Richmond Care Home, in Shirebrook, is located within the residential area of Recreation Road. The home is conveniently located for local shops and the town centre. Set within half an acre of land, Richmond Care Home offers peaceful surroundings, with ample car parking for visitors.

The 40-bedroom home offers warm and comfortable accommodation to residential clients, including those living with dementia. Every room has its own en suite facility which includes a WC and washbasin.

Each bedroom at Richmond Care Home is fully furnished to a high standard and is equipped with a call-bell system, TV point, easily accessible light switches and plug sockets. There are many options for bathing including assisted bathrooms and shower rooms, with roll in and roll out showers/wet rooms. One of which has a bath that is fitted with a manual hoist and one with a fully electric hoist, for ease of bathing.

Richmond Care Home has a vibrant activities schedule, for those residents wishing to participate. This includes arts, crafts, baking, letter writing, music and pampering sessions. The care home frequently holds seasonal events and regularly welcomes local baby and toddler groups, and pet therapy groups to the home. On-site facilities include a hairdressing salon and a big screen for film viewings. Outings are regularly arranged in Shirebrook and the surrounding area for those wishing to spend time outside of the home.

Brilliant place. Makes my grandma feel at home and cares for all of her needs. The ladies who help care for her always know how to make her laugh and make sure that she's okay, and she always seems well looked after.

Outstanding, staff and management are very friendly, Supportive and always a to key to help residents and family. The facilities are spotless and rooms are kept in immaculate condition, residents are treated with care & Love and compassion and treated with dignity and respect. Food is of high quality

Mum moved into Richmond earlier this month so has only been there a short while. Richmond care home has a homely feel and staff are very friendly and supportive they go out of their way to help in any way. The staff engage with the residents, include and encourage them in a very friendly way. Mum has
Alzheimer's/dementia and has settled in better than we expected. They have met mums needs and have reassured us as a family that mum is safe and well looked after.

My Husbands Uncle was a resident in Richmond Care Home for ar least two years until he passed away at the grand old age of 105 in September 2024. He was always very complimentary about the staff and the care he received which was second to none. When my wife and I visited we were always greeted with
warmth from all the staff, the home has a lovely welcoming atmosphere. The manager was brilliant and always put our minds at rest when we phoned from our home in Devon to enquire how Uncle was. We have nothing but good to say about this home and would highly recommend it to anyone who has elderly family members in need of care.

My Auntie has been a resident here at Richmond since last April, she sadly suffers with Alziemhers so finding the right place for her was crucial to her receiving the appropriate care, Richmond is the best !! The team are absolutely amazing, they go above and beyond always engaging and caring for all
the residents. There's lots of stimulating activities provided and everyone is encouraged to join in the fun. They have a FB page where photos of events and entertainment are posted on a weekly basis so we can all see how our family members are spending their time.
My Auntie's quality of life has improved 10 fold since moving here. The peace of mind that we have now knowing that she's being cared for and is safe is such a huge weight lifted.
Kate the manager of the home goes the extra mile for everyone and is very approachable if you have any concerns or queries, she's got a great team of fantastic carers, all friendly and very experienced in providing the best care for the residents.

My mum has been in Richmond Care home for 7 years.
Her everyday needs have changed throughout this time and Richmond staff have been able to meet them, so that she is always happy and well cared for. It is very reassuring to know and witness that ALL staff give a 100% .
There is a wide range of
activities which family members are very welcome to join. They have family days where residents and staff families enjoy their time together. It all makes you feel as if you are one big extended family. On fancy dress days staff joined in and made sure the residents had fun happy days. Families are always welcome to have a theme buffet which really pleases my mum.
The owner of Richmond, Management and all staff are always there to support with any worries or concerns.

This home is very suitable for anyone who is very able. Please dig deep into policy and practice if you decide this is a suitable placement. Trust your gut if you see anything that raises concerns. Report it to the home and then take it higher e.g. Safeguarding and CQC. Some lovely staff members who
won't realise what is taking place here.

Speaking on behalf of my Mother, I found the home to be just what was required for her. The staff were all friendly, caring, and compassionate. The standard of care was excellent. The food that I saw was portioned well and of good standard. The room quality was of a good standard and well kept and very

Words can't describe how thankful myself and my family are for each and every one that works at Richmond. Such a wonderful place, the care and compassion we have been shown have been superior. Seeing how our Nana and other residents are cared for is truly heartwarming. It's not just a care home, it's
a home and these people genuinely care about each and every one of their residents, they go above and beyond for everyone who walks through their doors. Though we are now mourning, thanks to Richmond staff the hardest time of our lives now has treasured memories. Thank you to you all, you have a warm place in our hearts forever.

What a lovely place. My auntie stayed here for a month from the beginning of July. Staff are always busy caring for residents. Residents are always doing something, i.e., knitting, making pompoms, celebrating birthdays, they even had a wedding as one resident got married, they regularly take them out
for coffee and cake. Hairdressers and chiropodists come regularly. You are free to visit when you want. The place is clean and tidy. When I visited, I could go and sit in the garden with my aunt and have coffee.

Mum had previously been to the Richmond for respite care several times in the last two years because of her dementia. In March this year I needed cancer surgery and follow up treatment, so she went in for longer and this has now become permanent due to her deteriorating health. We have always been very
happy for Mum to stay there and all the staff are so dedicated (often under trying circumstances) and welcoming, which has been a huge weight off our minds, especially at this difficult time. Mum was finding it difficult to settle in, with being in longer this time, but the staff have been brilliant with her and very supportive with me too, which has been greatly appreciated. The activities they provide are really varied and it is lovely to see all the social media photos of the residents enjoying themselves so much, it is the happiest we have seen Mum in years!

My dad was a resident of the Richmond Residential Care Home for just under 6 months, following his illness, a fall and onset of dementia. During his time there, I found the care home to be very good, his room was very nice and the staff I dealt with were very friendly and the meals provided and the
facilities I thought were very good. I only wish my dad had been less ill and able to appreciate more the facilities on hand.

Staff do very well in trying circumstances. They were very prompt in updating us with any developments and were very knowledgeable in obtaining services, better than the doctors and social services. Some of the staff were observed to go above and beyond with their personal level of care and genuinely
became attached to the patients. Dad was too ill to properly enjoy all the facilities, but I personally enjoyed the garden as did residents who used it.

I find Richmond care home to be excellent. The staff go above and beyond to help the residents feel they are loved and cared for. The staff always give 100% looking after residents' health and well-being and the activities and entertainment they think up for them is brilliant. I would certainly recommend

A long time ago, about 15 years ago now!


What is your favourite thing about your job?


I couldn't choose just one thing, I love everything about my job, especially knowing that I and my team are making sure all of our residents have full bellies. That makes my day!


What do you enjoy doing in your time away from work?


I love to spend my spare time with my friends and family.


If you could give prospective resident and their family a bit of advice for choosing a suitable home for their loved ones, what would it be?


Make sure you look around and speak to staff and other people who have connections with the home. Not forgetting to read all reviews, it's a big decision!

I'm Shelley and I'm a cook here at Richmond in Shirebrook.

A little over 5 months now.


What is your favourite thing about your job?


I love being able to do what I enjoy, cooking! Also, I've really enjoyed being able to get to know our residents.


What do you enjoy doing in your time away from work?


I spend lots of time with my family outside of work and of course cooking for them. I'm also a frequent visitor to rock gigs with my friends too!

My one piece of advice would be this, find a home with staff like ours. Staff that treat your loved ones like part of their own family.
