Bank Close House is an exclusive care home situated in a Georgian listed building which has been tastefully extended. Set in four acres of private grounds in Chesterfield, Bank Close House welcomes short and long-term residents, providing both dementia and residential care, as well as respite and day care. The friendly and experienced team carries out in-depth planning to ensure clients get the best care and quality of life from their holistic care plans.

Bedrooms at Bank Close House are comfortable and well-equipped, and residents have a choice of lounges and seating areas with comfortable and specially-designed furnishings. The modernised house has retained its family feel as care has been taken throughout the home to ensure that the 'old' and 'new' blend together harmoniously. The experienced team of cooks provide residents with delicious and nutritious home-cooked food. Special dietary requirements can be catered for.

Bank Close House focuses on personalised care for older people and is also effective in dementia care. The rear of the property offers 12 purpose-built bedrooms in former stables. Bank Close House also boasts an additional purpose built extension to offer a further 16 bedrooms which are full en-suite wet rooms and are fully furnished with excellent views of the landscaped garden.

The home is warm and homely and provides access to the secure walled rear garden.

When we were looking for respite for my Dad this was the only home that said 'No appointment needed come see us anytime' We went the same day and found the right place for my dad. The Manager and staff are fabulous they go out of there way to support residents and families. Home cooked menu all the
time and always encouring residents to join others for meals etc.


My dad was in for 3 weeks respite and then stayed an extra few months before he sadly passed away.


Many thanks to all the staff the care was exceptional and we would definitely recommend this care home to others.

What a lovely place. The managers are so helpful, thoughtful and caring, and this attitude filters down to all the staff. My mother did not have a bad word to say about the staff or the accommodation, which is high praise indeed coming from someone who could find fault in anything! All the staff helped
make the experience of moving Mum into the home a lot less stressful than it otherwise might have been. I would recommend Bank Close House.

Our whole family were so impressed by the care and attention given by ALL the staff here towards Mum. She needed respite care following a few weeks in hospital and needed some TLC. The staff and management team here at Bank Close House were totally caring, thoughtful and attentive at all times.
We noticed they went above and beyond to support Mum, for example taking time out to curl her hair and making sure she was comfortable, working to getting Mum back on her feet and independent again. We also noticed how kind and thoughtful all the staff were to other residents, continually caring and chatting with them. The staff were always working and with the residents. Really humbling to see the love and care shown to others. Well done to you all! Just lovely people. The old house is beautiful - lovely to sit in the grounds - with the new wing very smart if you prefer mod cons.
A huge personal thank you to everyone here and we would fully recommend Bank Close House.

My friend has been at this home since May 2024 as she has Alzheimer's. She was happy there but bored as they do nothing with them apart from play bingo which she can't do. They've had one live music afternoon in nearly a year despite stating different on their website. They had packed her clothes the
day I was moving her so I didn't get chance to check anything and on unpacking she's got items not hers and a lot missing. She often looked unkempt and so do some of the others. 2 residents were wandering corridors in this large house with no staff in sight and didn't know where to go I had to fetch the cook from the kitchen to assist them as no staff around. Senior staff often stood at the back door smoking so the house smells of smoke. Member of staff smells of alcohol which is a concern when giving out meds. I've also witnessed a lot of things so I would not recommend this care home at all. Avoid if you want a caring home.

We have many activities that our residents enjoy. on your visits positive feedback was always given. Unfortunately, as your friend's needs changed it was agreed BCH was no longer the most suitable place. We were asked by you to pack your friends' belongings. BCH is designed for service users to mobilise freely if they wish and all care has been taken to reduce the risk of harm should they wish to mobilise freely. Bank Close House has a designated smoking area outside away from the home this is used by staff and residents. We have not had any concerns or evidenced any staff smelling of alcohol. My mum has been at Bank Close House a few weeks now, at first she was upset due to a big change.
Mum is very comfortable now Bank Close is very homely and cosy, the staff are very friendly and attentive, the manager is very approachable, nothing is too much trouble for him, hard-working.

My husband arrived at the care home at the end of September with mobility issues from a fractured hip. He also has dementia and this has been a slow ongoing process the last ten years. I had arranged a holiday for October and normally our children look after him but were not able to on this occasion
due to the mobility issues. The plan was for him to come home in November but so far this has not been possible.
He has settled in well and appears to be content there. He doesn't tell me anything but the staff are very pleasant and helpful. I can visit anytime and management are always available to answer queries. His room is in the new extension and is well equipped and comfortable with an en suite bathroom.
I can't comment on value for money as this is my first experience of long term use of a care home and I believe most care homes in the area charge the same fees. He has had short stays at another home in the past but this was some years ago when fees cost considerably less.

As residential care is a new experience for my husband and myself, I have nothing to compare Bank Close House with. However, so far, the experience is proving generally good. Most importantly, my husband is settling in well. Although the home is undergoing renovations, safety, comfort for the residents
and cleanliness are very good. The food is also good, according to my husband who really enjoys it! Management and staff are always happy to listen to my concerns and have helped to solve them. I'm informed of any necessary changes to medication and treatment he needs. The atmosphere is friendly and informal which encourages us to visit frequently any time, apart from meal times. Overall, I'm very relieved that my husband feels happy and comfortable with the helpful and caring staff.

The care provided for my mother at Bank Close House has been and continues to be absolutely first-class. As soon as you enter the door, the first feeling is of the friendliness of the environment within the home. All the team show genuine care for all the residents, be they there for short-term respite
or permanent residents. It really does have the feel of being a family home for everyone and I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend Bank Close House to anyone who needs care or who has a loved one needing care and support.

The home is very old looking due to the age of the building. I'm sure it could be brought more up-to-date. The staff are friendly and are good with the patients. am kept up to date on my friend's health by telephone if I am not able to visit him. I am overall pleased with the care he has been given.

Mum moved into Bank Close House, Hasland in August 2022 from a previous Care Home that I had concerns about. The staff at BCH seem very friendly whenever I visit and very approachable. However, although mums overall care is much improved compared to her previous placement, I do still have concerns.
My main issue is the laundry, so many of mums clothing items went missing even though carefully labelled everything before she went into BCH. This became so repetitive that we now do all of mums laundry ourselves, despite being included in her fees. I am unsure if any stimulating activities take part at BCH either. Mum seems much happier in BCH which means a lot, but there certainly is room for improvement.

My Father had a short respite stay here. Due to the level of care he received, we had no alternative but to move him to another home.


In my opinion, I feel the home is inadequate and would greatly benefit from some further staff training to ensure the best care is given to its residents in the

most professional way.


I am unable to recommend this care home as it fell below my standards.

The staff care a great deal about those under their supervision and work hard, despite the fact that they are few in number. The meals are great and nutritious. The setting of the home is fantastic, in its own grounds with large gardens and lots of trees. A very relaxing setting.

The level of care Mum gets from the staff is exceptional. Also, on the ball for any medical issues, Mum may have, with medication or if needing medical attention i.e. doctor, nurse etc. We are always kept informed.

My mum was at Bank Close from September 2017 to February 2018. It's a pity I can't mention names of staff as they were all so brilliant with Mum, and some deserve a special mention for going well above what would be expected.
Mum always said she never wanted to go into a home and was not happy about
it, but the staff treated her so well and helped to improve her mobility again after a fall as well as making her feel valued. They all enjoyed having a joke and sharing stories with her. Mum settled in quickly and began to actually be very happy there - and I would have said that would never happen. I would often spend many hours with her there and never felt I was in their way - in fact, the exact opposite.
Yes, the building and facilities are old and a bit shabby, but quite charming and Mum preferred that to bright, shiny modern premises anyway.
Unfortunately, mum had a stroke and has moved into a nursing home. However, she says it is her aim to return to Bank Close - praise indeed!
