A lovely home but 'tired' and dated
The staff were wonderful, caring and nothing was too much trouble
The food looked amazing.
Even though the home needs upgrading the care from the staff were 2nd to none.
Everywhere was very clean and the home did not smell of urine.

All the staff appeared to be happy and it was well run by the deputy manager who always gave a good greeting. (And hugs)

Review of Bunkers Hill Care Home from Sarah N (Daughter of Resident) published on 21 July 2026 Submitted via Website
Overall Experience
Our Mum was admitted to Bluebell unit at Bunkers Hill for nursing care, following a spell in hospital, and it sadly became apparent that she was approaching the end of her life. All the staff made a real effort to ensure that Mum was kept comfortable during the last weeks of her life, and she was treated with care and kindness throughout.
In addition to this, my sister and I were struck by how friendly and helpful all the staff were towards us, which made a difficult time more bearable.

By the time Mum arrived at Bunkers Hill she was bed bound and hardly eating, so it has been difficult to review some of the sections such as activities, and food and drink. However, we feel happy that Mum was well looked after in all aspects of her care. Thank you.

Review of Tynefield Court from N B (Resident / Service User) published on 20 July 2026 Submitted via Postal Card
Overall Experience

The care + support provided by all staff is exceptional there is a good mix of activities available + participation is good. The kitchen staff are excellent + I enjoy the freedom of being able to make my own hot drinks + quick snacks. It is clear that all staff take safety + security very seriously which leads to residents feeling safe. My room is now set up just how I want it and I enjoy spending time in it with family + friends.

Review of St Michael's Nursing and Residential Home from K W (Daughter of Resident) published on 15 July 2026 Submitted via Website
Overall Experience
My Mother has lived at St Michael's since 2022 and reached the age of 100 in March this year. The standard of care has always been excellent and the staff look after Mum with kindness and affection which becomes especially important as her mobility deteriorates and she becomes more frail.
Mum has always enjoyed the food and always assures me that I can go 'up to the hatch' any time I'm hungry and they'll give me something to eat. It's reassuring to know that Mum is so comfortable and happy.
I am forever grateful to all the staff at St Michael's for the wonderful care they provide for my Mother and it's very apparent that the other residents are also well cared for.

It's also reassuring that the patients' shared living areas and individual rooms are pleasantly and appropriately decorated and kept to a high standard of cleanliness.

Reply from Rebecca Wheeldon, Registered Manager at St Michael's Nursing and Residential Home

Review of St Michael's Nursing and Residential Home from John S (Partner of Resident) published on 14 July 2026 Submitted via Postal Card

This was Ann's 1st experience of respite care. The preparation visit was clean & provided good information regarding programme, facilities & support. During her stay at St Michael's Ann was well cared for and any worries she may have had were managed. All the staff were friendly and clearly were able to support Ann and provide good information as to her progress.

We were very happy with the whole process and will use St Michael's again.

I would like to thank all the staff and management for helping to have my mum seen by the mental health team, which led to having a medication review to help calm her down when she starts to get angry. Since the review she has been closely monitored and when they see an attitude change she is given medication to calm her down, making the staffs job much easier to deal with. Keep up the good work.

My husband has now been at Tynefield Court for 2years! and although the caring staff have always been good (they are actually amazing so kind and patient) the individual rooms are good and kept clean, the food is good and well varied, plus the nursing staff are quick to attend as and when needed, there is plenty of entertainment available for anyone well enough to take part!?
The new manager is very approachable and friendly nothing is too much trouble and will sit and listen to any worries you may have!

A big big thank you to everyone my husband is very happy there so if he's happy so am l

I cannot fault anything about tynefield court my mum has settled in very well and is very well looked after she asks for a cup of tea and she has it within minutes. There are always plenty of carers about to look after the residents. The carers all know their jobs and what they are doing. It is very clean and tidy mums room is spotless. The manager and her team are on top of everything and certainly know what they are doing. Mum has 3 meals a day and the food is excellent all done fresh on site. I would highly recomend Tynefield to anyone who is looking for a care home for their loved ones.Thank you very much from the bottom of my heart for everything you do for my mum.

Review of Red Oaks Care Community from John D (Son of Resident) published on 19 June 2026 Submitted via Website
Overall Experience
My 89 year old Mum has dementia and she has just been there 12 months. She had spent the best part of 16 weeks prior to moving there in hospital. She was ill in many ways and very unhappy.
One year on she is thriving. She is happy, in great health, and benefitting from a year of the best care I could hope for.
The professionalism and work from the staff has made her life enjoyable again. This has enabled me to re engage my relationship with as her son and not as her carer.
Most recently as changes have occurred within the structure of the home, things have got even better. The care side is excellent and liaison when she is not well or happy is prompt and effective. The social side has got progressively better to a point where I think she is having a better time now than she has done in the previous 3 years.

Trust this place! I have watched it for one year now and I am totally convinced that the place has saved my Mum's life. Thank you xx
