Our Mum was admitted to Bluebell unit at Bunkers Hill for nursing care, following a spell in hospital, and it sadly became apparent that she was approaching the end of her life. All the staff made a real effort to ensure that Mum was kept comfortable during the last weeks of her life, and she was treated with care and kindness throughout.
In addition to this, my sister and I were struck by how friendly and helpful all the staff were towards us, which made a difficult time more bearable.

By the time Mum arrived at Bunkers Hill she was bed bound and hardly eating, so it has been difficult to review some of the sections such as activities, and food and drink. However, we feel happy that Mum was well looked after in all aspects of her care. Thank you.

Fantastic Care home! All the staff have been very caring for my husband in understanding his needs and have been very accomodating. Wonderful facilities and have been very helpful in getting him the help and care that he need's to enjoy his time there. The staff have also been friendly and welcoming when we visit and always make sure we have a coffee.

My uncle was admitted into this care home at the end of March and has supranuclear palsy which is a complex degenerative disease. The carers at this home have been fantastic, and the home itself is bright, clean and a pleasant place for him to live in, and for us to visit.

Absolutely incredible care home who have dealt with my grandma with so much patience and kindness even when she has been difficult. Everyone we have encountered in the home has gone above and beyond for all residents (and visitors, they have helped our family immensely and even give my grandad who visits nearly everyday food and look after him) and continue to try and engage all of their senses to help with their symptoms. They have followed my grandmas dietary requirements and have always been swift to help her whenever needed.

Reception should be manned 7 days a week to relieve staff from letting you in. On entering the ward it smells of strong urine. Cleaning is very basic. There is a big problem with staff shortage. Staff cannot give residents the individual care they need. Food is not fit for a human being, it looks like slop thrown on the plate. No variety some thing most days. Lounge/dining room very basic. Garden a mess & not safe for residents to get round by themselves. Activities are very basic one a week and not every week. The home is very basic & poor and needs investigating and is certainly not value for money.

I'd very much like to praise the excellent care and support my mum has had at Bunkers Hill since she arrived in May. Obviously mum was not happy to start with but the caring and friendly atmosphere quickly won her round and she recently told me she was happy there. I have visited every two weeks and every time I have been impressed with the support that mum has had from all the carers. They are always available to help out and no request is too much. The food is always very appetising and mum has often finished breakfast when I arrive and wants toast and marmalade to follow which is always available. The staff were very obliging to put up several of my paintings on the walls in mum's room which has helped to personalise the space. I have nothing but praise for the home and send my thanks for the support you have provided.

I cannot fault the care given to my mother, both management and staff have been helpful and attentive to my mum. I feel totally happy with the care and support. It is a shame that the home is a bit tired, but I guess the up keep is expensive consider their hole place is very clean and tidy and maintained to a very good standard.

We had struggled and failed to get any support for my mum and came to Bunker's Hill in crisis. All the staff were so caring and supportive of the whole family through an extremely difficult time. My mum is so well cared for and is treated with utmost respect and patience. We, the family, have been supported in ensuring my mum has the best life possible and helping us come to terms with and cope with her dementia. All the staff do their utmost not just to provide care but to bring joy to all the residents' lives every single day.

On the whole care is very good for moderate dementia patients. Please bear in mind that this is not a suitable setting for advanced or complex dementia patients. Staff are not able to deal with such issues.

I cannot praise high enough the kindness and compassion of the staff - The nurses, the carers and domestic staff - far beyond what is required of their positions. They go above and beyond and they must sleep well at night knowing they have expressed such kindness. I have heard the staff dealing with such kindness to extremely difficult patients. I simply can't express in gratitude high enough for the care given to my father and my family. 5 star.

My husband spent his final days here and the care was excellent. He was kept, very comfortable in an immaculately clean, warm room and treated with great respect by the staff. All of his needs were dealt with carefully and promptly. My family and I were always welcomed in a very positive way and staff gave us time to answer any questions we had. We couldn't have asked for a better place for his final days.

First, I must apologise for not submitting a review earlier, I have been meaning to but just not got round to doing it. I know how important reviews can be when someone is looking for a home for their loved one. My Mum was at White Gables from November 2023 until March 2024. All of the staff were friendly and caring, always with a smile. My father used to visit every day in the afternoon and they always made him a cup of tea when on their busy rounds and took the time to talk to him too and ensure that he was coping. My Mum received the best care, she was always clean and dressed and took part in activities, such as making Christmas decorations, which she enjoyed. Sadly, Mum passed away in March 2024. She was treated with such care and dignity in her final days and we could not have asked for more from the staff. It is a lovely care home in pleasant surroundings.

The entire staff team at White Gables exude kindness and care. When I visited my husband once/twice every day, I always experienced smiley faces, patience and politeness.

The nursing staff were both proactive and responsive. My husband was at the home for his final weeks, following stays in hospital. His palliative care was given in a dignified and thoughtful way. All the staff are to be praised for the manner in which they carry out their often challenging tasks.

I often visit my wife at mealtimes, because I still like to feel like I'm still caring for her. My wife is on a liquid diet. The staff check we are both ok. They often offer me a drink even though it's a really busy time. White Gables doesn't smell, it has pleasant gardens. The staff are friendly. Thank you, for looking after my wife.
