On the whole, my mother seems happy with her care. Because of her condition it is difficult to find out what she has been involved with (memory problems) and I think that sometimes she doesn't take part in the activities because her friend doesn't! The staff, however, are aware of this and do encourage
her as much as possible. There have been occasions recently when the room cleaning has been less than satisfactory and the bathroom has not been provided with a towel. Staff have always responded when I have questioned this.

The management and staff have treated my mother with dignity and provided her with a good room, sound food and drink. They also allow her the freedom to decide what time she gets up and dressed. They take her out once a week and on the remaining days provide activities. The best thing is that now my
mother considers this her home and gets on with everyone. I now do not have to worry about my mother when she was on her own and I know she is being well looked after.

Very positive. Got mum to accept help, take her medicine and lose weight. Mums health has improved, mentally better. They are sensitive to individual needs. I was my parent's primary carer for several years so knew all issues with mum.

Winslow House is a very warm and welcoming home, my Aunt moved there from Norfolk, and so didn't know the area. She has settled in extremely well, and a lot of that is due to the kindness and care of the staff.

Very happy with the care, both personal and emotional, given to my mother. All staff treat her as an individual and are respectful of her, also giving her dignity. Her room is clean and tidy as is her personal laundry.

She is given the opportunity to enjoy various activities, though generally declines

as is happier in her own room and TV. When first admitted there 18 months ago she was very distressed and confused due to a medical condition and new environment, but staff have been very patient and ensured that she settles well. She is now generally content and has adapted well.

Current Review Score: 8.0 (7.957)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 8.0 (7.957) out of 10 for Winslow House is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 4.3 out of 5 from 3 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 3.7 out of 5 from 3 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.278 for Winslow House is calculated as follows: ( (14 Excellents x 5) + (18 Goods x 4) + (4 Satisfactorys x 3) ) ÷ 36 Ratings = 4.278
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 3.679 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Winslow House is based on 3 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 10 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, and then 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews and then 0.1 Points for the next five Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.100, 7th = 0.100, 8th = 0.100, 9th = 0.100, 10th = 0.100) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 = 3.25
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 35 registered maximum number of service users is 7. 3 Positive Reviews ÷ 7 = 0.429
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
