Denvernshire care (Mulburry Manor) seems to be more bothered with money rather than the residents. Hardly any improvements have been made to the home and any decorations have been provided by the staff and residents families. There is no where near enough staff to deal with the upper floor where the
residents are homed (dementia). They are rarely taken in to the garden, which has hardly any seating for the people that live there. When they do go outside there are hardly shaded areas. She pays nearly £1000 for her care and what she receives is disgusting. It's very basic and just covers the basic standard of living. Get up, fed and go to bed.
Reply from Poppy Wasteney, Home Manager at Mulberry Manor

I am very sorry to hear the concerns you have raised. We have an open door policy here at Mulberry Manor and management are available to discuss any concerns you may have. The home has undergone many improvements since Devonshire Care took over with many more still planned. All residents spend time outside, including your Mum. Please ask to see the lovely photos we have on your next visit to the home. The home is correctly staffed, we use a dependency staffing tool to ensure this. We have a wide range of activities held within the home and recent outings such as a barge trip with afternoon tea. It would be lovely to be able sit and have a chat with you to show you all the wonderful things happening at Mulberry Manor.

Just like to give a huge thank you to one member of staff in partiuclar, she went above and beyond her job description in helping me to organise a new wheelchair for my sister in law who would of been bedbound without it. This staff member is a busy working mum who always has a smile on her face and
nothing is too much trouble, thanks you're a superstar.!!

No amount of cash could ever recompense the remarkable staff at Goole Hall who look after some of our most frail and vulnerable loved ones.
I was with them when my mother-in-law succumbed to old age.
That she clung on for so long was testament to her own indomitable spirit.
But of equal significance
was the love she received from the carers and their colleagues who, for the four-and-a-bit years that she was their "guest", looked upon her as nothing less than a member of their own extended family.
How old am I now?" was the inevitable question she would ask visitors and staff, even though her mind had escaped relatively intact for a woman of her advanced age.
"You're 98, Mum," was our usual reply. "If you keep going for less than two more years there'll be a card from King Charles."
Sadly, she didn't that milestone, but the metaphorical yards she did cover were the more bearable thanks to her GH carers & others. To them, one and all, we'll be forever in your debt. Xx

I am so happy we chose this home for my husband. The team at Mulberry welcomed us all as a family and gave him an excellent home from home experience at what was a very difficult time. He was so ill, but the team worked wonders to make him as comfortable as possible, happy and get to know him. They
definitely knew what he liked - ice cream and crunchy nut cornflakes. There was so much respect in how they treated him and always respected his wishes, in a personalised approach to meet his needs. The home became part of my life, and made us part of the "Mulberry family". Always someone around who genuinely wanted to know how we were all doing, how we were and let me know what he had been up to. The staff have made Mulberry a home that is built on love, in a caring family-centred caring environment.

What a lovely place. The managers are so helpful, thoughtful and caring, and this attitude filters down to all the staff. My mother did not have a bad word to say about the staff or the accommodation, which is high praise indeed coming from someone who could find fault in anything! All the staff helped
make the experience of moving Mum into the home a lot less stressful than it otherwise might have been. I would recommend Bank Close House.

Our whole family were so impressed by the care and attention given by ALL the staff here towards Mum. She needed respite care following a few weeks in hospital and needed some TLC. The staff and management team here at Bank Close House were totally caring, thoughtful and attentive at all times.
We noticed they went above and beyond to support Mum, for example taking time out to curl her hair and making sure she was comfortable, working to getting Mum back on her feet and independent again. We also noticed how kind and thoughtful all the staff were to other residents, continually caring and chatting with them. The staff were always working and with the residents. Really humbling to see the love and care shown to others. Well done to you all! Just lovely people. The old house is beautiful - lovely to sit in the grounds - with the new wing very smart if you prefer mod cons.
A huge personal thank you to everyone here and we would fully recommend Bank Close House.

My friend has been at this home since May 2024 as she has Alzheimer's. She was happy there but bored as they do nothing with them apart from play bingo which she can't do. They've had one live music afternoon in nearly a year despite stating different on their website. They had packed her clothes the
day I was moving her so I didn't get chance to check anything and on unpacking she's got items not hers and a lot missing. She often looked unkempt and so do some of the others. 2 residents were wandering corridors in this large house with no staff in sight and didn't know where to go I had to fetch the cook from the kitchen to assist them as no staff around. Senior staff often stood at the back door smoking so the house smells of smoke. Member of staff smells of alcohol which is a concern when giving out meds. I've also witnessed a lot of things so I would not recommend this care home at all. Avoid if you want a caring home.
Reply from Sharon Madin, Manager at Bank Close House

Thank you for review We take all feedback very seriously if you wish to discuss your concerns, please contact the home On your friend's admission to Bank Close House. social activities were discussed, at the time You stated she didn't enjoy activities and would prefer staff's company. We have many activities that our residents enjoy. on your visits positive feedback was always given. Unfortunately, as your friend's needs changed it was agreed BCH was no longer the most suitable place. We were asked by you to pack your friends' belongings. BCH is designed for service users to mobilise freely if they wish and all care has been taken to reduce the risk of harm should they wish to mobilise freely. Bank Close House has a designated smoking area outside away from the home this is used by staff and residents. We have not had any concerns or evidenced any staff smelling of alcohol. Kind Regards, Sharon Madin (Home Manager)

Rotherwood Care Home is an amazing place, I cannot thank the staff enough for the care they give to my dad. Each member of staff not only show commitment to their care but also love and dignity to him. After arriving in August, initially for respite, he is now a full time resident as he feels Rotherwood
and all staff have become an extension of his family. We, as a family, can relax knowing he is very well cared for, happy, well fed and comfortable. Thank you to all the staff at Rotherwood, you are an amazing team and I wouldn't hesitate to recommend Rotherwood as the first choice to have loved ones cared for.
