Overall Experience

My father was living in abacus since September 2025.

Outstanding place.

He has now passed but at all times staff remained calm, approachable, kind and compassionate. Nothing is or was too much trouble.

Had he been anywhere else he would not have been this well cared for. I have knowledge of some terrible places due to my work.

Thank you to everyone.

All the domestic helpers and the laundry. The cook can cook!! Food was fab.

Choices were fab.

Snacks were plenty

Activities were great

This home goes above and beyond.

It does not smell and is so homely. Relatives included in all care.

Five stars to all.

Apologies to anyone I have missed there are too many to mention

My grandmother loves it at Abacus. We moved her here after concerns from her previous home. She is now settled and very happy. All the staff are so lovely and treat all residents with kindness and respect. The home feels like a family. My grandmother loves the regular activities and entertainment and she is encouraged to get involved which is really important with her dementia. Over Christmas she attended multiple events and meals outside of the home which she really enjoyed. As someone who works in healthcare and visits care homes regularly there isn't one better than Abacus. I highly recommend to anyone. My grandmother is so loved and cared for.

Abacus care home as been providing fantastic care for my mum for a few months now ,I'm always kept upto date with any changes in her condition or medication, the management team are always open for chat of any concerns which you might have .
I find all the carers here polite and are very attentive to all the of the residents, theres always a hot drink or at least your asked if you would like a drink which is also a nice touch .

The social areas are very clean and they are kept this way by the staff the rooms are clean and well decorated and there are home comforts ,tv ,radio and some colourful ornamental flowers all in all it's a brilliant place .

We cannot thank the staff and management team enough for their care and support of my mum before her passing.
The support for the family throughout her stay and after her passing was also amazing.
They genuinely care for the residents and their families and we couldn't have chosen a better place.

Thank you from the bottom of our hearts.

My mum spent a very happy 14 months at Abacus Care Home before passing away in June. The home is bright and clean. But what makes this home special is the manager and all the staff. They are supportive and friendly, always go the extra mile with their care and support for their residents. The entertainment is first-rate.
I'd like to thank everyone at the home for making Mum's final months comfortable and dignified.

Thank you so much for everything.

Abacus House is a friendly and caring home. The staff are very welcoming to visitors. There are a lot of activities for the residents i.e bingo, jigsaws, colouring, crosswords, puzzles, music to mention but a few. My mother is very happy here and that is what puts families at ease. The food and snacks and special treats they do are fab.

They have Chinese meals, cheese and biscuit nights, and often have a live singer.

Although my father is not happy about being in a care home he always smiles and starts talking to whichever carer greets us when we take him back after trips out. He doesn't know that he is unable to look after himself alone, but I am very happy that he is looked after 24 hours per day which he really does need.

Abacus Care Home is very clean. The staff, care assistants, cooks and cleaners are very friendly, polite and in my opinion, give 100% dedication to the residents. I've gone in at different times of the day and the atmosphere is always the same. I would highly recommend Abacus to anyone who needs care. The food is always good and well-presented.

Thank you so much for your incredible review. I am so happy that we have met all your expectations from us. It is also nice that you have mentioned our housekeepers and cooks too, as they often get overlooked but are just as much part of the team as the care staff are. We look forward to seeing you again soon.

Mum-in-law has been at Abacus Care Home for seven months. We visit regularly and have seen on numerous occasions how the Abacus team interact with the residents in their care. They are always courteous and respectful and attentive to residents needs. Importantly they have a sense of humour. Mum-in-law is always clean and comfortable and her room is also kept clean and fresh.

My Dad has dementia and needed respite care due to my mum being totally worn out as my Dad doesn't sleep well. I suggested to my mum, sister and brother that Abacus House house looked good and I had heard good reports so we arranged for him to have a weeks respite all the staff were really nice it is kept well no smells like some nursing homes. I would definitely recommend Abacus to anyone who is looking. My Dad will definitely be visiting again soon.

Resident focused care, ensuring residents are encouraged to make decisions for themselves and encouraged to be involved in the resident-focused care and freedom of choice.
Relatives are encouraged to engage with the home staff and have open door access to discuss any issues or concerns of their loved ones.
Care staff are thoughtful, caring, show empathy to the residents and maintain the resident's privacy and dignity.

Care staff and management are professional at all times and I would not hesitate to recommend this care home to others.

Abacus is very dementia friendly and the manager is very knowledgeable about dementia/Alzheimer's.
The staff are friendly, caring and hard working.
My dad has been at Abacus for 3 and a half years now and seems quite happy and content.

There is entertainment every week for the residents and the entertainment manager always arranges something special for occasions such as Easter, Mother's/Father's Day, Christmas etc. I am very pleased with the care home.
