Elm Lodge Care Home

My mother seems very content and happy, looks well cared for. Happy to participate in most of the activities provided by the care home, apparently especially the dancing when they have live entertainment’ considering she is coming up for 102 in July.

I would like to thank the staff for the wonderful care given to my mother during her time in the home. On each of my visits, I saw hard-working and caring people doing their best to ensure my mum was happy rested, loved and healthy. I truly believe that they made the final year of her life the happiest in the five years since my dad passed away. I would highly recommend this home to any family who needs to place a loved one in care.

My mother was very happy in the months she spent in Elm Lodge. The manager and all the staff were very good with mum she loved them all, it was a relief to me she was being so well looked after as I live so far away from Chesterfield. When mum passed away we went to see all the staff and the manager, they were all so respectful and consoling and they were all telling us of the love and support they gave her which we knew was genuine as mum said she loved every one of them. I couldn't have wished for mum final months to be so loved.

On the whole I feel Elm Lodge is one of the better care homes, the majority of the staff are very pleasant, helpful and polite, the food is good, the residents are seen regularly by medical staff and reviewed and the management are helpful.

Firstly I will not criticise the staff. They are probably underpaid and appear to be understaffed and for those I have encountered, care about their residents. For the amount of money being paid for my mother to stay in this facility I find the place to be very uninviting. The decor is basic. The bedrooms are basic. I appreciate for health and safety reasons carpets, rugs etc are not there but I’m sure there are more things that can be done to make the place feel more homely. I am not aware of any activities and on the times I’ve visited and all residents just seem to be sitting in their chairs in the communal room with just a TV and again the communal rooms are very uninspiring. I also think the garden could be made more user-friendly and ensure the residents living upstairs have access in summer.

My father went into Elm Lodge after much family discussion, on arrival he was impressed that the staff were so kind and helpful, all his requests were met with a smile, and he settled immediately. At all times staff and managers were hardworking but always approachable, everyone always went above and beyond. Although he was only there for a couple of months as he sadly passed away. We could not have asked for a better place for him and his happiness and was always a priority to us and them. At Elm Lodge, this was met.

Absolutely wonderful! My dad has been brilliantly looked after since starting here in June! All staff are caring and down to earth and they give their all when caring for my dad.

Elm Lodge Care Home is a lovely, calm place. I'm really happy with my mum's care. She is very well looked after. All the staff are lovely and compassionate. Nothing is too much trouble for them.

My sister-in-law went for respite in Elm Lodge Care Home about six years ago but I wasn't very impressed but she needed a place to stay while her bungalow was being adapted so I thought try Elm Lodge Care Home once more but this time, it is so different. In fact, she is so happy, I think she will opt to stay. The decor is lovely, food is so good and think people should know just how nice it is. A big thank you for making the residents so happy.

Thank you to all the staff at Elm Lodge. You've all shown so much care and understanding to Mum and to her family. The atmosphere is cheerful and welcoming. Although Mum struggles sometimes to settle, she says people are really kind to her and she's not unhappy. For Mum to say that is huge, as realistically of course she'd rather be fit healthy and at home. Very many thanks for all your hard work. As a family, we so appreciate it.

My mum is well cared for. The staff are kind and understand her needs. I live far away, so I am not able to visit in person often. I do, however, communicate with her via video call, which the staff are always willing to facilitate.

What a wonderful place Elm Lodge is. During a very difficult time, the staff were sympathetic and understanding of both of my parents' needs. The environment is calm and comforting, with a fantastic, friendly feeling. For anyone concerned about their parents' wellbeing, I would without hesitation recommend Elm Lodge Care Home.

I am always welcomed and they answer all my questions. My mother has been looked after very well. She loved the care home and it's staff. Staff always inform me if she has a fall. I am welcome to come anytime to see her. They inform me about if a doctor has been and explain well if anything changes in her care. The staff go above and beyond to ensure she is happy and cared for. I think this care home would be hard to beat, with the friendly staff and the way they care about their residents.

I can't thank the staff enough for what they've done and accomplished with my mum. She came in a shy, confused lady and is leaving with a new lease of life. From day one, they've been attentive and helpful to my Mum's and our needs.

Find all the staff very pleasant, and helpful, good sense of humour, kind to the residents. Always has a nice atmosphere, happy for my mother to be staying there and would recommend it to anybody.
