Mum has been living at The Haven for just over a year. I have visited many care homes, professionally as a social worker and on a personal basis. What is striking about the Haven is the family atmosphere with friendly and responsive staff.
Mum is extremely well cared for and above all is safe.
I am
kept informed about what is happening and my Dad is welcomed to the home when he visits mum. The staff all help to maintain their relationship whilst meeting my mums needs. Mum was initially at the Haven on respite but knew straight away that this was the place that she could have the care she needed in the long term. I would recommend the Haven to anyone looking for care for their loved one. Thank you the Haven.

My Mum in Law is currently a resident, and has been living at The Haven for just over a year.
She is happy when we visit, and says she likes it there, she has a good rapport with staff, which we've observed when we visit.
In my Mum in Laws working life she was a cook, she says that the home cooked
meals there are good.
Staff are always around, they are visible, chatting with residents and responsive to residents.
Mum in Law is encouraged to carry on with her interest of knitting, and join in with other activities taking place if she wishes.
The home is clean, staff are friendly and welcoming.
Communication is good.

The Haven accepted my mom from hospital, she was fragile and vulnerable. I visited, unannounced and was welcomed by a qualified member of staff, who took the time to show me around the facilities and the rooms. They showed me their health and safety plans and timetables. My first impressions were welcoming
and kindness. Mom, moved into a lovely bright room. The staff have worked hard to make a friendly connection and show compassion and support. Later, mom had a mild stroke and the staff, couldn't have been more thoughtful and helpful. Making trips for prescriptions and accomodating social workers and nurses. She has a routine of dressing and living. She has entertainment and key workers that make her smile. I'd like to thank, Claire the Manager, who is constantly improving services and supporting her staff to do a wonderful job. She goes above and beyond to help. The staff every day make a difference and I commend them for it. I would highly recommend this home. Thank you

My mother has recently moved into the Old vicarage and I have seen a marked improvement in her mood and abilities. It's really good to see that the staff have taken mums needs into account and do their upmost to help guide her through a new phase in her life. Socially mum now has made a few friends
and can have a chat in the day room.

My sister and I have felt secure and happy in the knowledge that our Mother is a resident at the Vicarage for nearly eight years now. Over that time her needs have changed but the staff know her so well that this process has felt seamless.


Mum enjoys her independence , having her own room, and the

opportunities to join in with activities if she feels up to it. She always enjoys going to the dining room for a meal and sitting at a table with others.


We are always welcome to visit whenever we wish, coming from far afield this has to be planned ahead. The team are always very helpful on the phone and welcome us when we arrive with a cup of coffee and a biscuit. We also know that should there be a problem the team will contact us immediately and endeavour to sort it out quickly.


Mum is very happy at the Vicarage, which she refers to as home, and her great grandson thinks she lives in a big house!

Our mum has just passed away but for the last 18 months of her life she has been a resident of the old vicarage. We cannot stress enough how well she was treated, the love, care and kindness was always plain to see, all the staff go that extra mile to give the best care possible, it was reassuring that
when we weren't there that level of care was in place. We thought of the staff and other residents as our second family and we shall definitely miss going to visit mum, it was a regular twice weekly thing to do. We would definitely recommend anyone wanting to place there loved ones in care that the old vicarage is the place to go, it has such a warm homely feel about it and gives a sense of nostalgia as well due to its original old style of building, it is a very quiet and calming place to be and has a nice big garden at the back to sit in when the weather is good. Again we applaud all their efforts that made mum's final few years a life worth living and gave them and us so much pleasure

My parents are well looked after at The Haven. They have good meals and plenty of fluids.
The staff treat the residents as they would their own families. They often go above and beyond to care for them.
The Haven is aptly named for any elderly person looking for residential care.

On visiting Mum, staff are always very friendly and approachable. Nothing is too much trouble for them. Mum is always very comfortable and generally appears happy and settled. Mum's wishes are taken into account and no pressure is put on her to do anything she is not comfortable with.

My 91 year old Father-in-Law is currently a resident at The Haven after it became clear he needed care and was no longer safe living in his own home. It was important we found the right care home for him and one that specialised in dementia care. After having previous experience of a loved one being
in a large care home, we decided we wanted dad to be in a smaller home and one that would feel less impersonal.
I have to say The Haven has been an excellent choice. Dad is receiving quality care from the professional, knowledgeable, kind and sensitive staff. Nothing is too much trouble and whenever we have phoned to check how dad is, whoever answers the call is friendly and is able to give an update on dad without having to liaise with other staff members. We are also able to speak with him on the telephone. When we visit, dad is happy and we can see he is being looked after to a high standard.
If you are looking for a care home which is small and has a family feel, I would recommend The Haven.

My mother has been a resident of The Old Vicarage Residential Home for several years now. She celebrated a milestone birthday there in 2021. With the consistent care of the staff of The Old Vicarage, she continues to thrive. In February 2023 an article appeared in a newspaper about people of 100 years
and more in which my mother was featured. The staff facilitated the phone interview with the journalist and have read the resulting article to her. My mother has a sense of pride in her life’s achievements, with a strong emphasis on helping others.
The staff of The Old Vicarage Residential Home play an increasingly important role in my mother’s care for which I am most grateful. Because I live overseas, the regular phone contact with my mother which involves a staff member assisting my mother with the phone each time I call has been invaluable. The staff always treat my mother with dignity, kindness and an appreciation that The Old Vicarage is truly her home.

From the moment my mum moved to The Old Vicarage I was very pleased with and reassured by the standard of care she received from day one.
The staff were amazing going out of their way to make Mum feel cared for and loved.
The food was always very good and varied. My wife and I were invited to have
Sunday lunch with Mum and found the experience and food to be truly excellent.
In early December 2022 my mum's health deteriorated and the staff were outstanding in their care and comfort of my mum in the last weeks before her passing. But also the support and kindness they showed to myself and my family during this difficult and very sad time was outstanding.
I would recommend The Old Vicarage to anyone wanting their relative to be loved and cared for.

My darling mum lived at the old vicarage for almost two years before she passed away in October 2022. I cannot fault the care and attention that she received from all the team including care staff, cooks and cleaners, who are led by a very professional and caring manager.
I visited Mum on a regular
basis and Mum always spoke about the carers in a positive way, she commented that they were lovely to her. Mum had a good appetite and although the home provided a nutritious delicious hot dinner and pudding every day she wanted hot food at tea time, it was never a problem there was always a choice and toasted cheese was frequently served to Mum which she loved!
In the last few weeks of her life, Mum deteriorated significantly, I was worried as Mum required more care during this time, the team really stepped up and with minimal support from the district nurses they met Mum's needs with compassion and professionalism and I will always be grateful to the manager and her team.

My mum moved into The Old Vicarage in May 2022 following a stroke when she was unable to manage in her own home. We as a family were quite worried about this - however, we were soon reassured and Mum settled in very well within two weeks. It is a lovely friendly environment, being quite a small residence
one feels the personal touch.
Mum is very happy living there. She constantly tells me how well she is looked after and reports that meals are delicious. It has been a weight off our minds knowing she is happy and well looked after. The staff and manager are always available for a discussion and are very approachable. We wouldn’t hesitate to recommend The Old Vicarage to anyone looking for a warm and welcoming home.

My mum was in The Haven for twelve months before sadly passing away.
She was at her happiest while there, the staff were caring, compassionate, loving and were always there for the families of residents too.
The staff always offered refreshments on arrival to visit Mum.
In her last few days, they

Choosing the right care home for a parent is a really difficult decision. However, I shopped around and visited many. The Haven meets care for dementia and nursing residential needs, in a small family atmosphere with a really dedicated team of staff who enjoy what they do and do it well. Social dining
in the large conservatory is encouraged and works so well for the residents! The garden is colourful and mum loves the food, the garden, her en-suite room and the staff. Mum has made friends despite a language barrier, and the extra effort by the staff is exceptional. I highly recommend this home for residents or new staff looking for a small happy team to join.

From first selecting The Old Vicarage for my uncle, we have felt highly confident that all his needs were continuously being met and regularly being assessed with interaction with the family and the senior care staff. Even during COVID, the home kept the family updated, which at times, must have been
stressful for the staff and difficult for the residents to understand, but there was always a regular update. At the times when we were allowed to visit, taking all COVID precautions, we were made welcome and always given privacy to talk. The room was always warm and clean and we were satisfied and grateful that our uncle was in the best possible place. From the cleaners to the manager, we congratulate you.
