The two managers are good managers, they make me feel most welcome. My poor mum can no longer do things for herself bless her. Mum has been like this some time. Most staff work hard one member of staff in particular always makes me a lovely coffee. The home is having new windows and doors so out with
the wood in with the plastic. They have started work on this and they now have a lovely front door. Please close the door behind you please. They also now have a wonderful garden. Lovely handy man kindly worked on this for free, thanks so much. Bedrooms have just been done up.
The cost of the home for loved one is quite expensive, mind you they all are. With my mum's it's all coming from the house when the valuation go's down too half the rest should go to the family etc, the law needs changing. So please think before you put your loved one in care, myself had no choice.
I recommend St Michael's Nursing and Residential Home. Hope this is of some help, I love it, please give me a thumbs up, kind regards.

My husband has lived at St Michael's since April 2024, it took a while for him to settle down but the care he gets from the staff is really lovely, he has a good appetite and if he says he is hungry food will appear they have nice activities going on for anyone wishing to take part. It was a big decision
for him to go into care but it was the correct one for all the family, as much as he is missed at home we know he is being well cared for and for that, my thanks go to all the staff who work there.

Mum had 2 weeks of respite care at St Micheal's and she was very happy with her experience. The facilities and food were very good and the staff always seemed friendly and attentive. I felt reassured that Mum was in good hands.

My experience at St Michael's Nursing Home has been and is still excellent. The staff from management down are all very friendly and helpful and treat my Mum with dignity and respect, they treat her as if she is their friend. She sees them as her friends. My Mum doesn't want to join in the activities
every time but loves it when she does. It's clean, not smelly and has been renovated a lot. I'm very happy my Mum is in there.

When my nanna had a big heart attack, the manager came in, even on his day off, to make sure she was doing ok and if need anything. Also, the other staff are always very helpful. Also, a very clean place and my nanna has always looked after, and the food looks lovely - I could stay for tea.

My dad has been a resident for three years at St Michael's. He is bedridden, but it's home-from-home. The management and staff do a wonderful job with limited resources. They are trying their best to upgrade the rooms etc, but like ever, part of health care needs investment and adequate funding. Keep
up the good work, everybody. Thanks.

When my mum had a heart attack, they rang me in the night so I could be with her and go to the hospital. When back at the nursing home with her, the manager came in on his day off to make sure she was ok and everything was in place and nursed her back to health.
I am very pleased with how it is run
and glad that my mum wanted to go in there.

Mum is treated with dignity, compassion, and where appropriate, a sense of humour. The manager and his team have gone out of their way to keep her connected with family and friends.
Although the property is somewhat run down from previous owners, it is apparent that works are ongoing to improve the
facilities for the benefit of all.

My dad was given the best care that was available in St Michael's; it was great, really thought out. The staff are very good and care for each patient with a lot of patience.
When Dad was on end-of-life, the staff always made sure he was comfortable, and if we weren't around, they sat with him as
he didn't like being alone. Special thanks to one lady for caring.

My 96-year-old mother provides her own reviews for St Michael's. She is physically frail and has profound memory loss, but she really seems contented and comfortable. She often says; this is a lovely place. Friendly people. Which is a great comfort to me. She is encouraged to maintain her independence
in activities of daily living, and her appetite has improved. She likes the food.
The staff are pleasant, caring and professional and maintain all safety precautions. The home itself is pleasantly decorated and well-maintained. I am really happy with my mum's care.

On arrival at St Michael's was greeted very well. My husband is only in the home as an interim bed till our family home needs adaptations to allow him home. He does not have any Alzheimer's or mental problems, but the care and attendance he is receiving are fair and just what he needs. The staff are
very attentive and treat everyone with the dignity they deserve.

Since the home has been taken over, it has had some money spent to make it look more professional, but the care service has got worse. There does not appear to be many of the original staff who understand my mother's needs. They seem to use more agency staff who I am sorry to say I have difficulty understanding
when talking to them and my mother, being totally deaf and needing to lip read, it is making her become increasingly more isolated. My mother is not getting anywhere near the care that she needs and used to get prior to the home being bought out of administration. Previously she was fully assisted with feeding, now she has food put in front of her and is expected to feed herself.

Dad came to St Michael's after 3 weeks in a hospital with sepsis. He was cared for with the utmost kindness and compassion by all the staff in the final month of his life. As visitors, we felt we were welcomed and looked after. When the time came, dad's passing was peaceful and he was treated with dignity
and true compassion. As a family, we were supported by all the staff at St Michael's who work so hard to make this a genuinely caring and homely environment for all the residents and their families.

Current Review Score: 8.3 (8.314)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 8.3 (8.314) out of 10 for St Michael's Nursing and Residential Home is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 4.4 out of 5 from 4 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 3.9 out of 5 from 4 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.426 for St Michael's Nursing and Residential Home is calculated as follows: ( (22 Excellents x 5) + (23 Goods x 4) + (2 Satisfactorys x 3) ) ÷ 47 Ratings = 4.426
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 3.888 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for St Michael's Nursing and Residential Home is based on 4 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 10 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, and then 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews and then 0.1 Points for the next five Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.100, 7th = 0.100, 8th = 0.100, 9th = 0.100, 10th = 0.100) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 = 3.375
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 39 registered maximum number of service users is 7.8. 4 Positive Reviews ÷ 7.8 = 0.513
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
