The whole team here at Morton Manor are incredible. Complete peace of mind for all of the family from the day mum checked in, it wasn't safe for mum to be home alone and the regional care co-ordinator found Morton Manor for us on Christmas eve in 2023 and we've been delighted with the service and care
that mum has received.
Thank you to each and every one of you for being like our extended family. x

It's never going to be an easy decision to place a loved one in a care home - nowhere is going to compare to home.
Sadly, my dad has too many complex health conditions to remain safely at home.
He was discharged from the hospital to Morton Manor. He's settled in so well, and as a family, we have
decided to keep him in long-term care. The staff are all kind and caring, and the manager is compassionate.

My father moved here in December 2023 from a residential home as was not able to get the nursing care he needed. As soon as he moved in they assessed his nursing needs, contacted doctors, involved me in all decisions and care plans and asked my opinion all along. They have continued to care for him
as needed and changed plans when deteriorating as necessary. They always know how he is mentally and physically and treat him with dignity, care and friendliness.

I've been coming to visit a resident since December 2022 and I've certainly noticed a great improvement with all the running of the home, staffing has certainly improved, staff caring is excellent and spending time with residents, entertainment and being kind and understanding.
Since, food has certainly
improved and has a choice of menu. The manager has got all things improved 100%, very approachable. Clean. Big improvement with mental health issues and understanding.

An experience I would not like to repeat, the owners and manager in Dec 2021 absolutely hopeless. The home got a new manager who was approachable, caring, and well-qualified but got no support.
Reported an incident regarding the agency carer and my mum, heard about it, and witnessed mum's distress
the same morning, my mum with dementia was so shaken up she could not stop shaking. Spoke to one of the carers who identified who it was and I asked for them to ensure this was documented, no mention of this in care notes, despite emailing the manager and hand delivering a printed email.
The care home stopped using the agency which is explanation enough of the undocumented issue.
The then-acting manager hid from me whenever we visited.
I have involved safeguarding and CQC previously for other matters.
Lack of care notes led to being turned down three times for full funding.
So as it stands and this is not all the issues I would not recommend this nursing home.
They do have some brilliant carers.

This care home is off the scale, it is poorly managed, redolent of urine and the floors are sticky. One Friday the so-called manager left for a 3-day break having changed the locks on the drugs cabinet without telling any of the staff the new code!
The manager has a selective memory when it comes to
facts, he will say and do anything to keep residents in the home.
The health and safety are non-existent, the keys for the courtyard doors are kept on one ring and not marked with the room numbers, and the room my wife was unfortunate enough to stay in had a courtyard door that could not be opened from the room.
The bedding was not even looked at never mind changed for the whole of the week she was there.
The maintenance man told me "the management knew about the faulty lock but would not release the money to be replaced by him".
When my wife wanted to leave the home, the manager told her that she had an x-ray booked for the Friday and they could only pick up at the home. Disgusting.

Mum was discharged from the hospital to Morton Manor in Sept 2021. Overall experience was poor. The room was often unclean, poor communication, lack of management, and on two occasions I arrived to find mum with no cup/glass or drink jug. Always other's clothes in mum's draws and mum's clothes and a
new blanket went missing.

I found The Manor at Morton to be clean, very friendly and nothing was too much trouble if you have a problem with the resident they help solve it without hesitation. I always get asked if I would like a drink, I've seen my brother's meals they are all fresh and homemade. At first, I thought oh no The
Manor, but myself, my daughter and granddaughter went wow! This is lovely. I would recommend and my brother loves it there.

Current Review Score: 9.6 (9.594)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.6 (9.594) out of 10 for Morton Manor is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 4.7 out of 5 from 9 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 4.9 out of 5 from 9 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.694 for Morton Manor is calculated as follows: ( (79 Excellents x 5) + (25 Goods x 4) + (4 Satisfactorys x 3) ) ÷ 108 Ratings = 4.694
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 4.9 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Morton Manor is based on 9 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 10 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, and then 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews and then 0.1 Points for the next five Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.100, 7th = 0.100, 8th = 0.100, 9th = 0.100, 10th = 0.100) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.1 + 0.1 + 0.1 + 0.1 = 3.9
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 30 registered maximum number of service users is 6, which has been reached with 9 Positive reviews. Points = 1
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
