The Review Score of 4.2 (maximum of 10) for Parklands is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.
a) The Average Rating is 4.2 out of 5 from 3 Reviews over all time. This Average Rating is also the rating value for Parklands in Google's Search Results - more info
b) The score for the number of positive Reviews is 0 out of 5 from 0 positive Reviews in the last 12 months.
a) 5 Points are available for the Average Rating of all Reviews over all time. For each review the Care Home / service is rated Excellent, Good, Satisfactory, Poor or Very Poor on a number of areas eg Staff, Management etc. The Care Home receives points for each rating as follows: Excellent = 5. Good = 4. Satisfactory = 3. Poor = 2. Very Poor = 1. These points are added up and then divided by the total number of completed ratings to generate the average rating.
The Average Rating of 4.2 for Parklands is calculated as follows: ( (9 Excellents x 5) + (24 Goods x 4) + (2 Satisfactorys x 3) ) ÷ 35 Ratings = 4.2
b) 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 12 months. If there are no Positive Reviews in the last 12 months, then 2.5 points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 2 years. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with 'Extremely Likely' or 'Likely' in answer to the question 'How likely are you to recommend this Care Home to friends and family if they needed similar care or treatment?'
The 5 points available are broken down as follows:
4 points are available for the first 5 Positive Reviews, 3 points for the first Positive Review and then 0.25 Points for each of the next 4 Positive Reviews.
1 point is available for reaching a target number of Positive Reviews based on 20% of the number of registered maximum number of service users. If the target is partially reached then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home with 50 registered maximum number of service users has a target of 10 Positive Reviews, if it has 10 or more Positive Reviews it will receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews will receive 0.7 points.
If there are no Positive Reviews in the last 12 months, then 2.5 points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 2 years. The calculation is the same as above, except the points are divided by 2.
The 0 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Parklands is based on 0 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as follows:
0 = 0
Target of 5.8 positive Reviews (29 registered maximum number of service users ÷ 5). 0 Reviews ÷ 5.8 Target = 0

Review submitted from a Postal Card by Penny C (Friend of Resident) on Thursday 19 May 2016. Relates to May 2016.
The lady I visit has been a family friend for many years, she has settled into the home very well. She has a lovely room upstairs, with lovely views, she has three good meals a day and plenty of choice each day. The staff are very good, but they don't seem to stay long, which is a shame as the residents get to know them then they go. They are doing some work on the gardens this year, so that will be nice for residents to sit outside. They have started to do more activities for residents which is good as otherwise all they do is watch TV and go to sleep. It is a very good home, I love going there, I'm always made to feel welcome.

Although there was a period of time where staff turnround was high, this has now settled over the past 2 months.

I have found Parklands Care Home to be very caring and kind to my mother. It gives her all she needs to be safe and looked after. On the rare occasions that I have had any problems the management have always acted quickly to put things right.

Mom has been at Parklands for two and a half years now. She has dementia and needs 24/7 care. She has her own lovely homely room with several pieces of furniture from her home in it. She has her own private toilet and washing facilities.
It is always clean and fresh and bedclothes are changed regularly. I visit 2 - 3 times a week and take mom out in a wheel chair when ever the weather is ok.
This does not cause any problems as mom can come and go as she wants to, there are no restrictions.
There are two lounges, a quite lounge that mom likes and a larger activities lounge . There always seems to be adequate staffing . They have extensive grounds that are accessible in the summer to sit in with residents.
