Oakwood is a newly renovated residential care home based 15 minutes away from Birmingham City Centre.

Specialising in long term care for up to 34 residents, the authentic, independent home offers a home from home feeling throughout its spacious and welcoming environment.

Staff are recruited locally and many team members have been part of the team for several years. The home provides full training and regular refresher updates to ensure all staff provide the highest quality of care, 24 hours a day.

Oakwood is decorated throughout to help maintain a warm, relaxing environment, complete with Dementia friendly areas, such as corridors which are decorated with Dementia orientated scenery.

Residents benefit from en-suite wet rooms, wi-fi throughout, temperature controlled thermostats per room and equipped, fully furnished facilities with several communal spaces to unwind in, such as a dining area, main lounge, quiet lounge and activity room.

The home offers daily stimulating activities to get involved in and a lively entertainment programme to look forward to. There are also daily trips out to local attractions in the city.

The team works hard to make the transition from independent living to residential care seamless, while maintaining independence and choice.

Oakwood treats residents like family, which extends into the individualised service they provide.

Oakwood is a friendly, safe and caring environment. Our uncle has only been at Oakwood for a short time but he has settled in well and feels happy. His sense of wellbeing has really improved.

My nan has been a resident for 3 years now and I have never had an issue with any of the staff or care provided. Management and staff are always happy to help and go that extra mile. My nan is very happy here and has formed some lovely relationships with the staff. I would recommend this care home 100%.

My Auntie has been at Oakwood for 18 months. My Auntie always has a smile on her face. I'm always offered a drink on arrival. Staff are always friendly. Building is a bit dated. More than happy with the care my Auntie receives.

It was a real shock to put my husband into a care home after 50+ years of marriage, but the staff really look after him. The home could do with a facelift which I understand is in the pipeline, but I know I can rest easy because he is there.

All the staff do a brilliant job and work so hard, keep very clean, food looks very appetising. The home itself looks very tired but been informed is being updated. I couldn't have picked a better place for my mum.

My mother has been a resident at Oakwood for 2 years. During this time, I have been extremely pleased with the care my mom receives. All staff display a very caring and considerate to my mom's needs. Always approachable and attentive, my mom is very happy. Food served is always very good, homemade and

I have always found Oakwood Rest Home to be an inviting and friendly place to visitors. From the greeting you receive to being offered a drink is wonderful. The reactions of staff to those they care for is great.
My only concern is the stimulation on offer is not always apparent.

I am glad that mom is here. I feel at rest knowing she is looked after. All the staff are very nice and helpful and it's nice that I can visit her whenever I want.

A large, converted house, rather than a bespoke facility, Oakwood does well in a property that was not designed for the purpose. A large garden with a furnished patio is well maintained and colourful.
Hygiene and cleanliness standards are exceptionally high and there is regular investment to improve
comfort for the residents.
For residents on higher floors, there is an adequate lift; there are ample toilet facilities and a room to accommodate a hairdresser, who visits weekly.
Oakwood's star assets are the management and staff. With horror stories abounding regarding care-homes, the Oakwood team are exceptional; a group of people who genuinely care.
This is no choreographed show that only runs during visiting hours because Oakwood offers open visiting. In my experience, gained over a three-year period, the care has never slipped below a superb standard.

My late mother was in Oakwood Rest Home for many years. During this time, we got to know several of the staff well. The staff displayed kindness, compassion and understanding towards my mother and to the family, which led to warm and trusting relationships.


When my mother was in hospital, the nurses

commented on how well she had been looked after. We offer sincere gratitude to the staff.

Oakwood has very caring staff who understand about dementia.
The residents, from what I have seen, are treated with respect as are their visitors, always a friendly hello and the offer of tea and coffee.


Whilst Oakwood is a little tatty on the outside the inside is what it is all about. They are

dealing with residents with varying degrees of dementia and the families and friends who are still coming to terms with the diagnosis.
No judgements are made as to what people can/can't do, the issues are dealt with as they arise and they are dealt with in such a way that nothing is a problem.
