It was with a heavy heart that we finally had to face the fact that our Father needed the care that we could no longer provide at home.
However the moment we entered the Cottage we were put at ease.
The warmth, care and compassion that Dad receives is second to none.
Every member of the staff are
wonderful and your made to feel like one huge, extended family.
We would highly recommend the Cottage and have no concerns whatsoever.

My mom was at this care home for 3 and a half years but she passed away in October 2025. My mom was well looked after and they looked after me too. The care is very good here and the management also. Thank you to Tinu and his team for being there for all of us and without rushing us when mom passed.

My mom has been in The Cottage about 1 year. The home it self is basic but has recently been re-decorated. The rooms are quite nice and Mom has her own things around her.
The nursing staff are care staff and very attentive and friendly towards Mom and treat her with dignity. Since the new management
have come to the home the atmosphere seems to have changed for the better, activity team are always around so the carers are not so stretched. The new Manager seems to have got things done that needed doing. He is very approachable and welcoming.
Overall we're quite satisfied Mom is in the best place for her .

Overall Experience 4.0 out of 5
My cousin has been a resident at the care home since June 2025. Whilst she has found it difficult to accept she now needs permanent residential care, the management and care staff have made strenuous efforts to help her settle in and feel she is in a safe and friendly environment which is her home.
My dealings with all members of staff have been positive, and I always feel they are enthusiastic in their role. They strive to create a pleasant and welcoming atmosphere, and the entertainment team encourage residents to participate in activities on a daily basis. The Xmas decorations are excellent. In summary, I feel my cousin is in a safe place, and is being well looked after.

My sister in law moved into the Cottage Nursing home three weeks ago. Everyone I have interacted with from the Manager to the staff have been very welcoming and supportive. The Manager has explained ways that we can work together to ensure my sister in law has the best experience and his staff have
communicated a caring attitude in what can be an anxious time. Well done to you all.

Overall Experience 5.0 out of 5
Our mother spent over 6 years in The Cottage until she died on 5th October 2025. The care she received throughout was brilliant, the managers and staff couldn't have done more to make mom feel comfortable. The review process asks that we don't mention any names but the present and past managers and
carers have been totally professional. They have always been approachable and happy to discuss mom's care regime and provide updates as needed. Despite the huge stress they were under during Covid, the manager and staff did a superb job in keeping the residents, staff and visitors as safe as possible. Mom also had various hospital appointments and the Cottage arranged these and provided staff, where needed, to accompany her. Mom passed away during the night, but the staff on duty did everything they could to care for her in her final hours and to notify us straight away. This was a great comfort to us. We would thoroughly recommend the Cottage to all residents and their families.

Mom has been living here since June and we couldn't be happier at how well she has settled in, the nurses are brilliant and treat her with respect and dignity, the activity staff are great also, finding fun things to keep residents occupied, pampering, singers, entertainment etc, the cleaners do a great
job keeping the whole home lovely and tidy, the maintenance man is on hand too, all moms meals look tasty especially her desserts which she loves, and the office staff are really friendly and helpful, the manager treats the residents as extended family, he is always polite and good humoured and does a fantastic job along with all the people who work there.Thankyou all.

My mom has been at The Cottage for coming up to 2 years. When first entering it had a homely atmosphere, management were very approachable and staff were lovely. Mom settled in well and we were encouraged to bring things from her bungalow to make her room homely. Then management changed, and things
went south a little. Staff seemed deflated as agency staff were being used more. The home had no activity team anymore so this was left to carers who were stretched thin anyway. Then T the new manager came along and my word what a change. Full of enthusiasm, knowledge and an overwhelming desire to change things . New full time staff, new activity staff. The lounges are buzzing with activities for the residents. The carers have bounces back in their steps. The homely feel was back. It is a fantastic manager and classes residents, staff and family members as his family. The office door is always open with any concerns you may have. My mom is very well looked after and loved by all.

My father arrived at the Cottage Nursing Home after fracturing his hip twice within the matter of weeks, during his stay in the local hospital he began to give way a little due to his dementia and not being fully mobile- which was something he enjoyed for nearly 92 years. I was most concerned at his
low mood and explained to the staff who immediately made him feel welcome and included in everything, within a week he had started to take interest once again in his appearance and was eating and drinking quite happily.

The staff work tirelessly with their patients and all are treated equally and the worry I had of my father fitting into a nursing home subsided as he was quite happy.
Thank you all and I would not hesitate in recommending this facility to anyone who values their loved ones and has been forced to take a Care Home Option.

My husband has been in the Cottage 3 years now, when he first went in there it was brilliant, well managed and staff were outstanding.
But there was some decline regarding new management and lots of use of agency staff being brought in to help with staffing problems. I was in the process of moving
my husband when they brought in new management,
With in 2 months I saw a massive turn around they took on a lot more staff including extra nurses and even employed 4 activity staff.
What a pleasure to walk in now, the place is buzzing with activity all the residents look so much happier, the staff can now give them the attention they deserve, it's a pleasure to see and hear.
The manager T is very approachable with any concerns and you can see his dedication to the job.
A big thank you to all, keep up the good work you are all doing a wonderful job

My Mom was in Cottage Nursing Home for about two months for end of life care. The manager and all of the team were caring. professional and attentive to all of my Mom's needs with nothing being too much trouble. One one occasion my Mom needed medication that needed to be obtained from the Hospital,
the manager went on her rest days to organise this and and then collect the medication which I was impressed by and grateful for.
I would recommend Cottage Nursing Home and would have no hesitation to use it again should the need arise.
A big thank to all the lovely, caring staff.

I have taken my mom to The Cottage Nursing Home today for a respite care stay. What lovely staff they have. Everyone has gone out of their way to make mom feel very welcome and at home. I was expecting mom to be adamant she wasn’t going to stay as she has in the past when I have attempted to leave her
and I had prepared for upset before being able to leave. How surprised I was to find that she was laughing and looked so happy there. One of the members of staff was a joy, she was so bubbly and said just the right things to put us at ease. Nothing was too much trouble for any of the staff, they were all tentative and obliging and I have left mom tucked up in bed watching TV. What a sense of relief I felt to be driving away knowing she is going to be cared for by such lovely people. Thank you to the matron and your lovely team.

Current Review Score: 9.7 (9.735)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.7 (9.735) out of 10 for The Cottage Nursing Home is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 4.9 out of 5 from 15 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 4.9 out of 5 from 15 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.860 for The Cottage Nursing Home is calculated as follows: ( (154 Excellents x 5) + (23 Goods x 4) + (1 Satisfactorys x 3) ) ÷ 178 Ratings = 4.86
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 4.875 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for The Cottage Nursing Home is based on 15 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 20 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews, 0.05 Points for the next five Positive Reviews, and finally 0.025 Points for the next ten Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.050, 7th = 0.050, 8th = 0.050, 9th = 0.050, 10th = 0.050, 11th = 0.025, 12th = 0.025, 13th = 0.025, 14th = 0.025, 15th = 0.025, 16th = 0.025, 17th = 0.025, 18th = 0.025, 19th = 0.025, 20th = 0.025) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 = 3.875
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 33 registered maximum number of service users is 6.6, which has been reached with 15 Positive reviews. Points = 1
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
