A lovely home but 'tired' and dated
The staff were wonderful, caring and nothing was too much trouble
The food looked amazing.
Even though the home needs upgrading the care from the staff were 2nd to none.
Everywhere was very clean and the home did not smell of urine.

All the staff appeared to be happy and it was well run by the deputy manager who always gave a good greeting. (And hugs)

Staff are caring and friendly. The needs of residents are well met and family members feel welcome and able to discuss any issues that arise. Events and activities provided by relevant staff are varied and appreciated. Extra staffing and support for activities would be beneficial. Changes to decor, routines and facilities indicate a clear desire to improve the environment for residents. Staff provide a good support for family members through their positivity and welcome.

The staff at this home are friendly and welcoming. No smell of urine or cabbage! Lara and team liaise with us. Our relative has blossomed in their care. She is antisocial, and they respect her wishes not to participate in activities/dining area. The rooms are bright and cheerful, food is lovely. I asked for the room to be changed around, and it was done the next morning. My mum is happy here now after a settling and adjustment period.

From first contacting the care home, the manager who had recently been in post was excellent. She reassured us and was very supportive, as she knew we were worried, as we were going away for Easter. I would give the manager 10/10 for the support she gave. My mother-in-law was very well cared for and enjoyed participating in the activities. We were telephoned on our first day away and reassured that my mother-in-law was okay. This meant so much to us as we were going to contact that same evening. The manager was knowledgeable regarding Dementia/Alzheimer's, again, this helped. Thank you to all who cared for my mother-in-law and allowed us to get away.

The manager has gone above and beyond reassuring our family about my Nan's care since she arrived. She even emailed out of hours to put us at ease. The staff answer any questions we have and we are welcomed as visitors.

Very good care from all the staff. Kind and respectful towards the residents. Clean and tidy in most areas. Good wholesome food. Washing is done by family but some items have gone to the laundry. Helpful senior staff when asked about mum.

Mum has been at Elm lodge for around two months now, and is very happy. The home seems very well run. The facilities are good, and it always looks clean. Most importantly, the staff are brilliant, and they always seem attentive, friendly and helpful. It is really reassuring, to know that mum is being well cared for. Very satisfied.

My wife has now been at Elm Lodge for six months. The care she has received is beyond expectations. When admitted she was often violent and uncooperative but with the dedication and patience of the manager, supported by her equally dedicated staff and doctor, she has become calmer and cooperative with requests. She is still confused but my family and I can relax knowing that she is safe and being cared for properly.

Our mother was discharged from the hospital and moved into Elm Lodge care facility in March 2022. The manager of Elm Lodge at that time was excellent; they worked with us to help our mother settle in with a non-judgmental and approachable attitude. Overall, we have been very happy with the care our mother has received from the day-to-day staff at Elm Lodge. We understand that working in such an environment, especially in dementia care, is not easy, but we feel that our mother has been well taken care of, and we are grateful to the care staff for that. Thank you.

Mum has had a lovely stay in respite. Staff and management are friendly and approachable, just like a big family unit. She enjoyed the activities groups and having a good natter with the service users. Going back one day a week, daycare, to keep in touch with friends she has made.

For the most part I have been happy with the care my Dad has received. Vast majority of staff are friendly and supportive. My Dad is usually clean and well-presented. I’ve only had a couple of times when this was not the case and I raised this at the time. Areas I feel could be improved:

The hairdresser could be better. My Dads hair has been hacked at and I’ve heard some residents say they don’t like having theirs done. I’ve raised the issue of name badges for staff before as I do think this is important but I appreciate for safety/infection control etc they are not deemed appropriate. As an alternative, I think it would be nice to have a staff photo board displayed so that residents and visitors could see who’s who. I would like to thank you for the care my Dad receives. I know how challenging the demands of dementia care can be so thank you for all that you do.

My father has been in Elm Lodge for two years this September. He wasn't in the best place when he arrived there after being hospitalised for quite a while. But the staff looked after him so well. So caring and with dignity and respect. He wouldn't join in with any of the daily activities, but just sit and watch.
To see him now is unbelievable, I would never have believed him to be healthwise where he is now.

He will take part in everything. I can also see an improvement within Elm Lodge over the time dad has been there. The activities have increased and outings for the residents too. Thank you to all for the care, and love you all give to my dad and all the other residents too.

My Father received the very best of care at Elm Lodge and was treated with such respect and dignity during his stay. All the staff made a special bond with him and made his stay here a memorable one for me too knowing he was loved. I cannot thank all the staff enough for their hard work and appreciate everything they did for Dad!

Dear Residents, Families, Colleagues, and Friends.

Meet Our New Home Manager at Elm Lodge

Hello everyone! My name is Shoaib Mohammed, but please call me Mo. I’m very happy to be joining Elm Lodge as the new Home Manager.

I’ve worked in residential and dementia care for over 7 years, and caring for the elderly is truly close to my heart. My passion for care began when I helped look after my grandmother, who lived to the wonderful age of 109. That experience shaped my values and inspired me to build my career in elderly care.

My goal at Elm Lodge is to make sure every resident feels safe, respected, listened to, and at home. I’m really looking forward to getting to know our residents, families, staff, and the wider community.

‘I believe residents are no longer written off, no longer a Strain on Services, no longer just a woman with Dementia but a mother who was many great things to many people’

I strongly believe that the best care comes from working together. I look forward to getting to know our residents, building trusting relationships with families, supporting our wonderful staff, and being an active part of the local community.

Please feel free to stop me for a chat when your @Elm Lodge, share your thoughts, or simply say hello—I am always happy to listen:)
