We were very lucky to find a place for Dad at The Cyder Barn. It was an emergency placement and Dad received such warmth and friendliness from the staff during his short stay. We couldn't have asked for anything more. Sadly, Dad passed away and once again, the staff were extremely helpful and caring.
Thank you. I am unable to comment on some areas as we didn't visit.

In the 4.5 years Mum has been in the home, I have always found the staff to be honest, kind and they have shown Mum a lot of dignity. She has always enjoyed the activities, which I think keep the residents going and alert. At the end of Mum's life, they showed me kindness and understanding. I could

I would like to thank the management and staff at The Cyder Barn for the care both my parents received. The professional approach was always implemented, alongside the most wonderful kindness and care to both my parents. Nothing was too much trouble, and I knew that my parents were "safe" and being

Just over two years ago, my mothers Alzheimer’s dementia had reached a stage where she was no longer able to stay in her own home.
My wife and I were relatively new to the area and we wanted Mum to be near us so that we could be around for her, take her out while it was still possible and visit.
We
had nobody to help with recommendations for a care home so had the difficult task of using just the CQC ratings and paying a visit to several homes.
We found The Cyder Barn felt very homely, the staff very friendly and accommodating, and the views of the surrounding countryside from some of the rooms were wonderful. We were encouraged to visit whenever we liked and without the need for arranging a specific time.
Over the two years that my Mum stayed at the home, the staff always seemed very polite and courteous to Mum, and as her needs increased, so did their attention and levels of care.

Mum was only a resident of the Cyder Barn for a short period of time, so I can't answer all the questions fully and have put "don't know" where applicable.
For Mum's stay, I found the staff of the Cyder Barn to be extremely professional and courteous towards myself and family members, Mum had her
favourites, and I could see why when I visited, treated with care and compassion and not talked down to or in a condescending manner, as I have found elsewhere. Towards the end, we were allowed access to sit with Mum, a memory that will stay with me forever, thank you doesn't seem enough!
Please don't be put off by the Barn's appearance, externally it does need a lick of paint or some maintenance here and there, from what I saw internally all looked ok. Mum was here for care and compassion in her last few weeks, and she got it. Thanks to all the staff at The Cyder Barn.

My father was a resident at the Cyder Barn for 3 years where he received a good level of care. Despite his worsening condition (dementia - which often made his behaviour challenging) the staff remained very professional and caring of his needs. Being quite a reclusive man when he moved into the Cyder
Barn, the team were able to get him motivated to join in activities that he thoroughly enjoyed. The strength of a care home is in its staff, and at the Cyder Barn, they all work very hard to ensure the residents are their number one priority.

My late mother was at The Cyder Barn for 9 months and previously for daycare and respite care. Throughout her time there, she received the very best of care and support delivered by professional and caring staff from the manager and all levels of staff in the team. She particularly enjoyed the food
and the activities provided. I would highly recommend The Cyder Barn to anyone thinking of being a resident or to a family who wants the best for their family member.

My father is looked after with care and a friendly attitude. He is happy at the Cyder Barn, joining in with many of the varied activities which include singing, cake making, quizzes etc. The staff are attentive and respectful of my father’s needs.

My Mother's care at her end of life has been exceptional and I am extremely grateful to all the staff for their care and sensitivity towards myself and my family at this difficult time.
All the staff deserve praise and there are certain ones that I feel very touched by and who I will always remember.

hope the management can extend my thanks and gratefulness to the staff at the Cyder Barn they have gone beyond their roles as care staff and that is something exceptional.

The staff and management are very caring, friendly and helpful. Lovely meals and homemade cakes every day. The atmosphere at the Cyder Barn is very relaxed and easy-going and visitors can come and go at any time of day and stay as long as they wish. Lots of interesting activities available for the residents.

Kind caring staff. Always helpful. Cleaning staff are very conscientious. The home smells clean and is kept neat and tidy. The staff are always on hand to discuss Mum's needs and open to suggestions with regard to her out of the norm care.

A new experience for me: four weeks under the roof of Cyder Barn. I experienced great kindness from every member of staff. I was made to feel that nothing was too much trouble. My room was comfortable. I came to feel a member of the of the community even though my stay was only for 4 weeks in all, and
despite having Parkinson's and restricted mobility.

All the care staff have been extremely patient and kind.

A few problems but no doubt they are being reviewed.


The main lift being out of operation yet again is causing a lot of discomfort and problems for the residents as well as the staff. I appreciate it is something of a high priority but the unreliability does not enact urgently with the suppliers

or a new installation should be considered.


Food does not seem as good as before and maybe down to chef holidays but it is a matter of concern for residents.


To date, the care and facilities have been excellent but food is a main part of any residents stay an daily routine and should be watched for any lowering of standards.

My grandmother has been resident since Sept 17 after a particularly harrowing year of ill health. I cannot stress the sense of relief and comfort I feel daily knowing that she is safe and happy in the home. The staff - from senior management and carers to those responsible for activities - are simply
superb. They are attentive to my grandmother's needs, providing reassurance and support through her anxieties and illnesses. Staff make me and other family members feel extremely welcome when visiting or calling the home. They are friendly, and clearly take the time to engage with my grandmother; to talk to her about her day, and to encourage her to participate in activities in addition to supporting her hygiene and medical needs. Management and senior carers are entirely approachable and professional and demonstrably work hard to ensure The Barn feels warm and welcoming where other homes can feel clinical or stifling. We're lucky to have found The Barn and I can't thank them enough.

My Mother became too poorly to live on her own in her flat so going into a care home was very much forced upon us. She had a little dog that was her life so we knew finding a place that they both could stay wouldn’t be easy. However, the first place we found mum lasted a couple days ... it was so an
“old people’s home“, lines of rooms and everyone sat in a big circle in one room doing nothing.
She was taken into hospital re a flare-up of her condition and swore she was never going back.
This put a lot of pressure on us as a family. My son and I went to visit The Cyder Barn. The guy who gave us a tour was a very caring senior at the Home. My son and I got the same vibe from him and the Home. They were both very individual based. Cared for the residents like they were their own family.
The room we were shown was just right for mum and her little dog. It was bright and airy with a door that went out onto a patio.
The day she moved in the smile on her face said it all.

Downstairs rooms have doors to an outside courtyard or leading into the gardens which surround our home. All rooms are equipped with a 24-hour nurse call system, private telephone lines are provided and each room has television aerial point. Free Wifi access available around all areas of our home and use of our lovely communal facilities are available for all to enjoy.
