Overall Experience
Our Mum was admitted to Bluebell unit at Bunkers Hill for nursing care, following a spell in hospital, and it sadly became apparent that she was approaching the end of her life. All the staff made a real effort to ensure that Mum was kept comfortable during the last weeks of her life, and she was treated with care and kindness throughout.
In addition to this, my sister and I were struck by how friendly and helpful all the staff were towards us, which made a difficult time more bearable.

By the time Mum arrived at Bunkers Hill she was bed bound and hardly eating, so it has been difficult to review some of the sections such as activities, and food and drink. However, we feel happy that Mum was well looked after in all aspects of her care. Thank you.

Fantastic Care home! All the staff have been very caring for my husband in understanding his needs and have been very accomodating. Wonderful facilities and have been very helpful in getting him the help and care that he need's to enjoy his time there. The staff have also been friendly and welcoming when we visit and always make sure we have a coffee.

My uncle was admitted into this care home at the end of March and has supranuclear palsy which is a complex degenerative disease. The carers at this home have been fantastic, and the home itself is bright, clean and a pleasant place for him to live in, and for us to visit.

Absolutely incredible care home who have dealt with my grandma with so much patience and kindness even when she has been difficult. Everyone we have encountered in the home has gone above and beyond for all residents (and visitors, they have helped our family immensely and even give my grandad who visits nearly everyday food and look after him) and continue to try and engage all of their senses to help with their symptoms. They have followed my grandmas dietary requirements and have always been swift to help her whenever needed.

Reception should be manned 7 days a week to relieve staff from letting you in. On entering the ward it smells of strong urine. Cleaning is very basic. There is a big problem with staff shortage. Staff cannot give residents the individual care they need. Food is not fit for a human being, it looks like slop thrown on the plate. No variety some thing most days. Lounge/dining room very basic. Garden a mess & not safe for residents to get round by themselves. Activities are very basic one a week and not every week. The home is very basic & poor and needs investigating and is certainly not value for money.

I am so happy my mum is in this home, the staff are amazing, caring, thoughtful, hard working. I can leave my mum, knowing she is in safe hands. My mum has been in a few care homes and finally I found this one. I have reccomended this home to my friends for their loved ones. I cannot praise this home more!!

The Carers of Bunkers Hill Care Home are, without doubt, the very best and no praise is too high for them. They look after my wife, and the other residents, with consummate care and compassion They go about their tasks with infinite patience and cheerful good humour. They never belittle, bully or embarrass the residents who are always treated with the utmost respect. It is why, my wife, who despite all her problems, has made it abundantly clear that she is happy At Bunkers Hill and does not want to move.

I'd very much like to praise the excellent care and support my mum has had at Bunkers Hill since she arrived in May. Obviously mum was not happy to start with but the caring and friendly atmosphere quickly won her round and she recently told me she was happy there. I have visited every two weeks and every time I have been impressed with the support that mum has had from all the carers. They are always available to help out and no request is too much. The food is always very appetising and mum has often finished breakfast when I arrive and wants toast and marmalade to follow which is always available. The staff were very obliging to put up several of my paintings on the walls in mum's room which has helped to personalise the space. I have nothing but praise for the home and send my thanks for the support you have provided.

We had struggled and failed to get any support for my mum and came to Bunker's Hill in crisis. All the staff were so caring and supportive of the whole family through an extremely difficult time. My mum is so well cared for and is treated with utmost respect and patience. We, the family, have been supported in ensuring my mum has the best life possible and helping us come to terms with and cope with her dementia. All the staff do their utmost not just to provide care but to bring joy to all the residents' lives every single day.

On the whole care is very good for moderate dementia patients. Please bear in mind that this is not a suitable setting for advanced or complex dementia patients. Staff are not able to deal with such issues.

Sourcing and placing my father into a Care Home was a very difficult decision to make for my family. Following a visit to Bunkers Hill, we were so impressed with the facilities including the staff. We were initially met by a very enthusiastic member of staff who was extremely attentive, very informative and provided us with a tour of the facilities including answering all of our questions. This was followed by an introduction to the Manager who was so empathetic to our situation and most importantly she listened. Compassionate towards our plight, she provided a great deal of reassurance. We made the decision to place my father and this was the best decision we made. Communication/feedback was second to none from all staff. A huge thank you from us for taking care of him, despite the fact he was only with you for a short period of time prior to passing, we know he was well cared for.

Brilliant care home where individual needs are met. There are plenty of food and drink choices on a varied menu with plenty of activities organised. All staff I have dealt with are polite and request more toiletries, personal spending or clothes whenever required. The staff on Jasmine wing are brilliant, my Gran was always happy and content when I went to see her and the staff knew her so well, they could easily tell when something wasn't right with her.

Each resident has their own spacious room with loo, TV and DVD player. Thank you Bunkers Hill.

I am permanently disabled and have Alzheimer's disease. I have nursing care at this care home and have been here for 2 1/2 years. My overall care is good although personal care I.e. Toilet etc sometimes makes me cross. Care home cleanliness is good and food menu is acceptable. My husband visits regularly and treated well.

Always get a nice welcome a smiling face from the staff. They are willing to help if required and nothing is too much trouble.

If you have a problem or need advice nurses and staff are approachable which is nice and reassuring. Always nice to see the staff interacting with the other residents and making them smile and generally making them feel at ease.

My mother spent a number of years in Bunkers Hill Care Home latterly on Bluebell Suite. Throughout my many visits there the staff were calm and caring towards all residents. Towards the end of my mother's life I would often find a member of staff paying particular attention to her, trying to make her laugh and cognisant of keeping her hydrated. Never once did I see a member of staff doing anything that would make me feel uncomfortable about the care of my mother. All in all, nice staff who looked after my mother very well indeed.

Just wanted to write a review to say how truly happy I am that my lovely mum is in this super home, what a relief for me as a daughter to have her there. It is far the best one in our area and she has been there almost a full year now and the staff are very attentive even though so busy and the activities are great.
My mum was an avid gardener and now has her own little wheelbarrow full of flowers to attend to.
Her room is spacious with her own furniture in and everything possible has been done by the staff to make her feel at home.
Her favourite food is poached eggs on toast and even after the cook had finished yesterday he then cooked those especially for my mum as that is what she fancied.

I would without any doubt recommend this home to absolutely anyone and I feel very, very lucky that she is there.

My mum who is 101 has lived on Honeysuckle Ward for 16 months. She has been cared for with kindness and dignity at all times by amazing staff. Her personal care is very good, she is always kept clean and comfortable. All staff are welcoming and take time to talk to me when I visit from Southampton. They keep me informed of mum's ongoing treatments by telephone. I am pleased my mum is at Bunkers Hill Care Home.
