Nothing fazes the staff at Bank Close House. In January 2017, my mother came from Lancashire to view the home and found herself too exhausted to return. Her choice of room was immediately made available and a walking aid provided.

All the staff are kind, patient and caring and genuinely interested

in Mum and her life.

The senior staff are pro-active in their care, anticipating Mum's needs as she deteriorates.

My mother's life is coming to an end and the manager has assured me that they will do everything they can to ensure she is able to die peacefully at Bank Close House surrounded by staff who know her and care about her.

We are enormously grateful to all the staff at Bank Close House for giving Mum such tender care during the last part of her life.

Thank you so much for your kind words, I know without reservation that all of the staff will be delighted that they are recognised for their care, and more so that you feel so assured by how we can support your mum and yourself.
I assure you I will pass on your review and its contents.

A calm orderly home which has given my mother the stability she needs - she suffers from dementia. Facilities and decoration need updating but the care is excellent. All of the staff who come into contact with mum are caring, considerate and thoughtful in all that they do.

The home manager is approachable and always available if you have any questions. The house is friendly and staff appear to be happy in their work. They have a cook at the house who makes delicious food, the residents enjoy meal times together in a relaxed environment.
The gardens around the house
are lovely and the residents have access to a safe area at the back of the house.

Concerns re Dad's mobility were dealt with quickly. Subsequent visits from physio resulted in upgraded walking stick, raised seat (cushion). Throughout manager was always available to speak to and ensured and concerns and solutions were passed on. The home is spotless. The food is lovely, has a very
homely feel about it. The activity organiser engages residents well providing a full and varied, excellent programme of activities. The staff are friendly and treat residents well. It would be really good if upgrades to toilet facilities could be made but I believe upgrade plans are being considered overall, very good.

My mum has been a resident of Bank Close House since June 2016. I have been very satisfied with the service and care she has received during this time.
It gives me great peace of mind knowing that she is safe and treated with the utmost dignity but the genuinely caring staff.

My Grandma was recently a resident of Bank Close Care Home in Hasland. From the moment she was admitted the staff did everything they could to make her comfortable and treat her with dignity. While she was at Bank Close my Grandma had her birthday and the staff made such a fuss of her (and every other
resident who has a birthday whilst there) they did a little buffet tea and made her a cake. Every time I visited everyone there seemed well cared for and they were all treated with respect and as individuals.
Sadly my Grandma passed away while she was at Bank Close but the staff there did everything they could to ensure that she was comfortable and we were allowed to be there with her whenever we wanted. Although it was a sad time we were treated with such respect and we couldn't have wished for anything more for my Grandma. All the staff there were so kind and genuinely seem to care for the residents. I would thoroughly recommend it for anyone looking for a care home.

Thank you so much Rachael for you kind words.
It was a pleasure to have your Grandmother stay in our home and also meeting her lovely family.
Thank you all so much for your support and very generous donations. we have held a service users meeting and all service users would like to use your donation towards more garden furniture, we would also like to place a plaque in memory of your Grandmother on the new furniture.

Current Review Score: 9.2 (9.236)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.2 (9.236) out of 10 for Bank Close House is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 4.3 out of 5 from 10 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 4.9 out of 5 from 9 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.336 for Bank Close House is calculated as follows: ( (76 Excellents x 5) + (21 Goods x 4) + (5 Satisfactorys x 3) + (11 Very Poors x 1) ) ÷ 113 Ratings = 4.336
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 4.9 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Bank Close House is based on 9 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 10 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, and then 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews and then 0.1 Points for the next five Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.100, 7th = 0.100, 8th = 0.100, 9th = 0.100, 10th = 0.100) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.1 + 0.1 + 0.1 + 0.1 = 3.9
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 27 registered maximum number of service users is 5.4, which has been reached with 9 Positive reviews. Points = 1
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
