Every time,l come and see my mum,l like to know,if l need to know, what has had happened,,does not seem to be any communication within the home, the home is really nice and the staff are friendly, not very happy with the meals, how much my mom pays for rent, and she gets brought in meals, and sometimes they
do not look very nice, let alone to eat them.

As ever, my father has received excellent care and attention. He is treated with the utmost respect from all members of staff who take their time to talk with Dad and to have a joke. Dad sometimes refuses for his room to be cleaned and this is the only reason for good. My dad has just told me how well
looked after he is. He is kept clean and receives good meals. As a family, we are very happy with Stone bow House.

Both of our parents are residents of Stonebow House. I am extremely grateful for the care they receive from all of the wonderful staff. They are safe, very well looked after, the food is wonderful. Their rooms are clean and comfortable and homely. There are activities including a weekly visit from the
hairdresser.
A fantastic addition to the excellent service is that family and friends are welcome. We have enjoyed lovely meals together as a family to celebrate special occasions, thank you!

Walking into Stonebow, you are met with a feeling of homeliness and warmth. There are delicious food aromas, and everywhere is immaculate. The staff are so kind, and they treated my father with the utmost dignity and respect. They dealt with a few of his personal issues quickly, efficiently and kindly.
I couldn't recommend Stonebow House highly enough. A wonderful care home.

My Mum has been a resident since November 2019. Before she arrived I made an unannounced visit and was invited inside without any hesitation to have a look around. On subsequent unannounced visits, of which there have been many, I have without exception always found the staff on duty, whatever their
role, to be open approachable and professional. There is always a friendly, personal and welcoming atmosphere and I haven't had any concerns whatsoever in the level of care being given to Mum so far. She has her own room which is comfortable, clean and secure but, disappointingly there are a minority of rooms with ensuite bathroom facilities. In particular, during these last few challenging months re Covid19, Mums care and that of all the residents has been in my opinion of the highest standard. I couldn't fault the approach both the management and staff have taken throughout this period, in what must have been a difficult and testing time for all.

Current Review Score: 8.7 (8.688)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 8.7 (8.688) out of 10 for Stonebow House is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 4.6 out of 5 from 4 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 4.0 out of 5 from 4 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.646 for Stonebow House is calculated as follows: ( (35 Excellents x 5) + (11 Goods x 4) + (1 Satisfactorys x 3) + (1 Very Poors x 1) ) ÷ 48 Ratings = 4.646
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 4.042 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Stonebow House is based on 4 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 20 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews, 0.05 Points for the next five Positive Reviews, and finally 0.025 Points for the next ten Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.050, 7th = 0.050, 8th = 0.050, 9th = 0.050, 10th = 0.050, 11th = 0.025, 12th = 0.025, 13th = 0.025, 14th = 0.025, 15th = 0.025, 16th = 0.025, 17th = 0.025, 18th = 0.025, 19th = 0.025, 20th = 0.025) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 = 3.375
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 30 registered maximum number of service users is 6. 4 Positive Reviews ÷ 6 = 0.667
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.

I've had the pleasure of being part of the Stonebow Team since 2017 and feel very proud to be part of such a caring and supportive community. Since becoming a Registered Manager in 2021, I've loved continuing to support both our residents and staff. Alongside this role, I am also the home's GDPR officer.

Outside of work, I enjoy spending time with my family and going for long walks with the dog.

Job Title: Lead Care Joined: 2026

I have worked at Stonebow house since January 2026 as a lead supporting the registered Manager, staff team, residents and families. I really enjoy audits, planning, risk assessments and care plans. I have been working in health care since 1992.

I started my career as a care assistant in a residential and nursing home, moving on to management within the learning disability sector for the next 26 years. I then joined Stonebow House.

It's wonderful being back where I started supporting older people in residential care. I enjoy sharing my knowledge, skills and experience with the team here and delivering my biggest passion - person-centred care and support.

I trained as a florist when I left school and enjoy sharing this with the people I support. The biggest reward is going home after each shift knowing I have made a difference, whether it's big or small!

In my spare time, I love walking, biking, reading, holidays and being with my grandchildren.
