Dad went into Tavey House in early 2022. In his previous home, he did not engage with staff, he had falls weekly sometimes daily and as a consequence was often bedridden and unresponsive. In the short time he has been in Tavey House, they have worked hard with dad and myself to understand his likes
and dislikes, looking into his life history and experiences. Dad will now engage with the staff and careers and walks, all be it with assistance. He is happy, safe, clean and has not had any falls. I recently had a stroke and Tavey House looked after dads needs keeping me updated with his progress. On my last visit, I was amazed at how much he had improved. I left with a smile on my face and tears in my eyes (these were happy tears). I feel so lucky that Dad and Tavey House were put together to form a true second Family. I can't thank the staff enough for their care and attention. In conclusion, they are amazing and I would highly recommend them to anyone who finds themselves in need of Dementia care.

Tavey House looked after Mum for the last 16 months of her life with great care, compassion and professionalism. Any issues were dealt with swiftly and Mum was safe and well cared for. Her carers showed a genuine fondness and interest in Mum, as did the managers. During Mum's last few days, we were
allowed to stay with Mum and everything was done to support Mum and our family during this heartbreaking time. We, as a family, are eternally grateful for everything Tavey House has done for Mum and us and wish the staff and owners the very best in the future. A great care home run by people who genuinely do care.

Mum moved to Tavey House a few months ago. The staff made her welcome from the word go, even checking her likes and dislikes. Tavey House was always clean and tidy. We were always made welcome when visiting. The staff always checked how our family were too, making sure we were happy with Mum's care.
Mum has progressed so much while living here with support from all the team. I was kept up to date with Mum's health etc, the staff listened if I raised any concerns. I felt reassured leaving Mum in Tavey's care. Thank you all so much for everything!

Each time I walk away from Tavey House, I can smile knowing that my Dad is happy and cared for in his new home. I can’t thank the staff enough for their care and attention. At this time in dads life when he needs the calm, patient assurance that everything is ok, he gets it. The whole of Tavey House
is amazing and I would recommend it highly to anyone who finds themselves in need of quality care. Dementia is tough enough, but they take it all in their stride. Great place.

Mum has lived at Tavey House since March 2022. The staff have been very welcoming and are very proactive in ensuring Mum has continued family involvement. The home is incredibly clean, bright and airy. The food looks delicious and there is an excellent variety. This last month has been an assessment
of Mum's needs and management has been spending time, along with family, to ensure the right services are being accessed/referred to. The staff are respectful and dignified with Mum. This has been a hard decision to move Mum to a care home but the experience has been positive. The management team are very accessible and friendly. They are there to be seen which is excellent.

Mum came to live at Tavey House in March 2022. We found all the staff to be patient and attentive, not only with Mum but ourselves as this has been a difficult time for us. There are certain staff members that go above and beyond. Tavey House is light and airy, very clean, good food, and attention has
been given to Mum's dietary needs as she is finding eating difficult.

Once again the service and care provided by Tavey House, (this time at an NHS funding meeting), has been exemplary. As such, I am more than happy to provide positive feedback and high praise for the team. They show great dedication and professionalism to carry out what is a difficult and demanding job.
Well done and thank you!

Our mum became a resident of Tavey House in late 2021, she initially was unresponsive, would not eat or engage with any staff. What a difference a few months make! She is now engaging with all staff and other residents. She is now walking with the aid of her walker, eating, laughing and more importantly,
she is happy. We are kept updated with her needs and any medical conditions which arise. All the wonderful staff treat her with the utmost respect and dignity. The cleanliness at Tavey House is second to none. All meals are made fresh on-site and residents can pick from a menu of what they would like to eat at mealtimes. My brother and I cannot thank the management and caring staff enough for the wonderful care they give our mother on a daily basis. Thank you.

My mum has been at Tavey House for around 18 months now. She moved in during Covid restrictions and although this meant limited access to my mum, I always felt she was safe and well cared for. It's a lovely, small, intimate home, recently extended and modernised. The staff are all welcoming when I visit
and I'm kept informed of everything that's happening regarding routine appointments/health issues. Any minor issues have been resolved quickly. Most importantly, my mum is happy there; she enjoys the food and feels safe.

Recently put my partner into the home which has been an upsetting time but couldn’t have been made to feel any more comfortable and at ease with all the staff at Tavey care home. Settled very well. The care home is very clean, food looks great. I can see staff pay good attention to needs and are generally
interested. Very friendly and caring home, couldn’t thank you all enough.

I am happy with the level of care and accommodation at Tavey House. I feel my mother is happy there and is safe with 24-hour care. It is a nice care home with a homely feel to it. It has been extended over the past few months. The home is very well led by the manager and the care staff are excellent
and attentive. The home is very good at updating family on situations as they happen in the home. Any queries can be taken up with the manager as and when they arise. There is a good level of care, good choice of food with drinks provided throughout the day. There is a very relaxed atmosphere and all the staff input a sense of cheerfulness. All residents are included in any activities that take place. During the pandemic, I felt confident that my mother has been well cared for and looked after.

My dad has been in Tavey House for a few weeks now having moved in due to deterioration of his Alzheimers. He settled in very quickly within the first couple of weeks. I am happy that he is safe and has 24-hour care that meets all of his needs. He seems very happy with the carers and seems to enjoy
having the company of other residents. It has been hard with the current lockdown not being able to settle him into his new home, but staff have been very helpful and caring with this. I am now able to visit safely and have really enjoyed seeing his lovely smile when I see him.
It is very reassuring that he is looked after well, and I am happy with the care he is getting. Thank you to all the staff for doing such a great job in these difficult times.

My mam has been a resident at Tavey House for almost 4-years. She has severe Alzheimers.
It has obviously been very difficult during the pandemic and not being able to visit her. My dad is 90-years-old and used to visit her every afternoon. To ensure the continuity wasn't lost during this time, the
care home manager arranged a video FaceTime between them. This has been done on a regular basis approximately 5 times per week with the manager or one of her lovely staff. This has been invaluable and a great lifeline for my mam and dad. I have also been able to see her this way and am able to telephone the care home at any time for information and updates on her welfare. She is looked after very well, cared for, safe and protected and treated with respect at all times.
Reply from Joanna Lokat, Physiotherapist at Tavey HouseThank you for your review and kind words about how mum is being cared for with us at Tavey House. Hopefully, when things settle down with the lockdown restrictions, we will be able to resume outdoor activities and trips. We see the value in keeping in contact with loved ones, as every moment is precious. We look forward to seeing you soon.

Current Review Score: 9.6 (9.629)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.6 (9.629) out of 10 for Tavey House is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 4.9 out of 5 from 11 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 4.8 out of 5 from 11 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.854 for Tavey House is calculated as follows: ( (115 Excellents x 5) + (11 Goods x 4) + (4 Satisfactorys x 3) ) ÷ 130 Ratings = 4.854
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 4.775 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Tavey House is based on 11 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 20 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews, 0.05 Points for the next five Positive Reviews, and finally 0.025 Points for the next ten Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.050, 7th = 0.050, 8th = 0.050, 9th = 0.050, 10th = 0.050, 11th = 0.025, 12th = 0.025, 13th = 0.025, 14th = 0.025, 15th = 0.025, 16th = 0.025, 17th = 0.025, 18th = 0.025, 19th = 0.025, 20th = 0.025) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.025 = 3.775
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 18 registered maximum number of service users is 3.6, which has been reached with 11 Positive reviews. Points = 1
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
