Staff are caring and friendly. The needs of residents are well met and family members feel welcome and able to discuss any issues that arise. Events and activities provided by relevant staff are varied and appreciated. Extra staffing and support for activities would be beneficial. Changes to decor,
routines and facilities indicate a clear desire to improve the environment for residents. Staff provide a good support for family members through their positivity and welcome.
Reply from Tyler McCullagh, Regional Manager at Elm Lodge Care HomeThank you for your kind words, and I am really happy that you satisfied with your parents care, and the kindness the care team show and exhibit. We will take on board your comments regarding the additional activity support. The new manager has made some positive changes to the environment and routines within the home so I am thrilled this has had a positive impact.
We will share your kind words with the team at Elm Lodge.
Kind Regards,
Tyler

We visit my dad regularly and all the staff are very friendly and helpful. They keep us up to date with things we need to know and how he's been doing. The younger members of staff are really good with my dad and he seems to love them. He comments on how the meals are mostly lovely, but also says that
some are just not quite how he would cook it though lol.
Dad seems happy and well looked after. Gives us peace of mind as a family.

Absolutely incredible care home who have dealt with my grandma with so much patience and kindness even when she has been difficult. Everyone we have encountered in the home has gone above and beyond for all residents (and visitors, they have helped our family immensely and even give my grandad who visits
nearly everyday food and look after him) and continue to try and engage all of their senses to help with their symptoms. They have followed my grandmas dietary requirements and have always been swift to help her whenever needed.

Layden Court Care Home

from Kate W (Daughter of Resident) published on 20 April 2026
Submitted via Website • Report
Overall Experience 5.0 out of 5
Layden Court's care of my Dad in his last few weeks of life was excellent. The kindness and compassion shown, not just to dad, but to us all as a family, made what was an horrendous time, that bit easier. Dad had Parkinson's and mixed dementia and we'd moved him from another care home to Layden Court.
The stressed and anxious dad we'd had was almost immediately replaced with a calm and content dad which was so reassuring, and testament to the level of care he received. While he was only with the team at Layden Court for 4 weeks, I would have no hesitation recommending them to anyone. The compassionate and dignified way in which they dealt with dads death was appreciated more than we can say. Thank you to the whole team from the Thompson family xx
Reply from Chantey Hickling, Registered Manager at Layden Court Care HomeWe are truly honoured that you chose Layden Court to care for your dad during such an important and emotional time. It means a great deal to us to hear that he felt calm and content in his final weeks, and that the support provided brought some comfort to you and your family.

Your dad was a beautiful man, and it was a privilege to care for him. Your family were also a pleasure to support during this time, and we are grateful for the trust you placed in us.

Caring for residents with dignity, compassion, and respect is at the heart of everything we do, and your kind words reassure us that our team made a positive difference when it mattered most. I will ensure your feedback is shared with all the staff, who will be deeply touched by your appreciation.

Please accept our sincere condolences once again. It was a privilege to care for your dad, and we are grateful to have supported you all during this time.

With kindest regards,
Chantey

The welcome we received from Chantey and team was fantastic after my mum went into Layden Court recently. She'd lived independantly into her 80's, but needed more care and support as her needs couldnt be met at home. Any concerns about mum moving into a care home environment, were soon dismissed leading
to me sleeping well for first time in months. Knowing mum is safe, warm, eating a lovely variety of meals and being cared for like a queen is invaluable. I can now visit and be her daughter again. Mum has high anxiety and various issues but Chantey and her team have been amazing in their care and compassion in managing mums condition to help her settle. Chanteys advice, support and experience has been a lifeline, often sending photo's and videos of mum happy and smiling. All the team are incredible and treat mum with respect and dignity. I always look forward to visits (and the fab partys!) as does my 4 year old grandson. Laden Court is our extended family indeed!
Reply from Chantey Hickling, Registered Manager at Layden Court Care HomeThank you so much for your incredibly kind and heartfelt review. It truly means a great deal to myself and the whole team here at Layden Court.

We understand how difficult the transition into a care home can be, both for residents and their families, so it is wonderful to hear that we were able to provide reassurance, comfort, and support during this time. Knowing that your mum feels safe, happy, and well cared for is exactly what we strive for every day.

Your words about our compassion, respect, and dignity mean so much to us. It has been a pleasure getting to know your mum and welcoming her-and your family-into our Layden Court community. We especially love hearing how much you and your grandson enjoy your visits and our little celebrations!

Thank you again for placing your trust in us and for taking the time to share your experience. If there is ever anything more we can do, please don't hesitate to let us know.

Warmest regards,
Chantey and the Layden Court Team

My Aunt has been a resident at Layden Court for 3 years... She hasn't been the easiest and is quite a character. Over the years the staff have got used to her and her ways, they've always been accommodating and very patient with her.
Since Chantey started there's more things going on like get togethers,
meetings, party's where everyone can be involved and it's nice. I get regular updates and videos of my aunt which puts my mind at rest that's she's doing okay. .It's a welcoming homely place where I feel my aunt is safe and cared for. .

Your aunt is certainly a character and we truly adore her. It has been wonderful getting to know her and seeing the relationships she has built with the staff over the years. Our team always aims to provide care with patience, kindness and understanding, so it's lovely to hear this has made a positive difference.
I'm also pleased you've enjoyed seeing the activities and events taking place in the home. Keeping families connected through updates and videos is very important to us, and I'm glad this gives you reassurance.

So pleased we chose Layden Court for my husband, who suffers from advanced dementia & required an EMI bed. It was so difficult finding somewhere suitably equipped for his needs. From the moment we walked into Layden Court we knew we'd found the right place.
The home Manager, Chantey is so caring,
kind and treats her clients with so much love and affection which comes naturally to her. She is such a lovely lady, bubbly, calm, professional, caring and loving. She provides regular updates regarding your love one and address any concerns as soon as possible, nothing is to much trouble. The caring staff do a fabulous job making there clients feel at home caring for their individual needs The atmosphere of the home is so loving and warm, one big happy family.
Events are held on a regular basis, coffee mornings, sing along and lots of arts and crafts.
I wouldn't hesitate to recommend Layden Court for your loved ones.

Reply from Chantey Hickling, Registered Manager at Layden Court Care HomeThank you so much for your lovely review and for sharing your experience at Layden Court. Your kind words truly mean a lot to both myself and the whole team.
I understand how difficult it can be to find the right place for a loved one, especially when specialist dementia care is needed, so I'm very pleased that you felt Layden Court was the right home for your husband from the moment you visited.
It's wonderful to hear that you feel supported and reassured by the updates and communication we provide. Our team works very hard to create a warm, caring and family-like environment where every resident is treated with dignity, kindness and respect.
I will be sure to share your kind feedback with the staff, as it will mean so much to them.
Thank you again for your recommendation and continued support.

Absolutely fantastic, top notch. My husband has come on leaps and bounds since being at The Valleys. All the carers have looked after my husband really well and also me. Management as well, they have been there for us every step of the way.

I find the care home is excellent for my sister as she is happy, content and safe. She seems to get on with all the staff and residents and mixes in well. The food is excellent, as she was very skinny when she came in, but has put weight on. I am quite happy with her living here.
Reply from Alice Pawson, Registered Manager at The Valleys Care HomeThank you for your lovely review Sheila. Our team are proud to provide excellent care, I will ensure your feedback is cascaded across the team.

Layden Court Care Home

My grandma stayed at Layden Court after an admission to hospital from a previous care home. Unfortunately she wasn't able to return to the previous home due to outstanding issues, but since arriving at Layden Court as an emergency admission she received a large warm welcome from care staff and management.
Although my grandma's health declined rapidly the care staff worked extremely hard to ensure she remained comfortable. Management always present in the care home even on weekends which was lovely to see. Can't thank Layden Court enough.
Reply from Chantey Hickling, Registered Manager at Layden Court Care HomeThank you, Kelly, for taking the time to share such a heartfelt review about your grandmother's stay at Layden Court.
We are truly grateful for your kind words about our team. It means a great deal to us that you felt your grandmother received a warm welcome and compassionate care during what must have been a very difficult time for your family. Ensuring our residents feel comfortable, respected, and supported is always our priority, especially when their health declines.
Your recognition of the staff and management presence in the home, including weekends, will be very much appreciated by the whole team. We are proud of their dedication and commitment to providing dignified, person-centred care.
Please accept our sincere condolences for your loss, and thank you again for trusting Layden Court to care for your grandmother. It was an honour to support her and your family.

The Troc

Following a hospital admission for my father we had to find an emergency placement for my mum. We chose The troc due to the location and also on visiting the welcome and warming environment.
Mum could not be more grateful for the care she received at the troc and only praised all of the care staff
at the home. Mum also mentioned that the home manager popped in daily to ask how things were and she appreciated this. We also extended her stay for a further five days and found the troc very accommodating to enable us to do this.
Reply from Tyler McCullagh, Regional Manager at The TrocThank you for taking the time to leave a review.
I'm glad to hear your mum felt welcomed and well cared for during her stay at The Troc, especially at what must have been a stressful time for your family. It's really nice to hear she spoke so highly of the care team and appreciated the manager taking the time to check in with her.
I'm also pleased we were able to accommodate the extension to her stay when you needed and I know the team would happily welcome Mum back anytime.
Thank you again for your kind words - I'll make sure your comments are shared with the team.
