is safe.
The staff treat her with respect and speak to her as a valued person with humour and fondness. There have been a few minor teething issues with Mum settling in due to her dementia and huge change in living conditions but the communication and support has been great. I feel confident we all have the same aim of making sure Mum has the best quality of life possible. Although the care is predominantly for Mum, I feel supported too and I am certain and thankful that this is the right home for my mum.

I highly recommend this small, friendly care home, which is immaculately clean and fresh at all times, with dedicated well-trained staff who are the kindest, warmest people whose aim is the happiness, well-being, safety and dignity of all residents. There is a real team spirit and a happy culture.
My father has lived there for almost a year. He settled in very quickly and is extremely happy.
Meals are home-cooked by a small team led by a wonderfully caring cook who produces lovely well-balanced meals, and fantastic cakes! Much of the food is sourced locally.
The days are well-organised, with lots of activities to suit all interests, and a nice daily rhythm coordinated by a dedicated and fun staff member alongside the care team.
The managers are outstanding, with a hands-on approach. They are close to all residents and communicate well with their families. The care offered allows residents as much independence as possible, whilst recognising when assistance is needed.
