My Aunt has been a resident at Layden Court for 3 years... She hasn't been the easiest and is quite a character. Over the years the staff have got used to her and her ways, they've always been accommodating and very patient with her.
Since Chantey started there's more things going on like get togethers,
meetings, party's where everyone can be involved and it's nice. I get regular updates and videos of my aunt which puts my mind at rest that's she's doing okay. .It's a welcoming homely place where I feel my aunt is safe and cared for. .
Reply from Chantey Hickling, Registered Manager at Layden Court Care HomeThank you for taking the time to leave such a lovely review. It really means a lot to both the team and me.
Your aunt is certainly a character and we truly adore her. It has been wonderful getting to know her and seeing the relationships she has built with the staff over the years. Our team always aims to provide care with patience, kindness and understanding, so it's lovely to hear this has made a positive difference.
I'm also pleased you've enjoyed seeing the activities and events taking place in the home. Keeping families connected through updates and videos is very important to us, and I'm glad this gives you reassurance.
Thank you again for your kind words and for trusting us with your aunt's care.

So pleased we chose Layden Court for my husband, who suffers from advanced dementia & required an EMI bed. It was so difficult finding somewhere suitably equipped for his needs. From the moment we walked into Layden Court we knew we'd found the right place.
The home Manager, Chantey is so caring,
kind and treats her clients with so much love and affection which comes naturally to her. She is such a lovely lady, bubbly, calm, professional, caring and loving. She provides regular updates regarding your love one and address any concerns as soon as possible, nothing is to much trouble. The caring staff do a fabulous job making there clients feel at home caring for their individual needs The atmosphere of the home is so loving and warm, one big happy family.
Events are held on a regular basis, coffee mornings, sing along and lots of arts and crafts.
I wouldn't hesitate to recommend Layden Court for your loved ones.
A big thank you to all staff.

I understand how difficult it can be to find the right place for a loved one, especially when specialist dementia care is needed, so I'm very pleased that you felt Layden Court was the right home for your husband from the moment you visited.
It's wonderful to hear that you feel supported and reassured by the updates and communication we provide. Our team works very hard to create a warm, caring and family-like environment where every resident is treated with dignity, kindness and respect.
I will be sure to share your kind feedback with the staff, as it will mean so much to them.

My grandma stayed at Layden Court after an admission to hospital from a previous care home. Unfortunately she wasn't able to return to the previous home due to outstanding issues, but since arriving at Layden Court as an emergency admission she received a large warm welcome from care staff and management.
Although my grandma's health declined rapidly the care staff worked extremely hard to ensure she remained comfortable. Management always present in the care home even on weekends which was lovely to see. Can't thank Layden Court enough.
Reply from Chantey Hickling, Registered Manager at Layden Court Care HomeThank you, Kelly, for taking the time to share such a heartfelt review about your grandmother's stay at Layden Court.
We are truly grateful for your kind words about our team. It means a great deal to us that you felt your grandmother received a warm welcome and compassionate care during what must have been a very difficult time for your family. Ensuring our residents feel comfortable, respected, and supported is always our priority, especially when their health declines.
Your recognition of the staff and management presence in the home, including weekends, will be very much appreciated by the whole team. We are proud of their dedication and commitment to providing dignified, person-centred care.
Please accept our sincere condolences for your loss, and thank you again for trusting Layden Court to care for your grandmother. It was an honour to support her and your family.

Following a hospital admission for my father we had to find an emergency placement for my mum. We chose The troc due to the location and also on visiting the welcome and warming environment.
Mum could not be more grateful for the care she received at the troc and only praised all of the care staff
at the home. Mum also mentioned that the home manager popped in daily to ask how things were and she appreciated this. We also extended her stay for a further five days and found the troc very accommodating to enable us to do this.
Reply from Tyler McCullagh, Regional Manager at The TrocThank you for taking the time to leave a review.
I'm glad to hear your mum felt welcomed and well cared for during her stay at The Troc, especially at what must have been a stressful time for your family. It's really nice to hear she spoke so highly of the care team and appreciated the manager taking the time to check in with her.
I'm also pleased we were able to accommodate the extension to her stay when you needed and I know the team would happily welcome Mum back anytime.

Pat was looked after well, despite having dementia, she was just like a stroppy teenager latterly. And could be difficult to deal with sometimes. She certainly let the caregivers no if she wasn't happy with anything.so yes me and the family was happy with the care she got and the communication from
them
Reply from Chantey Hickling, Registered Manager at Layden Court Care HomeDear Julie,
Thank you very much for taking the time to share your feedback about Pat's care. We truly appreciate your kind words and your honesty.
Caring for someone living with dementia can be challenging at times, and Pat's strong personality certainly kept us on our toes. It was important to us that she felt able to express herself, and we're glad she felt comfortable enough to let us know when something wasn't quite right. That openness helps us provide care that is respectful, responsive, and centred on the individual.
We're very pleased to hear that you and your family were happy with the care Pat received, as well as with our communication. Your comments will be shared with the team, who work hard to ensure residents are treated with dignity, supported with compassion, and cared for in a safe and welcoming environment.
Thank you again for your trust and for your valued feedback. It truly means a great deal to us.

Layden Court Care Home

My adorable Dad has been at Layden since January 2021. Initially, he went in together with my Mum for what we thought was going to be respite care. Sadly, Mum passed away in May 2021. The care shown by Dr Kersh and the staff was then, and has remained, compassionate, considered and real. They have cared
for my Dad through his confusing loss of Mum and his decline over the last 5 years. There have been challenges along the way with varying standards of management over the years but now, thankfully, we have hit the jackpot with Chantay! To see the staff genuinely care for my Dad has made an awful time tolerable. Yes, the food's great and plentiful and there's always plenty going on by the way of events but for me the staff make this place. They have treated my Dad like one of their own and have shown true care and love for him. In addition, their care has also extended to me by showing concern and consistent support throughout.
Reply from Chantey Hickling, Registered Manager at Layden Court Care HomeThank you so much for taking the time to share such a thoughtful and heartfelt review. Your words truly mean a great deal, and I'm incredibly grateful for your kindness.
It has been an absolute privilege to support your dad, and I'm so pleased that the care and compassion shown by the team has brought some comfort to both of you during what has been a very difficult journey. Your feedback is deeply appreciated and will be shared with the staff, who genuinely care and strive to treat every resident and their family with dignity, respect, and warmth.
Thank you again for your trust and support. Please know that we are always here for you.

The quality of care being given to my mum at Layden Court far exceeds the care she has recently received in RDGH
The staff have gone above and beyond to make my mum as comfortable as possible
The staff have spent their time sitting with her, talking to her, encouraging her to eat and drink
Since
arriving back from hospital my mum has been cleaned, dressed and well cared for
Reply from Chantey Hickling, Registered Manager at Layden Court Care HomeThank you for taking the time to share such positive feedback about the care provided at Layden Court. We are truly pleased to hear that your mum felt comfortable, well supported, and cared for following her return from hospital. Our team works hard to ensure every resident is treated with dignity, kindness, and compassion, and it is very rewarding to know this has been recognised. Your comments regarding the time staff spent offering reassurance, encouragement, and support with personal care and nutrition are greatly appreciated and will be shared with the whole team. The Hazelford Residential Home

from Sandra P (Wife of Resident) published on 16 February 2026

I reviewed Hazleford Care Home 2 weeks after M moved in. After being his sole carer for 18 years I was upset at handing him over to the care of others. I had always put him first and now he was one of many living in a strange environment and feeling resentful. I knew straight away Hazleford was good
but now, 2 months later, I wish to upgrade my ratings.
I regularly take M to Daycare, appointments and social activities and the staff get him suitably dressed. He has mobility problems so getting him in or out the car is no easy task. In the terrible weather the staff are always good humoured despite getting very cold and wet.
Whenever M perceives a problem, whether genuine or imagined, Shaun and his team listen to him and resolve the problem or gently soothe him. He misses his 1 : 1 home care but he is well looked after and safe in their care.
Reply from Shaun Rodgers, Manager at The Hazelford Residential HomeThankyou for your lovely words and I appreciate you taking the time out to complete and re-review following MP now being more settled. I look forwards to working with you to ensure that the care of all residents continues to improve.

Our friend has spent the last 18 months here until her recent passing. ALL the staff were patient, kind and respectful towards her even when she was having an 'off' day. She was safe and extremely well cared for with a lovely room, delicious food and numerous activities. There were regular coffee mornings,
sing alongs and special occasions for both residents and their family/friends. The atmosphere is cosy and homely and nothing is too much trouble. Thank you to everyone working there, you are a credit to the home.

The manager of The Hazelford is kind and considerate and this is reflected by me seeing his contended and caring self. He gives the job his all, he even saw the New Year in with 4 residents - my husband included. He makes Hazelford a happier place and can be completely trusted. He is sympathetic to
both residents and relatives. he is in complete control and stands for no nonsense. He is aware of all that happens and nothing misses him. He is knowledgeable, down to earth, very approachable and an excellent manager.
Reply from Shaun Rodgers, Manager at The Hazelford Residential HomeThis is wonderful to hear and the team around me deserve the highest credit also as I would be lost without them. We will continue to strive for improvments.

My mum has been in Layden court for roughly 3 years, she is very settled and happy.
It's very welcoming and friendly, I enjoy spending time with mum in the care home.
The environment is relaxed and cosy.
There has been a lot of changes but now the new manager is in place I have seen so many positive
changes.
Christmas was very magical, so many decorations, balloons and festivities.
They have been given a piano which is lovely as my sister played Christmas carols for all the residents.
The food is lovely at lunchtimes, choice from 2 with vegetables and potatoes or chips.
They have a lovely big back garden, me and mum have spent many warm evenings sat out with the sunshine on us.
They have a staff are so friendly and accommodating, they are a 2nd family to my mum and feel reassured that she is safe and well looked after.
The manager is very friendly and always compassionate with her role.
She communicates effectively with the family, keeping us updated on mums care.
