The Chestnuts is a specialist home, providing residential care for up to 14 younger adults aged 18 to 65 with learning disabilities and autism - including those with Asperger syndrome and Fragile X - as well as individuals with mental health needs, physical disabilities and sensory impairment. Its small size is one of its most important qualities; every resident is truly known here, and the team builds the kind of close, trusting relationships that make a real difference to people's lives. A large domestic-style kitchen gives residents the opportunity to develop and maintain their independence in a safe and supported environment. The home also offers four self-contained one-bedroom flats with kitchenettes for residents who are ready to take meaningful steps towards greater independent living. It is a small home with a very great deal of heart.

I visited my friend and was made very welcome by the staff and other residents. The home appeared very friendly and clean. My friend is on respite at the home and can't wait to have another visit. Activities are very good.

Hi, I’m Lisa and I have been the Home Manager at The Chestnuts since June 2021. I have over 25 years’ experience in the care sector, supporting people with learning disabilities, mental health needs and nursing requirements across a variety of settings.
I began my career in care in 2006 as a Care Assistant and worked my way through a number of roles, becoming a Registered Manager in 2009. Much of my earlier career was spent within the elderly care sector, managing both residential and nursing homes, where I developed a strong foundation in delivering high-quality care.
I joined The Chestnuts in 2017 as Deputy Manager and was later promoted to Home Manager in 2021. Since joining, I have developed a real passion for supporting adults with learning disabilities and enhancing the lives of the people who live here.
I am committed to ensuring our residents are supported to develop independence, build confidence and enjoy fulfilling daily lives through meaningful activities and community engagement. I am equally passionate about supporting the team to deliver high-quality, person-centred care.
I am proud to lead a dedicated team that shares the same commitment to creating a safe, supportive and welcoming environment for everyone who lives at The Chestnuts.
