Overall Experience 5.0 out of 5
My mother received outstanding care to the end of her life at Holly Lodge. All the staff, without exception, provided professional but loving care and were always aware of her current state of health. They kept us well-informed as a family. Medical supervision was administered whenever needed and
I never had cause to question their decisions.

Overall Experience 5.0 out of 5
My mom received the best care we hoped for. All of the staff went far beyond my expectations with their care and understanding that my mom needed. Nothing was too much trouble for them, and we were always made welcome no matter what time we visited.
Can not thank them enough. Words seem inadequate.
THANK YOU ALL.

Overall Experience 5.0 out of 5
My uncle has been a resident here for three years. The quality of care and communication is outstanding. Every member of staff treats the residents with respect and dignity. Nothing is too much trouble for staff who put themselves out to care for individuals. The home is well managed, care plans updated
regularly and family kept informed. Mealtimes are a highlight for the residents with delicious meals served and even a glass of wine with Sunday lunch. On arrival, the manager makes an effort to know as much about a resident's past as possible to aid conversation and getting to know them. Residents are encouraged to be independent, but support and encouragement are there when needed. Large scale entertainment is organised and smaller regular games of bingo, sing songs and games occur daily. Occasionally residents go out to the pub or tea room; funded by a Christmas Fair, which helps make the home a community. As a regular visitor, I am known by name. I'm 100% satisfied.

Advertised as specialist dementia and Alzheimers care.

Unfortunately it was abundantly clear they did not know to deal with dementia behaviour.

In their opinion, nursing and further medical attention was required, however, mom immediately settled in another residential care home.

Just feel

people should be aware.

The team are very nice and pleasant but alas, I feel they want the easiest residents at hand and quickly reject residents who may appear more high maintenance.

Reply from M Ali, Partner at Holly Lodge Residential Care Home for Elderly

I don't agree with the reviewer, Gary. Yes we are registered for Dementia but we only take residents with very light or mild dementia. We are not Dementia specialists and unfortunately we could not care for Gary's mother as her needs were different and she could not settle in.

Current Review Score: 9.5 (9.528)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.5 (9.528) out of 10 for Holly Lodge Residential Care Home for Elderly is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 4.9 out of 5 from 6 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 4.6 out of 5 from 6 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.928 for Holly Lodge Residential Care Home for Elderly is calculated as follows: ( (64 Excellents x 5) + (5 Goods x 4) ) ÷ 69 Ratings = 4.928
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 4.6 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Holly Lodge Residential Care Home for Elderly is based on 6 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 10 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, and then 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews and then 0.1 Points for the next five Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.100, 7th = 0.100, 8th = 0.100, 9th = 0.100, 10th = 0.100) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.1 = 3.6
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 23 registered maximum number of service users is 4.6, which has been reached with 6 Positive reviews. Points = 1
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
