The Haven

My wonderful mother has been a resident since August 2025. She has early onset Alzheimer's and vascular dementia, it took a little while for her settle into the routines of care home life, but I must say the care staff are amazing with her. They treat her with dignity & respect. She is always clean & tidy when I visit and looks cared for. What more can I ask for?The Haven is a small care home with a lovely homely feel and I know my mother is well looked after.

Mum was placed at The Haven for a short emergency respite stay 1.5 years ago when it became clear that she could no longer cope and struggled having strangers (carers) in her home. The Haven is an hour or so drive from where my sister and I live but having seen how surprisingly well Mum settled in, we quickly made the decision not to unsettle her further by moving her to a care home closer to us. The personalised care provided by the staff to Mum is exceptional. The Care Home Manager, Claire, clearly has extensive knowledge of Alzheimer's Disease and can reach Mum when she has previously become emotional and detached and the staff have followed Claire's lead. The staff show great kindness, patience and understanding of Mum's condition. Both my sister and I feel completely reassured that Mum is in the best place to receive daily compassion, fun, great activities and the very best care. We would never have known about The Haven but they came to Mum's rescue at a time of great need.

I am kept informed about what is happening and my Dad is welcomed to the home when he visits mum. The staff all help to maintain their relationship whilst meeting my mums needs. Mum was initially at the Haven on respite but knew straight away that this was the place that she could have the care she needed in the long term. I would recommend the Haven to anyone looking for care for their loved one. Thank you the Haven.

Communication is good.

The Haven accepted my mom from hospital, she was fragile and vulnerable. I visited, unannounced and was welcomed by a qualified member of staff, who took the time to show me around the facilities and the rooms. They showed me their health and safety plans and timetables. My first impressions were welcoming and kindness. Mom, moved into a lovely bright room. The staff have worked hard to make a friendly connection and show compassion and support. Later, mom had a mild stroke and the staff, couldn't have been more thoughtful and helpful. Making trips for prescriptions and accomodating social workers and nurses. She has a routine of dressing and living. She has entertainment and key workers that make her smile. I'd like to thank, Claire the Manager, who is constantly improving services and supporting her staff to do a wonderful job. She goes above and beyond to help. The staff every day make a difference and I commend them for it. I would highly recommend this home. Thank you

The Haven is aptly named for any elderly person looking for residential care.

If you are looking for a care home which is small and has a family feel, I would recommend The Haven.

Recently a dear friend went into care at The Haven, the staff are very friendly and look after the residents as if they were their own family, a first class service is provided and the residents are always put first, highly recommended

I couldn't have hoped for a better care home.

Choosing the right care home for a parent is a really difficult decision. However, I shopped around and visited many. The Haven meets care for dementia and nursing residential needs, in a small family atmosphere with a really dedicated team of staff who enjoy what they do and do it well. Social dining in the large conservatory is encouraged and works so well for the residents! The garden is colourful and mum loves the food, the garden, her en-suite room and the staff. Mum has made friends despite a language barrier, and the extra effort by the staff is exceptional. I highly recommend this home for residents or new staff looking for a small happy team to join.

Dad was loved and cherished at The Haven by a staff who are kind, respectful, professional, caring and loving. I can’t praise them highly enough.

Just wanted to write a few words to thank The Haven for the care and love my mum received while she lived there. Mum moved in September 2014 and from day one she was given the time, care and love from all the staff. It was for us as a family so pleasing to know mum was looked after so well, nothing was ever any trouble for them. Mum passed away in Nov 2018 and right to the end the staff showed what I would say true care even sitting with her in her last hours we could not thank them enough for taking time out and coming to mum funeral showed respect for her and giving us the family their support. I thank you all from the bottom of my heart. I would never have any problems letting any of my family members move into The Haven if they ever needed care.

My husband was very happy enough at The Haven. All the staff were very kind and considerate to him. He found the food ok but never hot enough, always just warm. Overall the staff went out of their way to make his stay pleasant.

What a great thought to leave your loved one in a friendly hotel, instead of an institution.

Over the years my father enjoyed a variety of activities within the home including gardening, baking, interest table and social events, he especially enjoyed the visits from the 'Music Man'.

Recently the resident's lounges and dining room have been refurbished creating a lovely homely feel for residents and visitors alike.

The home is small enough to give a very personal service to my mother and family. Dementia brings many problems with care and the owner, manger and staff are excellent.

The Haven has been providing the most wonderful care for my 92-year-old mother for the past three years. The staff are very caring, kind and well trained and go out of their way to ensure that all my mother's needs both physical and mental are always catered for. The property is well maintained having just undergone an extensive refurbishment program and all the rooms are all of a good size offering bright, warm and cheerful accommodation for the residents. My mother feels safe and secure at The Haven and particularly enjoys the fantastic home cooked food.

My mother-in-Law was resident at The Haven for over 5 years until she passed away a few weeks ago. We specifically chose The Haven because of its Home-from-Home atmosphere and friendliness. She was well cared for and she particularly enjoyed the home-style cooking. The staff were compassionate and caring and, when she was able to do so, commented on how happy she was in the home.

I would have no hesitation in recommending this home - I have been required to visit over 200 homes throughout England in a professional capacity and would rank this home in the top 10%.

We would like to thank all the staff for their care and attention afforded to her in her final years.

During my parents stay at The Haven I was very reassured to know that they were receiving excellent care and attention from all the staff who I felt had the best interests of my parents at heart. All the staff showed genuine warmth and compassion when dealing with my parents at a very difficult time. The whole family felt welcome when visiting which was a comfort during this difficult period of our lives.

I feel my mum is much happier since being at The Haven for 15 months. All the staff give 100% of not more.
